GAF's Nintendo Discussion, News, and Speculation |OT|

This reminds me... all girls have the same feet.
They made one feet model and everyone uses that.

This hindered my overall experience. And I don't even want to talk about the lack of a bikini DLC...
The openness of foot enthusiasts needs to stop.

On the topic of a bikini DLC, I'm totally with you.

I think I love indies more than I like AAA. That is a statement I didn't think I was gonna say just a few years back.

1. They often come with a good price point.
2. No bullshit I.e mtx, fake bullshots etc
3. More room for innovation, risk taking and experimenting in design choices such as artstyle, control mechanics, combat etc.
4. Don't take up hundreds of gig of your storage making for fast downloads and more games installed.

Preach it loud, brother.
Indies have been the revolution the gaming industry has been screaming out for. Let all the AAAs gobble up the former AA devs (cry @ EA buying Codemasters) and give me a nice thick slice of Nintendo first party + Indies. Indies make up 5 of my top 10 games of the generation. The tides are turning.

I like your optimism! Indies are getting bigger and better. I'm going to take a page out of your book. I'm looking forward to Indie World now.

If any decent-looking indie games get shadow-dropped tomorrow they'll have an easy sale from me.

I have absolutely fuck-all to play on my Switch right now, and I can't get a next-gen console either. It's barren out there.

Have you played Ninja Warriors? If not, go play it. Also, Capcom Beat ‘em Up Bundle

Wild Arms Reloaded too

I would love to have VC of any stripe on Switch, but I gave up on that dream, oh, about three years ago. Nintendo just doesn’t seem interested in going back to that, beyond GamePassing their oldest consoles, which we are at the limits of, for a $4 a month subscription.

Playing GBA on Wii U, specifically the TV, was wonderful. Like a lost SNES+.

lol

Not your fault but side-scrolling arcade games are pretty much my least favourite genre so that's a hard no.

Funny, as I programmed one in college with friends back in 2006 because they liked them. I kept trying to turn it into more of a Metal Slug type thing. God, the fights we had over the direction of that student project... Good times.

I'm looking at Hades, Night in the Woods or Kentucky Route Zero. Hades has unreal PR but I've never really enjoyed a SuperGiant game before and the other two look like they might bore me.

I get the feeling most games didn't do very well on VC, especially third party games. Seems like they'd rather package their own games in bundles and sell them.

I liked Night in the Woods quite a lot. It's light on gameplay and focused more on characters and story though. Not sure I'd support the devs at this point though after they helped drive that guy on their team to suicide.

Holy shit, that's quite the caveat!

I'll have to look into that. Just answer me this - is Night in the Woods all pretentious american navel-gazing about "life, man" or is there actually some narrative thrust there, too? Some actual interesting events?

It's about a 20 something year old who drops out of college and goes back to her dying hometown. She's kind of fallen out of touch with her friends and starts to reconnect but things aren't the same any more. Oh. And there's supernatural stuff going on. It's quite a trip.

I really didn't 'get' Kentucky Route Zero. I don't understand why people thought it was so deep and meaningful, and I liked Twin Peaks.

My friend is playing Hades and really didn't like Transistor and thought Bastion was ok, but really enjoys Hades. I also didn't like Transistor that much.

Understandable as the sword never shut the fuck up.
