I probably put too much meaning behind it:messenger_beaming:

'Stop or My Mom Will Shoot' is one of Sly Stallone's movies of all time. And yes, that is Sophia (Rose's mom, and the oldest character - yet youngest actress) from The Golden Girls.

The original was real janky, is this one?
They gave reviewers the review code a month before the release so they seem pretty confident. The original was made by a starting studio with a lot less developers.

As long as you don't expect skyrim streamlined combat that requires no skill to be good at you should be fine. From what I've seen they reduced the number of directions you need to defend and attack from which makes it a bit less clunky I expect. Inventory management seems much better as well, you can switch between 3 outfits easily so you don't need to remove and equip it piece by piece if you want to go from stealth to combat. Those were my major issues with KCD.

Everyone says the combat is smoother, more responsive and better. But how is the combat 1v2+.
In the original the combat turned into incomprehensive mess whenever you had to fight more than 1 opponent.

Great video

I have been to the Czech Republic once and had an amazing weekend there. Prague is a gorgeous city and the countryside is incredible. Both KCD games do a great job of conveying scenery incredibly well, too.

And what this Tuber has to say about King Charles is true too. Charles Bridge (photo below) in Prague is really cool, and I think that it was a big inspiration for Bloodborne. In fact, I have a feeling that Prague was one of the largest inspirations for Yarnham in total.

Czechia is not small or unimportant.

So, any Steam CCU peak bets?

Mine is 300-350K.

For reference, I estimate Avowed to get around 50K.

I think that is probably unreasonably high to expect from KCD2. That is what Starfield did and that game was hyped to the heavens. And had a huge build in audience too. KCD did 100+ and that was super impressive but it did have also the kickstarter push behind it.

I think it will do something like that again. 150 to 200k should be great for it.

Prague was indeed amazing. Loved my time there when I visited about 10 years ago and would love to come back.

Also, Bohemia was an HRE elector, its King was a Prince of the Empire and some the Kings (like Sigismund) held Emperorship. Although the inheritances and titles were way too convoluted in HRE, lol.

Sigismund was Prince of Luxembourg and inherited Throne of Bohemia amongst other titles as an example. Anyways, Bohemia was a pretty big deal back then.

It is crazy just how convoluted the Holy Roman Empire was- you're 100% right about that.

I have also been to Luxembourg... and if I were Sigismund, I would much rather have reigned over Bohemia. Now, don't get me wrong, Luxembourg is a very cool and historied country. I just feel that Czechia is way cooler.

If I ever make it back there, I really want to visit the Sedlec Ossuary, also known as the Church of Bones. It is estimated to contain the skeletons of 40,000 - 70,000 people. Maybe someday.

Third DLC for KCD2 will take place in Sedlec btw.

I agree - even in scope of EU we are 9th most populous country (out of 27) and have decent economy. Our game industry is vastly more impressive than of many other EU countries (lately even more than that of Germany, which is insane to me).

However, there is a certain "inferiority complex" undercurrent in some people here - even Vávra talked about how the biggest critics were always Czechs, with their "Nobody abroad cares about our history, nobody will buy such a game" takes. It is very gratifying seeing such naysayers being proven wrong, of course.

In other news, this was just posted by a youtuber "The Singleplayer Squad" in community section of YT:

Alright, so I have more than 50 hours in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 now and yesterday, JESUS yesterday when I played I was blown away. I am STILL relatively at the beginning (crazy right?) and had like the most immersive moment / occasion yet, which, thanks to the biggest chunk of the embargo dropping tomorrow, I can show you tomorrow. There will be only very slight spoilers in that video, nothing that will ruin any moments for you though, but just a friendly heads-up that if you absolutely do not want any spoilers even for side stuff, then better not watch it. To *me*, so far, this game really feels like the "GTA 6 version" of Open World RPGs, in terms of scope and quality of the content, so I hope there is some understanding now why this game gets some extra presence on this channel.

I can understand these critics feeling slightly inferior, as Czechia has pretty much always been under someone's thumb until 1989 (honestly, you could even say 1993, as that's when Czechia split from Slovakia). It always takes a while after becoming fully independent to regain your identity along with your sense of pride. I've seen that same thing happen a few times with divorces. Please note, I could be completely wrong in my take due to being a foreigner and not knowing all of the intricacies.

I am an American who has lived in both Belgium and Germany, and there is just something different about the Czech Republic. The citizens carry themselves in a totally different manner. They are more friendly towards outsiders and just feel like they are happier overall. Plus, let's be honest- Budweiser Budvar is WAY better than that piss water they pass off as Budweiser here :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'm really excited for KCD2, because it seems as though Warhorse has learned many important lessons and have applied them to this game. I've watched quite a few first impression videos on YouTube, and everyone is gleaming regarding how great this game is.

I played a bit of the first one, as I bought it to play on PS4 Pro day one. I was pretty disappointed at the state of the game, especially upon release. I'm not sure if you played it when it first came out, but everything had loading times, to include when you're just having a quick chat with an NPC. While they fixed the loading issues, the game was still not the best looking on PS4 and it was capped at 30 fps. I really wish they would've removed the fps cap, because it would have helped future-proof it for the newer gen. /end rant

Yes, the console version was rough. Issue was with the old 5400rpm drives. On PC with SSD there was one 5 second loading when starting the game and then no loadings until death or game restart. Fortunately this gen has SSD by default.

I agree, 300k would be insane. It's not impossible but would be a great outcome

SSD was more or less mandatory for the first game I'd say. My first 2 playthroughs was on an HDD and that was painful, though I loved the game so much I kept at it. Did finally make me upgrade to an SSD tho.

Starfield had huge hype, but it was also on gamepass which took lot of that number. KCD2 is only on Steam and Epic at launch (and nobody buys on Epic except Tim). I am very curious what the result will be. I think lot of people will be surprised by just how good the game will be and the word of mouth it will generate.

I don't think pc gamepass is that big so it shouldn't have taken that much from it. Who knows we willl find out soon enough. As long as the pubs are happy and we can get more it's all good.

Mega hype for me. Shame I'm still waiting on my 5090.

This is up there with any game I can remember for a long time.

I just received my day -1 copy (I could've gotten it sooner as it shipped on Friday, but the courier company doesn't make deliveries over the weekend). I'm going to start the game install, although I don't know how much I'll be able to play today since I'm a bit busy.

Edit: Not sure what's up with this big ass day 1 patch though. It will basically overwrite the full game that's installing from the disc.

are you on base PS5 ? if yes can you tell us which is the best mode ?

PS5 Pro, and no I can't since I'm still at work and I'll be busy afterwards.

Edit: I think there's only one mode anyway for the Pro, and I can't test on the base PS5.
Only one mode on Pro. DF didn't say you can use quality or performance PS5 on Pro. If we could then DF would have tested both modes on Pro to see how it runs with higher FPS at least performance mode.
