Does that mean "any value smaller than 100,000" (so anything from 1 to 99,999) or does it mean a number near 100,000 but not quite 100,000?Captain Smoker said:xx. Okami < 100.000

Wow, the Wii is really strong.
I don't think you're going to like what 3rd party devs pursue based on that Wii Top 10. Zerachiel said:According to the chart, 3rd party sales averaged averaged 53% for the first 18 months. Multiplying that by 50 mil, we get 26.833 mil 3rd party Wii sales. Just subtracting known Halo 3 first-month numbers from MS (anyone have LTD?), we get 26.7 mil 3rd party MS sales.

3rd parties do better on Wii confirmed.
EDIT: crap, I forgot Halo 3 wasn't in the first 18 months. Still, MS has probably sold less. I don't think GoW counts; it was developed by Epic, after all, but PGR3, PD0, etc. almost certainly push it below 26.833 mil.

They dont have a problem selling third party software. Apparently the consumer has decided Ubi's goods arent good enough.Scrubking said:Not getting any serious fanchises or games from 3rd parties is not a problem? Do you work for Ubisoft?
Well, more that Wii sports sold the console, and then once people owned it they bought a lot of software.HK-47 said:Indeed. It was probably good for Nintendo in the long run that the distributors pushed for a 250 pricepoint.
D.Lo said:Can't use Halo, but you can use Gears, PDZ, Kameo, PGR3.
Also, you can't just average the rates in those '3rd part sales rate' Nintendo charts as game sales were not equal among the periods shown. Obviously more game sales happenned in the later part of the year, and as more consoles were sold.
All things considered, there's basically no doubt Wii sold more third party games in it's first 18 months then the 360, and likely by a decent margin.

If Rayman had to go to differents locations in a big place to activate the minigames instead of just selecting these minigames, it would have been a sandbox game.

It makes you think just what the hell Nintendo has to do to get more quality 3rd party titles on their system. I mean, it's beyond pathetic at this point. Nintendo almost can't do anything more while still being friendly to third parties (like restricting their gameoutput and or stop the shovelware like they've done in the past). Unless they moneyhat every single big game and/or just give up convincing them and just buy almost all the western third parties out and make them 2nd party devs. But seriously, it's really strange. You would think the least (the bigger) company's could do is allocate more resources to Wii? Make Wii versions alongside other versions or create a Wii-centric development team (like how EA has done a while ago). At least Sega seems like it's reacting in a good way (slowly but steady).
Atreides said:Not GTA, but I have played and seen other sandbox games. Perhaps I'm wrong in some things, but the patterns in sandbox games is: you go to places marked in the map (you have several places to choose), activate them and start to play this part (I would call this a mini-game). Correct me if I'm wrong here.
I don't know if Reggie said that, but you make some valid points considering the PS3. Imo, it doesn't have a stronger library than Wii has. Both have their killer apps and AAA+ titles and everything, but because Wii gets more shovelware it seems like the perception is that it somehow doesn't have a good enough library. I just looked and in Wii's current line-up I got 20 upcoming third party games that are great/very interesting, across a vast diversity of genre's (not 1 non-games in it and most of them are exclusive). This is without Nintendo first party games (which they'll also announce more off on e3). I don't come even close to that on the PS3's current line-up. Just saying.NintendosBooger said:Didn't Reggie state that it would take 2-3 years for third-parties to catch up? The Wii is less than two-years-old, so it's not even reached the minimum cut off. Furthermore, how many great third-party games are on the PS3, in comparison? IMO, it should have more, being the successor to the PS2. I'm not trying to compare the two next-gen machines in any regard, just illustrating that the Wii's current third-party situation might have more to do with the naturally sluggish speed of third-party developers to pump out good games at a consistent rate than any strong reluctance on their part to support the Wii.
dammitmattt said::lol :lol :lol
Yes, you are extremely wrong. The core gameplay is the shooting, driving, and exploration, and no one in their right mind would call these "mini-games." Sandbox games are divided into four distinct parts: missions, side missions, mini-games (like bowling, darts, pool, and the Qubed in GTA4), and fucking around.
What sandbox games have you played?

But yeah, I think Wii's biggest problem is not the amount of quality titles per se, just the lack of quality ports of multi platform games. Because this creates a hole in Wii's line-up that the 360 and PS3 both don't have, purely because of high profile multiplatform titles. Well, at least Activision seems set on turning that around, since their biggest games (Guitar Hero IV, Call of Duty IV etc) will be released simultaniously on Wii too. I hope third parties take note on Activisions current, and hopefully near future succes.
Atreides said:Well, then probably I'm wrong. The only one I own and have played a lot (but this perhaps is not much of a sandbox game) is NMH. I have played and see others like godfather and some others in some friends place, but it's true that I only tested them a bit. I'll try to test some of them more throughly, I haven't before because I really dislike having to spend time traveling between places in the city.
