How come no Sony PR or numbersestimates?
archives and anthology are separate collectors editions. including those, re6 did break 1 million this year...
I expect for batman but I obviously don't know..
True. And when you look at revenue, RE6 is still a top 20 game for the year.
Any info on Vita?
#1 3ds game > vita top 25
Xbox numbers in the US are mighty impressive.
From the statement next to their number I'm assuming PS3 sold close to 700k?
#1 3ds game > vita top 25
Any info on Vita?
Also, Vita sales for December were between 200-250k.
200-250k for a system that's anything but alive according to some people doesn't seem that bad, Sony still has time to pull a Phoenix Wright and turn things around.
In other news, 3DS most likely sold more units in December than Vita LTD.
Did you catch the last line of my post?
Anyone?Wait, what are Paper Mario SS's numbers like?
Anyone?
The game passed 500k in Japan (or something close to it if I'm remembering wrong) so I'd like to know it's performance in NA for comparison.
Did you catch the last line of my post?
Who would choose to make a Vita game with such lousy relative (and absolute) sales?
I thought this would be interesting since NPD revealed the top selling games of 2012 in North America.
Here's the top selling games for each year in North America since 2001.
2011 and 2012 are combined platforms. Before that the NPDs did the top 10 based on single skus, so the lists look a little different prior to 2011. I didn't list 2012, because it's already in the original post.
Well that doesn't really help. The paper mario is 68% of another mario.

This is from last month.
NPD 2007:
- 1) Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat (360, Activision)
- 2) Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, Nintendo)
- 3) Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS2, Activision)
- 4) Wii Play with Wii Remote (Wii, Nintendo)
- 5) Assassin's Creed (360, Ubisoft)
- 6) Halo 3 (360, Microsoft)
- 7) Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day (DS, Nintendo)
- 8) Madden NFL 08 (PS2, Electronic Arts)
- 9) Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (360, Activision)
- 10) Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii, Sega)
Well that doesn't really help.
There are like 5 other Mario games on the system :/
In other news, 3DS most likely sold more units in December than Vita LTD.
Didn't look at the rest closely but your 2007 list is wrong. Halo 3 was easily the top selling SKU of the year.
What do you mean by LTD?
Well that's not too bad a number. Hope it did better this month though. I would guess ~350k total right nowHe was most likely referring to NSMBU, which sold 243k in November. Meaning Sticker Star did 166k in November.
Life to dateWhat do you mean by LTD?
Get the sales of memory cards first I'd think. But what about digital sales from PSN AniHawk. NPD doesn't count those!
Surprised 3DS sold so well.
NPD 2004:
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2)
Halo 2 (Xbox) - 4.2 million
Madden NFL 2005 (PS2)
ESPN NFL 2K5 (PS2)
Need for Speed Underground 2 (PS2)
Pokemon FireRed (with adapter) (GBA)
NBA Live 2005 (PS2)
Spider-Man 2 (PS2)
Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)
ESPN NFL 2K5 (Xbox)
It sold well, but a bit disappointing when compared to last year.
Considering it's holiday lineup though (Paper Mario, Layton, and...) it sold well for what it is. I expect monstrous numbers this year, with Pokemon and Animal Crossing now in the mix.
Because they have nothing good to say. Who would put out a pr that says "our console is dying and our handheld was doa"?
Least they could do is issue a press release saying "PS3 is hitting its stride while PSVita is just getting warmed up for its marathon race."
Which explains its better sales last year. New titles, and bundles for the new titles helped propel the system to big heights that year.Mario Kart and 3D Land were released.

They are down 25% yoy.
.Mario Kart and 3D Land were released.
that really speaks to how crummy this year's been.
Do you have Nintendo reports from that time?
There are sources that cite NPD figures between 1.8 and 2 million for N64 sales in 1996, including 290k on its first month (Sep, 1996).
Edit: blast from the past: http://wayback.archive.org/web/19961112125805/http://www.npd.com/toyspr1.htm
leondexter said:I admit that I'm going from memory, but that's from Next Generation magazine, which I do still have. I'll take a look when I get home. Maybe it was just for the actual launch day.
There's no way the N64 did 2 million in '96. I don't see any figures on your link, just a ranking?
edit: now that I think about it, I believe there was an article the next year about how they diverted N64's from Japan to meet demand in the US for Christmas. I'll look for that as well. Still no way they hit 2 million. 2 million would make the N64 the best-selling system at launch, ever, in the U.S., over the first 4 months. We'd have been dogging on every other system launch since then for not doing better. Just no way.
edit2: after a couple of google searches, clearly I was wrong and the 250k was the launch shipment.
Goes to show that launches aren't everything; we all know how that race ended.
NPD is going to be worthless at reflecting the overall state of software next gen. DD on consoles is going to continue to ramp up, while software at retail continues to decline.
Has anyone released a larger number of exclusive bombs in a single year as the PS3 did in 2012?
Put a few more hours into zombiu tonight. What an awesome, unique experience. I'd like another one so tell your Wii u friends to pick it up, yah?
Well I'd also like a new no more heroes but I don't see that one happening either heh

Yes because a karting spinoff, Relaunch of an IP from a bygone era that targeted the lowest common denominator, and a SSB-ripoff is truly new and revolutionary.I guess they need to create more hits than the same old franchises everyone's getting bored of. Plain old fashioned franchise fatigue.
