GAF's Nintendo Discussion, News, and Speculation |OT|

Also, I really don’t mind the new
ITT people commenting on if CGI female that is disproportioned is attractive or not.

It’s not my cup of tea, but there is a lot of other good stuff that interests me.

Evangelion Unit-01 Evangelion Unit-01 I’ve been thinking about your thoughts on Nintendo opening up a virtual console on the Switch. They really do need to do something to preserve their games and allow for fans to play them on modern consoles. I definitely get the licensing hell of certain 3rd party games, but Nintendo should really make some kind of archives section for their games, especially handhelds given the nature of the Switch, but it needs to transfer over to future hardware as well. Maybe they should make it where you buy a game, but then have to pay some annual subscription for your library to be able to play it on future hardware as well. That way they can can still make money off of it even if they don’t resell it to you for the 100th time. Let’s say you buy a game and only choose toward the end of the hardware life cycle to carry it to next gen, you would have to pay annual amounts for all the years you declined this feature, say $20 per year.

I’ve still got my OG toaster ass Game Boy that i received for Christmas the year after they came out. Works fine but I’m thinking it’s due for a case swap, little beat up.

Yeah, I'd like to see them get a few definitive emulators together with all the bells and whistles-save states, netplay, etc. They can set up one app per console and sell games as micros within the app. Third parties could sell their content as well piggybacking off of Nintendo's emulation engineering-just like VC before; just pay a small license fee for the emulator. Assuming the stick with nvidia/Switch as their platform in the same way that MS/Sony/Apple are then back compat will take care of the system going forward. I think they could continue to pull in revenue YOY by locking some features-cloud saves, save states, net play, etc behind NSO in addition to having the service offer a small selection of "free" games across all of the platforms.

I really enjoy the game, but I loved Hyrule Warriors too. I would say give the demo a spin it has two story stages to try and I think two side missions as well. if you like what you see there you'll be good. If you don't the game doesn't play drastically different than that. It definitely is a Dynasty Warriors game at its core, but it has a bunch of BotW touches that separate it even from Hyrule Warriors: DE. I really dug the story, but Zelda story gets me hype far more than it should anyways.
Oh that's right, I completely forgot there was a demo. Thanks for reminding me, I'll give it a shot.

Seems reasonable. Maybe we could get a P3/P4 collection.
That is what I am hoping for. P4G on Steam tells me that a Switch/PS port wouldn't be too difficult. P3 would be a little more complicated but a great way to celebrate the 25th. Still holding out for P5R on Switch as well.

I'd rather we get Apocalypse on the Switch. Cause by then we'd have 3/5 on the same system. Can't wait to grind for 400+hours again.
SMT III and V will be my first ones. I'm one of those who knew of the series but never played. Ended up playing Persona after a friend suggested it. Been waiting on SMT V ever since. Really excited to give them both a go!

The Doom Eternal port seems really well done compared to the Doom 2016 port. Music isn't compressed to hell so I can actually make out the cool soundtrack and load times are pretty short, which is awesome since I'm dying quite a bit.

I don't remember having this much difficulty with Doom 2016 and I also don't remember seeing as many tutorials as this game has, kind of annoying tbh, just let me play the game.

Also, I'm not sure why they didn't do a classic battle mode, a lot of these environments would be perfect for it.

Edit: Typo

I’m a little surprised by how well Eternal turned out. DF seems to be sleeping on it to find five days of different ways to say Cyberpunk looks good on PC, and awful on consoles :messenger_expressionless: , but the analyses I’ve seen have it looking and performing better than than the first, if anything.

It’s so commonplace, being amazed by what developers can pull off on a tiny six inch slab, that it belies the sheer enormity of the accomplishment. It is a very, very big deal to have the year’s third best looking game, packed with detail, vast levels, and visual excess in every frame, running and looking just fine on Switch with cutbacks.

Now give me the Switch Pro so I can be even more amazed.

It’s crazy to see another system absorb the other’s library to the point where there’s essentially no need to pick it up. Kind of makes me sad, to be honest. Unlike other Nintendo systems, the Wii U’s ‘afterlife’ will not be a legacy of amazing games you can play on it for decades.

That said, I’ll probably find excuses to play games on it. I still love that controller that never really got used for anything, and all the Nintendo love in the menus.

To be fair, the Wii U is great for playing previous system games. It can play the largest variety of games from Nintendo’s past library. I have a feeling it will be a hacked system of choice for awhile.

But, I have an awesome Windwaker edition of the console. You can never replace that for me! Also, no Doc Louis Punch-Out!! On Switch. Isn’t Pikmin 3 better on it too?
