Well props to him for taking Microsoft to task on this. And he is right. Phil Spencer misled everyone during that "business update" podcast when he said "just four games". Phil Spencer knew it was more than four games and that Indiana Jones was one of them. All part of the transition to full third party publisher.
Not a fan of Destin but this snippet was legit solid one by him. Very constructive.

Honestly the guy I'm most surprised about is Tom Warren. I didn't expect him to publish that interview after the podcast.

That interview is really what kept the rumors of Indiana Jones and Starfield PS5 ports alive.

Destin is having a hard time.

Yep this is what I was talking about. That podcast was just to further mislead people and they did that 4 games question on purpose. They knew exactly what they were doing and how misleading it would sound. I was always kind of surprised Destin fell for it cause he seems like a smart guy but he just genuinely believed Phil Spencer. Now he realizes what's going on.

He pointed out Phil's misleading statements, and that's good. But after that, what he does is interesting. He does not say, "This makes me less trusting of Phil Spencer." He says, "This makes me less trustworthy [less trusting] of the direction of Xbox." He does this twice in the video. He talks about Phil's deceptive statements, then says "this makes me less trusting about the future of Xbox." If he were more honest and direct, he would say, "This makes me less trusting of Phil Spencer." But he doesn't say that.

He is uncomfortable with making it personal, about Phil. So he diffuses the responsibility on to an impersonal phrase - "the direction of Xbox."

It's an interesting little verbal dodge that illustrates (to me anyhow) how hard it is for core Xbox guys to hold Phil Spencer directly accountable, even after they know he has misled them multiple times. He did good overall, but I thought this bit of defense was worth noticing.

In not excited for this game at all. That trailer was super light on actual gameplay and what I did see seemed slow. The punches and whip seemed delayed.

I enjoyed the 1st wolfenstein but that's gun combat. It's hard to make good hand to hand combat in 1st person. That's 1 reason so many people played as archers in skyrim

It makes sense. Would you believe anyone who succeeds Spencer? Man, I think not even Reggie would be believed as a head of Xbox, and he must be one of the most beloved American executive out there.

That would be an interesting appointment, heh.

I generally don't trust CEOs of massive corporations. I know a CEO's primary obligation is to the company, his boss, and the stockholders - not to me, a lowly gamer. I hope that they will be honest, and I generally take them at their word until I hear differently, but I don't place a whole lot of trust in them.

There are degrees of honesty, though. Every CEO is dishonest to some degree, but some are more dishonest than others. Every CEO leaves a trail by which they can be judged. Phil's trail has a lot of shit on it. He has a long history of misdirection and obfuscation.

I'm just remarking on how difficult it is for Xbox guys like Destin to honestly, forthrightly say this. They need to deflect the blame on to abstractions, rather than just say, "Phil lied." They are still Phil's defenders at some level, even when they are trying to call it straight. They know he lies, but they can't just come out and say it. It's a little dysfunctional - sort of like a wife whose husband is cheating on her, but she can't bring herself to just say it out loud. Instead, it's "I find it hard to trust the direction of our marriage."

p.s. He says he's "still processing it." So maybe he'll get there. We'll see.

I knew what you meant and you’re probably right about how they don’t want any feuds with Spencer yet. But then it occurred to me that the nebulous entity that is “the management of Xbox” will never be trusted again. Even if Phill steps down. Even if Nadela steps down as well. The brand and the trust is damaged. The CEO of Microsoft will always demand results to Xbox now that they are quite the investment, and the head of Xbox will always yield to that need. Whoever they are, and what they say.

Maybe so, yeah. I would try to judge a new CEO on the basis of his/her presentation and track record, but you're right, Microsoft has not exactly established a reputation for credibility here, and anyone MS would choose to replace Phil would come from the same culture.

I like elements of it but the actions in first person looks so stiff, slow and awkward. I can't tell if they're trying to make it more cinematic but it looks like a YT video on 75% speed. The combat looks absurd.

I wanna be psyched because Indiana Jones but the gameplay just doesn't look good right now.

Damn XBOX influencers and their fanbases are truly the worse.

Notice how during the entire reveal, they're barely reacting to the gameplay footage. They're just talking about it not coming to PS5 the whole time, while deep down inside dreading the imminent delusion crushing reality check they're gonna have to spin.

They care more about the meta-game of console wars (to please their fans) than the actual art of video games. Fuck off.

While I love the original Indy trilogy and Machine Games' Wolfenstein entries, I'm not sure how to feel about this one. Hopefully it turns out great. Nice to know I have the option to play it on a proper console if it does.
