Most likely it's 2 years away, next year playground is gonna be busy launching Fable, so yeah.Any news at all regarding the next Forza Horizon? honestly, it's the only thing I'm waiting for, specially if they stop being stupid and do it in Japan, like people have been asking for for ages...
Two different teams are handling the games though. Most likely it's 2 years away, next year playground is gonna be busy launching Fable, so yeah.
The two teams strategy has never worked out for any studio really, they're gonna pull everyone together in the final stretch of crunch on Fable, I doubt we'll get Horizon next year, plus MS probably wants to space them out.Two different teams are handling the games though.
These are not two teams, these are teo completely differentiated Studios although sharing the same technology (ForzaTech). The two teams strategy has never worked out for any studio really, they're gonna pull everyone together in the final stretch of crunch on Fable, I doubt we'll get Horizon next year, plus MS probably wants to space them out.
Well said. These are not two teams, these are teo completely differentiated Studios although sharing the same technology (ForzaTech).
The development of Fable is supported by almost the entire Eidos Montreal staff. Forza Horizon Studio works separately, even in different offices I think.
I don't think the development of one is affecting another. What I do believe is that the release date of one could affect another. That is, I don't think that if Fable is planned for the end of 2025, it is pertinent to launch FH6 on the same dates.
On the other hand, next year there will be 5 years of development for an FH... It would be more than double the time that previous FHs needed.
I think everything is open.
They were severely limited by the Xbone hardware, unable to make dense urban environments because when people say they want Japan they probably want Tokyo as a city to drive through, Horizon 5 already dropped to 10 fps when driving into the simple city they had on standard xbone. Maybe they'll be able to do it now but it also means a lot more work than what they're used to with empty fields and mountains so it's gonna take more time either way.I think even before Forza horizon 4 people were asking for japan.
But yeah I also think their main work force is focused on fable and even though there must be a second team working on horizon 6 I dnt think they are launching 2 games next year
IF it is finally Japan I don't care to wait for another 2-3 years if that means they come up with an amazing game. Just hope they don't "built from the ground up" like they did with that dumpster fire of Forza Motorsport. They were severely limited by the Xbone hardware, unable to make dense urban environments because when people say they want Japan they probably want Tokyo as a city to drive through, Horizon 5 already dropped to 10 fps when driving into the simple city they had on standard xbone. They've put their foot on the GaaS.Forza Horizon 3: September 2016
Forza Horizon 4: October 2018
Forza Horizon 5: November 2021
Maybe they are increasing the development cycle even more?

With the launch of a new KUNOS Simulazioni proprietary, high-performance photorealistic engine, VR and triple screen support have become first-class features and the new mathematical model meticulously simulates asphalt performance in different dynamic weather conditions that guarantees an authentic and realistic experience which will redefine the standards that have made Assetto Corsa globally renowned.
Assetto Corsa is not about graphics necessarily, GT7 is different since it's a Car Porn. AC has better physics, though.Wet tarmack looks a bit like in the GT7. Finally end of the over-shiny gelly looking tarmack like in many other racing games (eg. FM'23).
Cars also look a lot better now. Not GT7 level, but colors, models and materials look good.
That's also truth. Btw. I wonder how many road cars will be in the new Assetto Corsa, because I don't care about race cars that much.Assetto Corsa is not about graphics necessarily, GT7 is different since it's a Car Porn. AC has better physics, though.
No raytracing but looks good still.Steam page for Assetto Corsa EVO is up
Wet tarmack can actually look super shiny/reflective in real life.Wet tarmack looks a bit like in the GT7. Finally end of the over-shiny gelly looking tarmack like in many other racing games (eg. FM'23).

