Pokemon TCG Pocket just dropped

I just had a 30 round draw game online... 30 is the max number of turns.

My side had 2 butterfrees which can each heal 20 per round, so I had 40 healing to all 3 pokemon every round, and I just shuffled them endlessly -- I couldn't go for the killing strike because they had the omazyte or whatever thing which prevents the active pokemon from attecking next round, and my only pokemon capable of the finishing blow was one energy short, which constantly had to be spend to keep circling ... so we were stuck in an infinite loop until 30 round limit, lol

PVP is weird, some players are instantly conceding, or are spamming card effects. Still not too bad overall. I am only doing PVP to gain EXP. Gimme more content!

I've just been opening free boosters every day and nothing else, got some great cards so far

Mine was too until I got my first God Pack in Wonder Pick, couldn't miss! I ended up getting a Full Art Sabrina
I didn't know God Packs could show up in Wonder Picks, I've had 2-3 God Packs so far, which gave me three Golden Crown MewTwo Exes, and a bunch of other great cards.

If we aren't already friends, ad me and maybe my God Packs will show up to you guys as wonder picks

Anyone else, feel free to ad me as well

Those purple ribbons? That's honestly really cool, I get my ass kicked almost every time I play pvp

I just kept a meta game going with 2 Pikachu Ex's, a Zap, 2 of those Helio lizards, Pikachi/Raichu and Voltorb/Electrode with 2 Sabrinas. Lol, the moment the 2 Pikachus come out its usually over. While the Raichu is the dark horse with Lt. Surge.

Annoying to fight against, Mewtwo and Gardevoirs, Moltres and Charizard, Venusaur and Exeggutor, Lapres, Articuno and Misty's and of course fighting Pokemon being a Weakness.

I have a dragon deck that has a pretty solid win ratio, getting close to the gold badge for current event now.

But it has 0 EX in it, so there's nothing to let the other person gain 2 prize cards off a single kill. It's all card abilities + dragons, which are super powerful once you get them ready even though they still only are 1 prize card to defeat.

Abilities are my favorite part of the game; I build decks around cards that use abilities from the bench. I can very consistently (almost half of the time) have 2 butterfrees on my bench at the same time by mid-game, which means +40 healing of all pokemon every round.

I love abilities, but I hate EX cards... the GX/V/Mega etc increase in power is why I came to hate the physical cards too. It just gets annoying because 99% of the decks I play against are EX stacked, as if those are the only cards that matter.

The best thing they could do for future versus events: have a unique deck restriction per event, and/or something like an automatic stadium effect. Eg. maybe you take 10 damage every time you attach an energy, or all retreats are +1 cost, or you can only use non-EX, or your deck can only have a certain number of supporter cards, etc -- force people to build unique decks with strategies for each competition, instead of spamming the same boring metas all day.

They actually have these restriction in Solo at the highest difficulty. You're right about the abilities but some of them make the Mewtwo pairing extra powerful with Gardevoir. Then the EX Venusaur is just an insane HP boost. But the meta is revolving around high HP and EX cards that do high damage. I mean I could replace Voltorb/Electrode with Magnemite/Magneton x2 and keep getting electric energy and just play safe until Lt. Surge does his thing. The most annoying of all tbqh are Butterfrees, Ninetails, Pidgeot and Koffing in foils with abilities 😂 they're even worse than EX cards when people use them correctly.

Also good luck on the Gold badge diddy!

wait, what? I have all the solo flags (from the step up sequence -> expert and also the event ones that are gone now), I don't recall any deck building restrictions. Maybe I missed some mode.

edit: oh right, you mean the "rarity" restriction probably; which is de facto kind of a non-ex restriction, so yeah. I almost forgot, I got those flags / goals for the non-rare decks fairly early in my plays against expert mode since most of my decks didn't use high rarity anyway, lol

I think people don’t like going first. Every time someone concedes early on for me they’re supposed to go first.
It's objectively worse than going second, so I don't blame them. Hopefully it gets fixed for you folks.

