Kingdom Come: Deliverance II ⊰♖|OT|♖⊱ Stop! Or My Henry Will Swing His Sword!

I uninstalled it. I wanted to like it. I kept going back to it. What ended my run was I was 1 step away from the castle, so I took on a bunch of other quests. I kept circling around the objective, leaving for periods of time, going wherever I wanted. Where I ended up was getting arrested for murder, being branded, and now everyone ignores me for barter. Not only that, but each quest felt like I was circling some kind of may pole without a real reward. I spent my points on skills I thought would be useful and I was a level 9 or so.

I want to like it, but it’s been such a time sink already. It’s an addicting playstyle, but the rewards aren’t that great if you ask me. I feel less control than I do in most games. Maybe I’ll go back someday. I’d rather fight Malenia back to back.

What’s weird is, I thought I was going to really click with this game. Oh well.

There's a perk that makes brands dissapear faster

I’m a bugger for skipping in-game instructions, so I’ve made the game 10 x harder than it should be. Only through messing around with menus have I recently discovered that I can only have 3 side-quests active at any one time. No wonder I’ve been struggling to complete some of the quests!

Although, my biggest issue has been trying to find the time to really enjoy the game because it isn’t one to rush through and grabbing an hour here and there hasn’t been ideal.

I’ve just found a pretty decent bow, which is great because using a bow as my main was my intention when starting the game, but I haven’t yet figured out how to use it, or if I need to create complete arrows with the various arrow heads that I have in my inventory.

I never knew that about the quests 😲

Also yeah you have to have arrows equipped as well as the bow to use it, I've never made any but found/looted a bunch over time as I usually get only one shot in before I have to go to my sword

As far as I know you can't craft arrows. You have to equip both bow and arrows. And you'll have to practice a LOT to be good with it.
Try shooting archery targets and wild animals to increase your marksmanship skill.

Also read books, pay skill teachers to help you.

And keep in my mind that some important perks aren't in the marksmanship skill tree.

If you go with bows, you should pair it with some poison for the arrows. Pretty OP...

Pro tip for extra 10-15fps, enter this console command:

e_svoti_AsyncCompute 1

(sorry if old)

As it names suggests, this enables async compute on the global illumination system.
Is this safe? I mean will I get random crashes or artifacts/etc? I have a 4070 super btw

Toledo steel? Finally a game to appeal to us spaniards! :goog_relieved:

Few minor issues with the games but after 40 odd hours this is shaping up to be an all timer. Some of the writing is genuinely excellent.
I'm finding it well written when it wants to be serious, but also very funny when it wants to. I swear I've laughed out loud a few times and usually no game manages to do that.

Yeah this is why the writing is strong in this one. Its so well done. I love the silly characters and conversations and some of Henrys replies are just gold

This is something I will never understand. Just let me scale up the UI/HUD elements. It can’t be that hard to implement. Ím having a hard time using the navigation bar as I can’t tell what symbols belongs to what quest. Makes it really painful to navigate sometimes. This is something that should be included in every console game
agreed!

Oof things get spicy after the wedding, i kinda felt... bad on my first important decision after that and loaded the game again to act different, and things can really change depending on your choices i can tell o_O but i'm going to play fair and move back to the first decision i made

Insane game so far

Combat is simple, watch what your opponent is doing and trick them.

If your opponent is left handed and is holding their weapon to their left, what would you do? You'd attack their right side which they're in position to swing over to block, then attack their left which they'll need to swing back for and then you attack their right side. That's the most basic of combo's. Another is if they have their weapon above their head. They're can block the head and are waiting for a stomach stab. Instead attack their side and then go back to the head. When you think about it, it's just following common sense. The longer your combo is, the harder it is for your opponent to guess your plan of attack.

Just never attack first...never. Always wait for yr opponent to attack first...than (perfect) block....than try immediately to hit them afterwards. As Gymwolf already mentioned in this thread, you are basically invincible this way. When yr stamina is depleted, dodge backwards, bring distance between you to recover stamina and wait again for yr opponent to attack.

Yeah. Took your guys advice. Watched YouTube videos.
Spent 2.5 hours on Bernard. Learned master strikes.

I still don't fucking get it lol. I practiced with him, and he just keeps destroying me. He just dodges, or ripostes, or when I try to perfect parry the window to get it is so tight that 80% of the time I miss it.

Like he'll have the sword above his head. And I think "ok, I'll hit him from the bottom." Nope, just brings the sword down on me.

