I have to say I have been getting hours of quality entertainment out of AC Shadows and the game isn't even out yet! 🤣

I love Japanese games and anime but that doesn't mean "Japan do no wrong".....I definitely dont agree with them on this.

Devs should be free to make whatever they want, I dont want devs to afraid to make what they want.
 
Ishiba, who is on his way out, gave the blandest answer possible to a Diet member whose almost wasn't reelected. This is being blown misrepresentedso badly.

It's not about symmetry, values are assymetrical.
West now doesn't care much about conservative views valuing society standards way above personal freedom with lots of tradition, so if west doesn't care about killing angels, no one will do. But west value diversity, tolerance and personal freedom, so east do follow and add bits and pieces of it when depicting west themselves even if it's not exactly their cultural code.
In Rome do as the romans do - when depicting someone, depict it on their values, not yours.

If they wanted a black protagonist in their game, they should have just done it in Valhalla. No one in a western country would have had the balls to say one word against having a black Viking.

Alas, they had to go pick on a country that isn't ashamed to defend its history and culture.
 
Again, Japan does this as well to other cultures it depicts in its media from time to time, and no one really bats an eye. That they make such a fuss about this is all a bit hypocritical, tbh.

Through my own ignorance I know very little about Japans histories and cultures but playing this game with a 20 stone black samurai dude isn't going to suddenly make me believe this is what happened.

The whole controversy surrounding this game will likely permanently damage Ubisoft as a company in Japan. For some reason Ubisoft has huge issues releasing a game without some controversy since a few years. The whole company is heavily mismanaged and the best that could happen would be Tencent to take over. Save a few of the good ip's, get rid of the problematic game devs and suits in the west and focus on making games people want to play. It's not that difficult
