Venus, Swine & Do What U Want are still my favourites. Also liking GUY, Aura, Applause, Dope and Artpop.

Some safe-sounding stuff on here. Gypsy's anthemic pop is very crossover chart-friendly. The bassline to Fashion starts out like Madonna's Holiday and I thought "oh no, not again!", but it's just same old generic disco-house, catchy but boring.
I can't wrap my brain around Jewels n' Drugs. Who are these rappers? What is this cookie cutter track there for? Is it to reel in a missing demographic for a few more sales? I don't understand the audience for this, lol.

It's still too long like the previous albums, repeating itself. 10 tracks would've made it killer.

It's hot garbage. Don't try to understand it. Just delete it and make the album stronger by its absence.

I'd say Jewels n' Drugs is on there for it to be a potential cross-over radio smash.

I think the instrumental is fire and the chorus isn't bad.

This family is stupid attractive

Best parts.

Just started listening. The first four tracks to the album are really strong.

G.U.Y needs to be a single at one point.

Edit: Oh no.. why does ARTPOP sound so watered down?

So far, the only iTunes Festival song I've heard that I feel is trumped the album version (if only by a smidgen) is MANiCURE. Absolutely love the new additions.

"Salons enough fa' her
to not feel so insecure

i want to hate venus.

this planetary breakdown takes me hostage ;____;

Venus has grown on me so much. Sounds a lot better contained in the album too

Agreed. Manicure is a great improvement. Sex Dreams is pretty good too but the others it's a definite downgrade

Got all the way to Swine before wanting to end my existence.

Do you all think this is actually well produced pop album?

There are bits of good to be found (G.U.Y. and Manicure are both alright), but everything about the album left me thinking they found the loops and instruments from 2007, almost mirroring some of the sounds from Britney's Blackout.

Nothing about it is new or really interesting, It just is. For someone with such a persona it is just disappointing that it isn't even different or interesting or exciting.

Urban Gaga is best Gaga.

I agree with this in theory but give me some inspired beats and some worthy MC's and then we're talking. Like if Primo did a track for her and O.C. came the fuck outta nowhere, dropped some bars, and killed it. Some gritty NYC connection shit.

I think it is a fairly standard pop album. There's nothing really about the production that's breaking some ground in the mainstream or anything.

But I think it does what it does fairly well and for that, it's commendable. The production is nice and varied enough so as not to get repetitive, and Gaga's vocals and melodies really do shine in a lot of the songs.

She delivered within my expectations for the album because I never expected her to re-invent the wheel. It's just a polished pop album that has high enough highs without too many lows. It's certainly not in the running for my AOTY or anything. But it's a pleasant album overall and right in line with what I expected.

I just don't think that sticking close to the status quo is something be commended for. I guess I had different expectations going in, and came out the other side less then impressed. I know it is comparing apples to oranges, but at least when a big mainstream act like Kanye talks a big game he backed it up with something interesting.

I think calling an album Artpop and then delivering 15 songs of varied quality with average production and calling it a day is just a bit depressing.

Yeah, the album doesn't deliver on the title concept at all. In fact there doesn't seem to be much of a concept in general, it could be called CELEBRITY or something like that and make more sense.

Just give me Sexxx Dreams/Manicure to MJH. The start and end can go the fuck away. The TI track too, get that shit outta there.

Manicure has really grown on me. It's just an insanely catchy song. I also like the generic/guitar riff beat. It all sounds good to me. Still not a big fan of this album, but I'm starting to appreciate more stand alone tracks.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
Gaga's still one of my favorite music celebs (the other being Madonna <3) but I have to say, after listening to each song several times over the past 24 hrs, this is her worst album so far..... besides the legendary "Venus" of course which is one of my favorite songs of hers ever (so glad it's getting a video)

This is the first album of hers with no skippable tracks for me. Born This Way was my favorite Gaga album but I tended to skip Bad Kids, Highway Unicorn, Black Jesus/Amen Fashion... I think the quality of all these songs are much more consistent and the disparity between the highs and lows isn't that big. For a pop album with more than 10 tracks, that's pretty impressive.

I'll need a few months to decide whether I'd rank this higher than Born This Way, but all logistics point to yes.

My two favorite tracks are probably Do What U Want and Fashion.
Fashion gives me a 70/80s vibe. I'm a sucker for oldies.

Honestly, currently I'd rate this as pretty weak (behind the Fame which was mostly filler) - the more I listen the more the 'filler' tracks become obvious. IMO Fashion and Donatella are b-sides at BEST - and that's being generous - then you have super average stuff like Jewels & Drugs and G.U.Y. The whole thing has zero consistency, there's no flow, it's just random styles and genres mashed together with admittedly slick production, all the subtlety of a sledgehammer and no focus. I've come to accept she doesn't actually know what subtlety or nuance is. At all :p

I really enjoy Venus, DWUW, Aura, and SexxxDreams. Artpop production is really nice too.

Honestly if it was just 5-6 songs, lke an extended EP that would be padded out with app releases as it went, I would be a lot more forgiving. As an album it's messy and pretty average. I like how she has kept it quite tongue-in-cheek but I honestly think she needs a producer who can reel her in and bring out her best points and stop the bad ones.

I aam sooooooooo fab.

Check out I'm blonde.

I'm skinny.

I'm rich.

And I'm a little bit of a bitch.

Vapid and gaudy can't be used together. This song is straight up gay. Come at me.

No love for manicure?

I love that every song captures a unique sub-genre that's found relevance in the pop scene at some point. Since she's described the album as a journey through different types of pop music, it's obviously intentional. For example:

Venus - Bowie/Sun Ra space glam-pop
GUY - 2000s Gaga/Britney sex-fueled pop romp
Sexxx Dreams - Madonna circa Justify My Love, smooth pop-R&B
Jewels n Drugs - Early 2000s pop-rap hybrid
MANiCURE - Yeah Yeah Yeahs type punk-pop
Do What U Want - Classic 90s R&B anthem, Michael Jackson circa Dangerous
ARTPOP - early 80s psychedelia with glam influences
Swine - Modern day EDM
Donatella - RuPaul/Hi Fashion gay "culture-pop"
Fashion! - 70s disco-pop
Mary Jane Holland - 90s stoner anthem with Iggy Pop/Freddie Mercury influences
Dope - Classic-modern day sadcore rock fusion (thanks Lana Del Rey)
Gypsy - Springsteen/Paul Simon Classic Rock with Mediterranean folk influence (one of my favorite genres)

Aura and Applause are harder to pin down because they transition between a few different types of influences, but I guess that's what makes them good bookends for the album.

I suppose the "art" in the music is in how she arranges it as an exhibition for the genre. It's a showcase. There's definitely an artistic flair in its execution and I think she's making a point that the genre is more substantial than we give it credit for because of all the different influences it draws from and invokes. She's of course not the first person to do that (and she's said that "ARTPOP" has been around for a long time and she's just making a point about it) but I honestly love seeing someone make a case for a genre we all know gets flak for being generic/cookie cutter.

I'm sure this album will get mixed reviews, and it bothers me that a lot of it will be because of the ambitious sounding title. Whether they believe so or not, Gaga delivered (to me at least) music that can be described collectively as ARTPOP, but I know the title will be a hangup for many.

I'm expecting this too. Most of the reviews will attack her and her outside persona and actually ignore the content.
It happened a lot for Marina and the Diamonds + Electra Heart too

The only truly great pop song on this album is ARTPOP. A shame really. Topping TFM just moved further out of the realms of possibility.
