Dope's grown on me. But Fashion! still leaves me flaccid. I love the piano intro, but the rest of the song just doesn't live up to it. Not to mention, it's just redundant especially coming after Donatella in the tracklist.

I'm somewhat of a casual Gaga fan thanks to a friend of mine who kinda got me into her. There is a lot of stuff I don't like but I like about a handful of songs off of each of her albums that I like a lot. Artpop leaves something to be desired in my opinion. There is only one song I really like, which is G.U.Y. The rest ranges from decent (Aura, Venus, Applause) to just straight up bad (Dope, Jewels n Drugs).

I will admit that Swine is the least impressive song if only because it was so great at the iTunes festival. The second chorus break with her crazy shrieking and then the transition into the "paint her face and/catch the beat" breakdown was so epic. It had such a tense buildup that was gratified through that last breakdown, but it got totally flattened out in the studio version. It's quite a shame.

Sexxx Dreams is mediocre, but it has one of the best parts of the album - 2:35 -2:50.
Dope is her second best ballad, don't know what you're talking about.
Donatella is held back by the first part of the chorus.
Fashion! is held back because of the stupid talking and ending.
Venus is held back because it has one more bridge than it should.
Artpop is meh.
Manicure is a The Fame filler.
Swine is bad but has some good parts.
Aura is 90% trash.
Jewels & Drugs is garbage.
Mary Jane Holland, Gypsy, Do What U Want, Applause and GUY don't have downsides and are the best songs.

I mean I agree with a lot of the points you make (Fashion ending, Donatella chorus), but they don't necessarily ruin the songs for me. I still consider both some of the best on the album. It is annoying though when inherit flawless tracks are lessened by something small, I have that problem with G.U.Y. and it's chorus.

I felt like a lot of the iTunes Festival songs were superior to the studio version. More energy (Swine), better vocals (Artpop), line delivery (Manicure), better chorus (Sexxx Dreams). Still a fun album, though.

the title "Artpop" is so ill-fitting for this album. She should have titled the album "Aphrodite". Unfortch for Gagita, Kylie already has an album with that title
so all up. awful album. Lots of tracks I can't sit through.
I know... one of the biggest disappoints.
I think most everyone hates the album version and prefers the booming "Come to me" vocals of the iTunes version over the album track, aside from godelsmetric.
I'm keeping the iTunes Festival versions of Artpop and Sex Dreams (Sexxx Dreams does not exist in my mind). Surprisingly I'm okay with the new version of Manicure, I even think it's better. Jewels N' Drug and Swine I dont even use so I dont care for them. The demo version of Aura will also replace the final, and I will continue using Gaga's old Fashion song instead of the new one

Fashion! Has grown on me more than any other song. I thought it was bland filler at first but it's climbing up the rankings at a rapid pace
As for swinefest songs, I think I'll swap out the album version of Jewels and Drugs and Swine for Swinefest. I like sexxdreams but I just wish she'd repeat the line 'Making love in my sex dreams' just one more time. I'm not to keen on ARTPOP either so I don't really care about that one and Manicure is an improvement
As it stands right now, ARTPOP is my favourite album from her, and dope aside I really like everything

I was thinking this in the car earlier - "Goddess" or something would've fit perfectly given how many references there are in most of the songs. Especially the opening ones.
I'm liking Dope a bit more, but her voice is still a bit much on it.

1. Sexx dreams is OK. But it isn't really that exciting, it doesn't grab you. The CHORUS is not my style.
2. Aura has the CHORUS. That alone makes it a decent song.
3. Swine has a good HOOK. That makes it good.
4. Artpop has a good beat. Don't think of it as a dance song, think of it as a sophisticated song.
5. G.U.Y is good, but not at the same level as the top songs in the Album.

The only tracks I really didn't care for were Gypsy (boring and "IMA IMA IMA GYPSY IMA IM" sounds sort of jarring and no-effort) and ArtPOP (also boring). Venus is probably still my #1, but I also love Swine, Dope, and Jewels and Drugs... I feel like the songs I like the most are the ones everyone else hates. <_< A great album though, no need to skip any except the two I mentioned. But I'll be surprised if they don't grow on me later, since I only listened to them once so far.

I can see the Katy comparison in just the sense of Gypsy being very radio friendly.
If it recalls anything musically speaking, it reminds me of a Born This Way song. It's quite dad rock sonically.

I told you, Gypsy is the most radio friendly. That's why it may remind you of Katy Perry; she (or whoever does them) does safe radio friendly songs to slay them charts with the help of brainless teenagers and not so teen.
I also told you Fashion! is not as bad as everybody says and it's in fact good and certainly better than Aura, Manicure, Swine etc.
