I think the lies of p studio could make a good castlevania. it would be cool if it was like a version of simons quest where you go to villages, countryside, mansions, then ultimately the castle

How about a totally new game... no more stupid remakes.
Remakes have their place too, but yes announcements that are hyped should be for something new.

I would like to see an Arkham Asylum - like Castlevania. No QTE shit, just 3D Metroidvania with great gothic graphics, great boss fights, and cool powerups.

Really looking forward to what comes out.

I personally had high hopes for Konami's comeback and so far I haven't been disappointed.

This could be cool! I just remembered I bought the Castlevania DS collection on the Swtich now, gotta get back into that

The main question here is if it's going to be 3D or 2D.

If it's 3D I hope they follow the template set by Curse of Darkness, if it's like Lords of Shadow I'm not buying it.

If they go 3D, I think a more Arkham style system (fighting and traversal) with more spectacle would lend itself better to Castlevania than going Soulslike. With well telegraphed attacks and flowing gameplay.

Would prefer a proper 2D game and statistically it should be the safest bet because every 3D Castlevania is shit

I have to admit that Konami is honest in their attempt to revitalize their IPs.

Also, this game will be a remake, going by what they did.

Silent Hill: Silent Hill 2 remake.

Metal Gear: Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.

Castlevania: ... my guess is a remake of either 3 (because the first Netflix series was based on that and 3's cast is going to be familiar to new players), SotN (it's the Final Fantasy 7 of the IP, basically) or perhaps even the very first Castlevania.

What is a AAA Castlevania ? Lords of Shadow? Of course yes.

But a good Castlevania isn't AAA and certainly not made by Mercury Steam. LoS was too much story and presentation and sadly not much of anything else.

To me a good castlevania is so many things. It needs tight control first and foremost. A setlist of moves and skills to further enhance the exploration and platforming. A big map that's unveiling as you progress with many branching paths. Many secret and weird detailed rooms. It needs to include the Castlevania bestiary, not only an handful of them but all of them. The enemies have each its own life and death animation. You make them fun to kill because you'll be killing them a lot for their loot. And the most important, music! Each level requires a quick presentation with a title and a themed song to hype the fuck up the player.

So, all the opposite of Mercury Steam. The only one who can do that is Koji Igarashi.

Make the game a 3d action/adventure game with horror elements throughout the entire game. Let us explore different cities and environments as well as create a bounty system where you can hunt otherworldly beings for rewards as a side quest. You can do alot more with castlevania in a 3d environment than a 2d one and i hope it's not 2d.

Bloodstained was mid.

What you didn't like about it? I think it had being 3D going against it.

To me it was superb, the playthrough was ton of fun. A wild ride throughout a multitude of interesting levels and loads of thing to do. I couldn't put it down tbh. But for each its own, what's your favorite Castlevania?

The key is to have a castle that is fun and rewarding to explore. They can borrow a lot from the souls likes here.

Combat should not really be like Elden Ring IMO. Should be more deliberate and slower, sort of like OG Dark Souls but completely focused on the whip and traditional castlevania weapons. Bosses should maybe more like Zelda bosses to some extend than the From bosses.

For reference, the last AAA Castlevania game was Lords of Shadow 2, so I'd suggest keeping your expectations in check.
