Until a game requires more than 8 GB of VRAM.

RTXGI outside of Nvidia is a joke, it doesn't work that well, that's why it's little used. It's just an SDK that Nvidia promotes, but is normally only used in sponsored games.
You don't need it to do RT, nor PT.
Most use Lumen or their own engine solutions.

Why would you go 4k at ultra settings on a 3070?

As i told recently this generation is all about CPU and AI.

As for TFLOPS and raw performance, it has reached it's limits and now all the focus is how strong is AI performance that is why PS5 Pro is not even 45% performance all the time
even though it has more than 60% more TFLOPS compare to PS5.

Industry is shifting from TFLOPS to AI now.
Reminds me of how the movie industry shifted to CGI in the early 2000s.

Anyone thinking that the 5070 will have similar performance to a 4090 is fucking stupid.

I’m serious, you are fucking stupid and the exact definition of a “sucker born every minute”

What this likely means…at best…is that games that show a generated frame on the 4090 are being compared to 3 generated frames on a 5070 or it compares the 4090 with no frame generation to 5070 frame gen.

Not remotely close to like for like.

We cannot allow AI generated frames to be used in considering real performance.

AMD now must price the 9070XT at $429 tops. $399 being better.

Having to sell something to buy a graphic card? If you can’t save for a card maybe consider have some savings first.
Well, it’s mainly consoles, collector’s editions, games, and figures that have been sitting in the basement for years, unused. Essentially, dead capital.

it's so disingenuous to claim that this means "equal performance to 4090."
It is, but at the same time, if the generated frames are miraculously free of artifacts and input lag is acceptable, then I wouldn't really blame them. After all most of their money goes into this AI research these days.
It is a big if though.

Yeah i think people forget just how big of a jump the 4090 was.
I actually wouldnt be surprised if the 4090 beats the 5080 in some games.

Like I would able to walk into my local computer store and ask the clerk for one of these cards on the shelf behind him...these are gonna be sold out online in a matter of seconds.
Yup. If it’s affordable it gets sold out in seconds. If it’s priced over the top, then there is availability.

What a world we live in.

Why so.. cheap?
How much is 4070Ti?

In DE it is 850-900-ish Euro.

5080 at mere $1k looks curious too. With AMD absent, why so modest, Huang?

Is AMD Ryzen 7 7700x still considered a good CPU combo with these GPUs? What's everyone's opinion on the CPU that should be paired with these, especially 5080?

i'm not solution compare. Just how it work.

anyway seems 5070 pretty weak so that why price is low. Raw power is Requiem and Far cry 6

Faux frames from FG eh?

Curious that it doesn't help with Far Cry 6 that much.

I think AMD will end up with something like this:

$549-599 9070 XT (64CU, 16GB) RTX 5070 + ~10%
$479-529 9070 (56CU, 16GB) = ~RTX 5070 (RTX 4070 + ~10%)
$399-449 9600 XT (48CU, 12GB) = ~7700 XT

1440p non-RT Hardware Unboxed benchmarks

Streetprice of 5090's will be 3k usd/euro, man, 4sure.
Those msrp will not hold, at least not at launch.

It is and always will be about purchasing power - companies know people in Europe can pay more so they charge more. Having currency swaps for fixed exchange rate has been a thing for decades now, I don't understand why people still fall for it.
VATs are around 20% here.

with frame gen , also 5070 is only 12gb
jensen is trolling 4090 users for laughs
More like fooling xx70 users into buying it.
650 Euro cards with 12Gb, doh.

Their statement is 100% correct. Generated frames are not performance. The generated frames have absolute nothing to do with the game engine and are not actual performance. It's has more in common with motion flow on tv's than it has with the game engine.
To be fair frame gen is a really nice feature and it certainly adds value, but comparisons between GPUs should always focus on raw fps output.

Techinically any card can have 4090 performance with DLSS, you just have to upscale from 240x180 res.

It's fugazi, and that's the intention.

Interesting that they've chosen to bump the 5080 clock speeds rather than add more cores. It's the opposite of what they did with the 4080 / 4070. Makes me wonder if it will run a bit hotter than the others.

It's just an example of VRAM extrapolation. But you can see in this test for example, whenever a game hits the 3070's VRAM limits, it starts to lose to the 2080 Ti.

And which game in this 25 minute video demonstrates that? :p

no pre order links yet right? If not, any ETA given on when you can order?

For my 4090, I sat outside BB to grab one. Might need to do the same here.

And I just want the best card for things like streaming to my Vision pro, virtual pinball, and gaming of course!

Nvidia is competing against... its own hardware. It's obvious they have nerfed the 5090 to keep the server solutions attractive. The linux box is the most interesting announcement: 20 ARM cores+Blackwell gpu+ 128gb unified memory for $3000. It seems that Nvidia want the rtx cards to go back to gamers. AMD is done on desktop; i don't see them offering an interesting alternative to the RTX 5070 anytime soon.

Pretty happy with the pricing for once. I'm not really due for an upgrade this cycle (especially since the generational leap for raster rendering seems modest), but if I was on a 30 series and looking to upgrade I would probably be pretty excited about that 5070 or 5080.

90 series is priced for chumps but that's the way it should be.

i'm not sure about the new FE design. i mean it looks cool but i love the current design of the FEs with one fan at the bottom and one at the top. it doesn't really matter i'm sure but still.... i'll miss my 4080 :messenger_sad_relieved:
