Underrated comment.Garbage developers. You shouldnt need path tracing or even RT to have those kind of shaders for wooden walls, and mettalic objects. Not to mention reflections which can be easily screenspaced in a linear game like this.
Just terrible optimization but as long as it runs at 60 fps and high resolutions on consoles, no one bats an eye.
The videos were showing off RT reflections and stuff.Expecting more than videos showing running in empty scenarios is not moving goalposts, and you saying that on his behalf is very hilarious.

drops to 49 fps unacceptable (as if it won't be playable with a VRR screen)Empty scenarios, nothing happens etc.

What about this?

jk
anyways these are good framerates for frame generation so it's not like a higher framerate experience is not possible. but I guess then you'd need to reduce the texture budget. I'd use high texture budget over ultra for that
not to mention 50 fps with reflex is more responsive than 60 fps vsync modes on consoles anyways

Why would anyone sane expect a console to match a high-end PC?Those PS5 Pro simply can't match PC fidelity according to those images.

Really? Can you name one?
I mean...
I was curious and went looking back on DF comparisons of PS5 resolution/fidelity modes with a 4090 DLAA max settings, and preliminary comparison suggests to me that PSSR is potentially a vastly superior solution. I gathered the limited samples from today's Cerny tech talk where base PS5 fidelity mode was compared to PS5 Pro that doubled frame rate in addition to improving effective resolution. For the DF comparisons, I have Spider-Man Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West where, again, Alex compares 4K DLAA max settings image quality to PS5 fidelity modes (unfortunately, DF didn't use...

Really good blog from Nvidia going into Raytracing and Path tracing. Is path tracing the more powerful brother of ray tracing?
It's bafflingly humorous to me. The game most certainly looks wonderfully current gen to my eyes in-person, even on console. There's no "laziness" nor terrible engine involved here at all. There are, respectfully, some pretty inane and nonsensical takes being spouted here. This thread is the first I hear about how "bad" the game looks. Until now I've only seen praise, be it here or from YouTube tech channels. Surprisingly enough, it seems many people seem to agree about the issues. Truly fascinating.
