I think even now the Nintendo platform is still a game console that is played by a wide range of age groups, but basically, I think it’s hardware for kids and teens.

It's really not that weird. Just assume everything has been pushed back a few months thanks to Covid. Super Mario 3D World was probably going to be their holiday game.
Next year is looking a lot better. Monster Hunter Rise, Pokemon Snap, SM3DW, Bravely Default, and No More Heroes 3 for me so far and we haven't even seen a Direct. Also Bayonetta and Metroid, but those are a maybe right now.

For what it's worth Age of Calamity's a pretty top notch production and I recommend people even remotely interested, as Zelda fans or musou fans, should check out the demo.
I can definitely imagine an alternate 2020 where AoC + Mario 3D World were a solid one-two holiday combo though. Maybe Bravely Default 2 as a third party offering to round things out.
