  • Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen'in Shūgō
  • Donkey Kong Country 3
  • Fire Fighting
  • Sugoi Hebereke
  • Smash Ping Pong

Sugoi Hebereke is definitely worth checking out for anyone who hasn’t

Edit: I confused Sugoi Hebereke with Hashire Hebereke. Sugoi Hebereke isn't that fun from the little I've played.

I wish I could play paper mario (64) on switch. I don't get why they don't allow people to buy their back-catalog. SPM was my first and last game in that series and maybe that wasn't the best impression of it!
Paper Mario is still the best in the series 20 years and five games later

Super Paper Mario didn’t impress at all. I’m surprised some people actually thought it was great tbh

Just started playing Breath of the Wild for the first time and damn... it is so good that I can't believe that Aonuma was involved.
I was playing earlier today, I'm 190 hours in and still have a ton left to do lol. The game still shines brightly almost four years later, I consider it the Switch's best work

I'm kind of thrown off by the Eiji Aonuma comment tbh, I think his contributions are second to none in this series. That guy's a genius

I don't understand what made you mention Aonuma? The dude was responsible for quite a lot of good Zelda games. Link between Worlds, Link's Awakening remake, BotW, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and he contributed to Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time.

The only Zelda games he didn't touch were the first three and the GameBoy ones (except for Minish Cap, which he supervised).

Since he took the helm, each game sold less and was becoming a puzzle fest. With the exception of Twilight Princess (in sales), the Aonuma Formula was so staled. Zelda isn't about puzzles, it is about exploration. No wonder that Breath of the Wild took Zelda 1 as inspiration. Going back to the roots.

Aonuma is the worst thing that happened to Legend of Zelda.

He directs BOTW too so what's the difference here? People kept complaining all time now BOTW was criticized for lack of big dungeons and vice versa for the past titles.

Where is the Aonuma Formula narrative really when he kept accommodating the critics since Wild Waker lol. Too cartoony, too serious and black, boring combat, too linear etc.

Actually, it was Fujibayashi who directed BotW. Aonuma himself only directed Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and co-directed Majora's Mask. All those games are masterpieces IMO, so he's a legend in my book.

Oh. My bad.

Regarding the topic although the difference between producer and director are big, with tight knit the internal developments are for Nintendo EPD I'm pretty sure he's not only doing general producer work with no creative support for BOTW. Just like Miyamoto.

I'm beginning to suspect that you are my clone... [kidding]. I have always felt that Aonuma's influence on the Zelda series led it astray. It's as if he saw the basic puzzles in A Link to the Past and concluded that Zelda was meant to be a series of progressive puzzles until you arrive at an end boss and have to solve another puzzle to beat him. A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time struck a near perfect balance in this regard, but Wind Waker is where the series began to minimize the combat difficulty in favor of keeping players on the puzzle-solving path.

A lot of us don't play Zelda to solve puzzles. Their novelty is nice as long as they don't get in the way of the main game too much.

Yeah I can't imagine there are many developers out there who wouldn't love to have Twilight Princess or any of those others on their resume.

No one is saying the Zelda games were bad. Even Skyward Sword is a good game even if I have no desire to ever play through it again [ever]. It was fun once.

It's just that Aonuma seemed to take a very formulaic approach to designing Zelda games.

In hindsight, it was probably best for the Zelda series for Miyamoto to step further away, and now I actually appreciate Aonuma more for his willingness expand the series to a more western RPG design. I believe Aonuma is wise to gaming trends, and that Miyamoto stepping away has had a positive impact on his ability to try new things (as weird as that sounds, since Miyamoto mostly hates formulaic games, his influence has since become known to be more of a potential nuisance IMO).

Spelunky 2 was kind of a disappointment as someone who adored the first one. Either way, I've already played both.

Just hoping for a good shadowdrop today - really need something to play over the holidays.

kinda surprised there's no thread for the Indie World Showcase? I'm excited for Spelunky 1 & 2 coming to Switch though I'm surprised we're not getting either of them until Summer 2021

I adored Spelunky 1 but didn't buy the sequel - something looked off about it and some of my concern also came from hearing the dev talk about it - like he'd fully bought into a world viewpoint that I really can't help but despise.

Was hoping for a Hollow Knight Silksong shadowdrop, or a release date, anything at this point would be heavily appreciated, it's been 18 months since we had news, well, what a let down..
