Keep in mind BD2, Mario 3d world and AOC were all supposed to release this year.

You know, I'm actually kind of wondering now why they didn't prioritize Mario 3D World for this holiday and bump Age of Calamity to January/February...with this year being Mario's 35th and next year being Zelda's. Though I guess the bulk of AoC's development wasn't really on Nintendo themselves.

It kind of makes me think Bowsers Fury is going to be super substantial.

It's really not that weird. Just assume everything has been pushed back a few months thanks to Covid. Super Mario 3D World was probably going to be their holiday game.

Next year is looking a lot better. Monster Hunter Rise, Pokemon Snap, SM3DW, Bravely Default, and No More Heroes 3 for me so far and we haven't even seen a Direct. Also Bayonetta and Metroid, but those are a maybe right now.

Rise and Snap will make me happy. Didn't really love the BD2 demo. Not sure I'm down for NMH3 either. We need Bayo 3 or BOTW2 for holiday.

I didn't love the demo either, but the video they put out seems like they took the criticisms to heart and are making improvements.

I guess Collection of SaGa is my Christmas present to myself. Thanks Reggie.

I somehow ended up with one of them on my Gameboy (branded Final Fantasy). It will bring back fond memories of high school and Korea.

yeah I think I played the original legends for game boy. I picked up romancing 2 and 3 for switch hoping when i get to them it captures my interest.

Heh I made you read a manga page.

Point me in the right direction. What should I look for to find @SLoWMoTIoN-approved content?
This is a Nintendo thread please behave yourself.

bowsette isn't canon

2 weeks without touching my Switch and it is all Jooxed's fault for not releasing games.

Fine, whatever! Criticize and run! I'll find my own waifus, and they'll be so much better than yours!

(I really need Nintendo to release more games.)

It's a shame more people aren't talking about Shiren. Maybe they got their fill on Vita. It's tough as nails but the rescue system is pretty amazing as you can send three revive request to the community per dungeon.

I didn't even realize it had a Switch release. How highly would you recommend it? Buy it, wait for sale, or wait for deep sale?

TFW no French toast Gaf :(

fuck Thicc's waifu.

I mean it is a Roguelike and it is made by Chunsoft. People only want to talk about Dangangetmearope-ah when it comes to them.

You know I was thinking about this when they announced AoC out of the blue and I figured that Nintendo was originally planning on sitting on it until February to kick off the 35th Anniversary for Zelda and Mario 3D World was supposed to go in that slot in November. Nintendo has been known to sit on finished games to put them into a time slot when they have a void. My guess was once they realized that Mario was going to slip they knew they had to have something for November and AoC was planned to be finished or near finished by then making it a great contender.

That's an interesting thought. It makes sense. Switch Age of Calamity with the 3D World remaster, and the anniversaries line up much better. I hope we do end up getting a Zelda anniversary collection or something to commemorate the series.

Same! I'm sure we will. The question is what will it be? They really have so many different options. Considering the rate that Wii U games have been rereleased I would guess the HD Twilight Princess and Wind Waker would be a shoe in, but will they sell them in a two pack? Individually? Then there have been rumors of a Skyward Sword tune up forever so that would be a nice present as well. Or will they take the Mario route and just shove three Zelda games on a cartridge with very little TLC and call it a day? lol

Also I bet that Mario 35 (The Nintendo Online game) gets replaced with Zelda 35 with basically the same kind of gameplay except LoZ instead

First, before I forget, welcome (back, maybe) to NintendoGAF!

Second, I do wonder what Skyward Sword would be like after Breath of the Wild. I played it on the Wii, and I remember being frustrated by the overlong tutorials and hand-holding. I can't imagine what that would be like now, after the openness of Breath of the Wild. Wind Waker seems like a good fit for the Switch, as the art-style holds up and the gameplay is still solid. I don't know about anything else. Maybe Nintendo would release a GB VC with Age of Oracles and Age of Seasons?

Thanks!! I've definitely been on hiatus from this forum for a while. I don't remember if I posted much in the Nintendo threads before, but they were always my favorite ones to browse through. I always had a tendency to be more of a lurker than a poster, but this forum seems to have gotten a lot more chill than it used to be. I like it!

Anyways! Oracle of Ages and Seasons would be nice! I definitely think they are in need of some love and I could definitely see them getting highlighted on a VC/Nintendo Online channel some how. If Nintendo really wants to be brave though they should free Four Swords Adventures from the GameCube. It's only Zelda that wasn't accessible in the Wii U/3DS era. Who knows though with Nintendo getting GC emulation working with Mario 3D world I really hope they do something with that. I have a ton of GC games I'd love to see again. (Sad truth is my GameCube is still hooked up so it's not like I need to do anything other than walk over to my TV and press the power button to play it lol)

I don't think 2020's schedule was too far off from what actually ended up happening.

Jan: Tokyo Mirage Sessions
Mar: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Animal Crossing
Apr: Super Mario 3D All-Stars + Mario 35 (35th anniversary kick off)
May: Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
Jun: Clubhouse Games
Jul: Paper Mario
Aug: Pikmin 3
Sept: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Oct: Mario Kart Live, Bravely Default 2
Nov: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

I think Mario was supposed to be more of a year long celebration beginning with Super Mario 3D but they pulled the plug in Feb/March when everyone went into lockdown. Hyrule Warriors and Pikmin got pushed back as a result to fill holes. Mario 3D world is pushed to Feb/end of FY in because they need some space between it and 3D All Stars. I imagine Hyrule Warriors was always planned as a 2020 release. I think 2021 will be a crowded release calendar, particularly for Zelda with BOTW 2 and a collection of ports at minimum. Theres no way they pulled a game forward during the pandemic. That said, I think it is distinctly possible that BOTW slips to Mar 2022 now.

Edit: I'll add that April is the start of Nintendo's FY and the Mario Maker 2 speed run event was originally planned for April. It would make much more sense for the games to be available April 2020 - March 2021.

I like the take! The only thing I would say though is that I don't think Mario 3D All-Stars was ever planned to be that early. Anecdotally there were some grain of salt rumors that said that it wasn't even in existence until early this year, but that game if it was set for April, I think probably would've made it because that was still early enough in the pandemic that it shouldn't have been effected that drastically. Then again though Nintendo has been shown to be pretty cautious with the titles they've had on the back burner this year and saving them for the right times. Really Nintendo has been lighting it up so hard with it's evergreen titles, Animal Crossing and Ring Fit this year they honestly probably didn't need anything more than that for them to meet their sales goals as sad as it would've been for anyone else. This year has definitely given them a lot of room to experiment with the concept of how long before release a game needs to be announced and the marketing behind it. Which also gives them a lot more freedom to move things around behind the scenes.

Yeah, I made a small edit to clarify I'm basing my speculation based on their fiscal year + the Mario Maker 2 website that originally referred to an event running in April. I'm assuming that they would have made the announcement after the release of Animal Crossing in March. Guessing they went ahead and pumped the brakes on Mario in late February with uncertainty around how they would proceed with the celebration. Xenoblade was already announced for May at that point so that went through. Would explain the silence from March to July.

There's a new variable too, Switch is selling too well with how Animal Crossing exploded/ pandemic etc. so maybe Nintendo had changed its course to keep more titles in their bank.