I couldn't even do these master strikes he taught me. I was ok in the tutorial. Then when I went to practice with him, poof. Nothing was working.

Anyways, deleted the game. Gave it my best shot. Thanks for the advice guys.

Then why bother with master strikes at all? I don’t use them either and still manage fighting pretty well, especially with the perks available.
Uninstalling the game for such a minor thing that can easily be ignored is akin to a childs temper tantrum.

He is a captain of the guard., a seasoned veteran fighter. Maybe do some practice (Bernard offer the service) and level up your peasant Henry first before challenging the next level fight. Stats matter too. Low STR make your swing weak and easy to block too

This game never fails to make me laugh 😄

While it was my intention to progress forward after the wedding/bell quests it turns out I missed some stuff here including a pretty big questline with the miller, cue another 20 more hours in the starting region, will make the eventual move to greener pastures all the sweeter.

GOTY? I think it may be the best RPG I've ever played. In any year.
Yeah I can agree. Immersive, well written and with lots of different gameplay mechanics, all backed up by the system and usual RPG number crunching.

First game was a surprise for me and an instant favorite, and this one is even better.

I love this photorealistic style more than anything. So insanely immersive.
Warhorse are among the top tier creme de la creme of this industry. You can complain about jank or whatever, but this game has vastly deeper mechanics than pretty much 100% of other AAA games.

Yeah the visuals are sometime stunning.

I was around the Trotsky castle in a grass field and the clouds happened to block out the sun, the game right then looked photo realistic.
Hit me right in the feels, reminded me of exploring this as a kid.

Ugh, I think I’m about to restart after 25 hours...

I rushed through the side content and main story because it felt a bit dull, and I was eager to reach the big city.

But now, I’m really regretting it.

Big mistake yeah. I'm finding all the sidequests to be great, each one with their own nicely written characters and surprises in the stories they tell.

Like how a mission about finding a hermit in the woods can lead to you fighting against a bunch of inquisitors. You never know where those sidequests are going to lead you, it's never dull stuff.

You can return, I myself felt the same and just went back to the first map.

Just wondering if anybody can help on the part I'm stuck on

Sir Hans is asking me to "bring him his armour", when I try to give it to him, he complains it's not good enough and to bring him some better armour

I repaired 2 pieces of the armour, and he accepted them, now I'm stuck with the other three pieces in my inventory, and he won't take them, even when I try and repair one of the remaining 3 to 100% health and give it to him, he won't accept it

The door to the area is locked, and I can't leave without doing this first, so I'm unable to get any more gold to even attempt to fix the other three pieces of armour

Do I really need to fix up all 5 pieces of armour to 100% health before he'll accept them, because the guides I'm reading are saying you only need to repair two of them to make the quest progress

This is at the end of the first castle, possibly just before I hit the second map

Honestly not sure if I'm just missing something obvious here or the game has soft locked itself

If it is anything like the first game ( I am 5+ hours in and no bow yet, lol) there may be archery competitions. In KCD1 I would go to the bow guy near the town with the drunk priest and pay the 5 or 10 coins to do the competition. He gives you arrows to use each time. Choose beginner competition and if you win (not hard when the others suck more) you get your money back and a cut of the others entry, plus archery experience without having to waste your own arrows. I leveled up my bow skills a lot like this in the first game.

What is that last photo of? Where is that? Were you able to explore that on your own or was it some guided tour? I would of loved that then and now, being big into history. Most I got to explore were closed down Insane Asylums, abandoned pocono mountain resort, old hotels, homes and factories. A castle would of been the jackpot.

Just now? :D After how many hours? I love the combat and im trying to avoid using master strike, because it makes it so easy. I feel like im too powerful now, i just dueled someone in the story and 2 shotted him :D

Yes because I have been avoiding combat so far to be honest, and today I decided to focus on reading and improving my sword skills and defeating Tomcat. Yeah you are right that it makes the combat a bit easier but still I feel like its really satisfying to be able to parry enemies. Where are you now? Did you arrive to the big city?

No spoilers but I had a moment in this game today.

I said something I shouldn't have. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Then that little nugget snowballed into a bigger thing, and then it grew to a really big thing until that one slip of the tongue had cornered me into making 1 of 2 choices, and both were shit. I witnessed some pretty terrible stuff as a result of my carelessness.

I've NEVER had a game like this do anything like this before that I can recall.