Looks good but it's crazy that 11 years after GT6 on PS3 we still have polygon edges on small details when GT6 had adaptive tesselation to make everything perfectly round. Also no RT or even interior cubemaps ( crazy that PD is the only studio that came up with that solution and nobody copies it).Materials look so good on AC evo
In the last update things have improved, but the general improvement has been going on for several updates. Now, definitely, It is more visually consistent.Apparently Forza Motorsport got some big upgrades visually in the last update, especially on console. Anyone tried it out yet?
Got to agree. The texture resolution looks superb but the shaders aren't good.Senua
Dunno, looks kinda average by todays standards. Nothing stands out. If anything. Im kinda underwhelmed.
Ooooh thanks for the summary, can't wait to give it a try for myself. Not played it for ages so should be very noticeable. In the last update things have improved, but the general improvement has been going on for several updates. Now, definitely, It is more visually consistent.
-They have improved the appearance of skies and clouds.
-Contrast and color. -They have resolved many bugs and circuit details. Especially in repetitions.
-RT reflections have improved.
-They have resolved the SSR artifacts during the rain while the windshield wipers were working.
-The asphalt and AF have improved. Raindrops on the asphalt.
- The lighting and shadows of the car interiors have been tweaked for the better. Bugs that existed in many of the cars when using the interior camera have also been fixed.
-The way car lights are represented has changed. Now they are more realistic and less artificial.
-AI behavior is better but still needs to improve.
-New circuits that are better detailed than those that were at launch.
In short, now the game is what it should have been at its launch.
PS. What would give it a plus from now and need is the inclusion of fictitious circuits and renewed menus.
I dont know if the upgrade is "big", but surely the game looks now crispier most of the time.Apparently Forza Motorsport got some big upgrades visually in the last update, especially on console. Anyone tried it out yet?
Yup they've made nice strides towards what it should've been from the start. Fair playI dont know if the upgrade is "big", but surely the game looks now crispier most of the time.
Midday with clear sky is still quite bland, but other times of day, in combination with new skyboxes and color/contrast changes, look definitly more punchy than before.
What is left and what is right?Im back on GAF after a long break. Just tried the visual mod on FM (23) and it made me angry again. Where is the RTGI that was promised at launch, why is the track details (grass, trees, objects) cut down from the pc version while its in the files folder the whole time. WTF is wrong with those guys. They have made some good improvements compared to the launch version but after seen the difference between RTGI and full track details it feels very little in comparison.
Just have a look, this is what i expected (outside the bugs and shitty denoiser) from a current gen FM game running on pc. The quality of the lighting, materials, shaders, reflections and track detail is signifcitly improved.
It is surprising that they have not yet solved the issue that the maximum PC version in official settings does not show the same level of detail and amount of vegetation (trees, grass and grass) as the XSX version in quality mode. Especially more surprising is the matter when everything is inside the game files in a hidden configurationIm back on GAF after a long break. What I want to know is if left is PC and right is XBSX or both are PC/XB, photomode/gameplay, etc.
Left is the base game on pc maxed out 4K ultra settings and right is the visual mod with max settings that enables RTGI and higher quality track details thats in the games folder. What is left and what is right?

Well thats the problem. It was supposed to be there at launch and still after 8 months there are zero updates when it comes to RTGI.Regarding RTGi (based on DF's video) , It is a great visual jump... but it seems that it is not yet ready to be launched (many bugs and it does not work during night races) and on console it would only be left for replays or for a mode at ~1080p or several cuts.
All pc max settings in gameplay. What I want to know is if left is PC and right is XBSX or both are PC/XB, photomode/gameplay, etc.
Very nice the mod doing that too.Left is the base game on pc maxed out 4K ultra settings and right is the visual mod with max settings that enables RTGI and higher quality track details thats in the games folder.

FORZA MOTORSPORT new roadmap
The game continues to improve and it is clear that it is now much better than when it was launched.
This game has been out for almost a year now. Did they finally include the full raytracing with RTGI they used for reveal and promos but then never released in the real game?
It would be interesting to redo this comparision and see if it's closer to the reveal or it still looks mostly the same as what they really released a year ago.
There are many things there that were UBI-level of scammery:

What a sad generation for racers, nothing to discuss in a thread like this, nothing to look forward to, pathetic.

I was specifically talking about graphics, all these look PS3/early PS4 level, not much excitementCarX Street just released.
Test Drive Unlimited is about to release.
Assetto Corsa EVO is is coming.
Assetto Corsa just got Pure 2.0 and is constantly evolving/improving.
RaceRoom is getting a graphics overhaul tomorrow.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer and NIGHT-RUNNERS in 2025.
Rennsport is in beta.
Wreckfest 2 announced.
A bunch of other sim racing titles recently released or will be releasing soon.
Lots of great indie racing games recently as well, even if they aren't as graphically advanced.
I feel like it's a great time to be a fan of racing games, even if they're not all competing for best visuals.