When "trading" is enabled, the game will officially be busted. People are going to create alt accounts, rip open new packs, and trade the best to their main account. I wonder if there is even anything they can do to stop this. Playing online is already meta-boring with the same decks running all the strongest cards and it's only been a couple weeks.

80+% of fights is that fucking mewtwo deck.

Game feels stale after 1 week of playing.
I’m out lol
Maybe if/when they update it I’ll download it again.

it's definitely a problem and the reason I find all CCGs to be broken in the internet era (back in the 90s? early Magic? that was amazing)

But they could easily improve it by doing the thing I mentioned above, and making each event have its own specialized rules that force you to create totally new decks to adjust. Or even a set of 3 or 4 "stadium" effect cards that are specific to each event, where you can view those in advance but they get randomly chosen for each battle.

Anything that lets decks be uniform across players and competitions is anathema to what makes CCG fun, IMO. The number one motivation of the company behind the game should be to make deck building as situational and strategic as possible.

I've figured out a strategy that's going to make me win 100% of matches. I'm simply going to take the entire 90 seconds to make each move until my opponents get sick of waiting and rage quit. I'm going to bore them into submission.

Someone tried that on me 2 nights ago and suffice to say "when an impenetrable wall meets an unstoppable object". The wall was penetrable since I was played the same game with them. They ended up Conceding instead 😂

I didn't know the GBC sequel existed until this thread, so go figure I am playing that which has been here the whole freaking time instead of this game now. It completely replaced playing on my PC for days I just keep plowing low res card battles. Once I beat it maybe I'll try pvp in new version. I fell off after TR so it's gonna be an experience, don't know any newer cards or rules.

Do you have normal Exegguctors? I ran them for awhile instead of EX, and they still did the same job of being a tank to build Venasaur, just a little weaker. I still did well with them before upgrading.

I'm an all or nothing kinda guy. I only want to run fully optimized (ex) decks, especially at this stage where it seems you're only fighting optimzed ex decks.

There are secret missions in the game.

From what I’ve understood, you need one of each of the legendary birds with the “rainbow” boarders (2 stars) to get the Legendary Birds Emblem.

For Mew you need to collect at least one of every 150 Kanto Pokemon.

Can confirm the bird emblem. I got it this week and wasn't even aware this emblem was a thing, as I haven't seen it before. Such an awesome surprise.

My current progress:
  • Money spent: €130 (premium and gold)
  • 223 packs opened / 1.209 cards collected
  • 246 card dex completion
  • 1 star: 34 (not including quite a bunch of duplicates)
  • 2 star: 8 (including 2x duplicate)
  • 3 star: 2
  • crown: 0 (still :messenger_crying:)
  • Fully optimized decks: Pikachu, Starmie/Articuno, Mewtwo/Gardevoir, Charizard, Machamp, Greninja/Articuno, Koga, Dragonite, Melmetal
Hourglasses have been out of stock for a while, so I've been saving shop tickets for the 'special shop tickets'.

got the gold crown event emblem this morning for 45 wins -- and won on a game where I had to go first, against a stacked deck -- long game where we both had drawn our entire decks several rounds before the end, feels good

I'm curious how the matchmaking works behind the scenes; certainly it seemed like I was competing with people with 30 or 40+ event wins for all my last battles.

I'm the opposite, so many basic packs lately. Are you premium btw? I ran the premium trial and it felt like my packs were better back then.
This is purely anecdotal, but back when I was hoping to trade between multiple dummy accounts, I set up game saves on an iPhone, an iPad, and an Android, and the Android app seems to give me by far the best cards, in particular the MewTwo packs. The iOS ones are pretty awful.

Man, Nintendo will NOT stop throwing God Packs my way. Opened one with a Crown rarity MewTwo Ex (I have 4 now) and 3(!!!) Articuno Exes (the rarest ones) yesterday. Sigh...

I heard 1 crown is worth 64 special tickets, so you could grab all the special ticket cosmetics.

Also I learned that 300 shop tickets only gives 1 special shop ticket, which is grindy af. For some reason I thought it would give at least 100 special shop tickets.

As for pack points, I've been spending them on 3-stars for dex completion.
