Pokemon TCG Pocket just dropped

Man, this game is really starting to annoy me. The cards I've been pulling have been straight garbage, and I don't want to become the kind of person who's always thinking that the next pack is gonna be ultra rare cards. Might uninstall this today.

some of questions:

What is the point in the pack selection screen? I mean say I pick a Pikachu pack it then takes me to a screen where I can scroll sideways through more packs but they are all the same?

Do we have any idea when new expansion will release?

Is the artwork on these cards exclusive to these cards or are they all based on physical cards? I’ve not bought any cards for years but I only recognise one of the Pikachu arts.

the different packs have exclusive cards in them. you can look through the list of chance percentages to see exactly which packs can have which cards.

the screen after that where they are in a circle is purely cosmetic. your choice doesn't change anything no matter which you choose. the cards inside the pack are randomly generated after you open one

Been playing this over the last week and it has been pretty fun.
Yeah it's a bit annoying how it seemingly has 24 different types of currencies, and it does use the typical mobile game tricks to try and get you hooked. But even without paying anything I've gotten a decent selection of cards and the online battles are fun for when you've got a bit of time to kill on the go.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me like a lot of the super rare cards don't really do anything different? Like my supposedly super rare golden Pikachu does the same as the regular Ex Pikachu.

These have to be intentionally added to the game just for the sake of reaction videos like these, right?
I don't really know how to calculate the statistics but given the drop rates they show in the game what are the chances of getting all of these cards in a single pack?

I pulled a god pack with three Charizards, two golden and one full art, all one one pack a few days ago and posted a pic here

After a bit of save scumming on my second phone, I was able to pull a pack with two gold crown rarity Charizard Exs and one 3 gold star Charizard Ex, along with two other three gold star cards:

All from one pack. This is the guide

I wish I'd known this when I first started!

Unfortunately this isn't my main TCG game save and I don't know whether I'll be able to trade them to my main

Don't get too excited about the trading system, I was working on another account and slowly stopped when I heard you will have to have at least 3 copies of a card (whatever rarity) before you can trade it and it can only be traded with that rarity.

I hope it isn't true but it'd be on cue for them to do this to stop people from boosting cards.

Yeah, that's why I said "unfortunately" I already know they're not gonna let me get all these cards on my main account, so it's a waste of time looking for them

I'm really hoping in the end it ends up being that you can only trade with friends + you have to have been friends with them for 30 days or something. Keep the rarity restriction in place, but don't make it so you need at least 3 copies or whatever.

Only because I can't see them making a card market on the app like the Pokemon games for actual Pokemon, or doing wonder trading but with cards (this is already a nightmare on the main games too).

I really wish we could get another game like the Pokemon TCG gameboy game...need something that can be enjoyed a single player experience for a change, especially since it's been so damn long since the GBC title.
There's a sequel to it that's Japan only but it's fully translated. I do wish there would have been a GBA or DS version with better graphics and more expansive world but alas.

I think it'll just end up being that you can trade any card less than a crown rarity, because I swear to god I've opened at least 3 crown Charizards and 3 crown MewTwos in the past week by opening packs on different devices. There would be simply no need to ever spend money on the app if people could just do that

Now that I've been doing some more battles I don't really get the balancing behind the first turn.

The player who goes second not only gets to attack first but they also get to attach energy first?
Idk how it's these days in the regular game but if I remember correctly back when I used to play you could attach energy on the first turn. So basically one player would get the energy advantage while the other ones gets the first strike advantage. But here the second player seems to get both?

Also if anyone wants to add me 5917190652485506

That's not your friend code, bro, that's your customer support ID (I think). The friend code is the 12 digit number.

I'm at the point where I'm waiting for the next Booster Packs to release. Played like every deck a bunch in PVP, completed the first set outside of a couple of high end cards (hoping to trade for them later). Have so many copies from the Wonder Pick Event & Lapras Event.

Currently on 43/45 PvP event. As much as I love the Koga deck playstyle, it's falling off, while I've been doing decently with Machamp ex and Melmetal decks.
Also I've found Articuno ex + Greninja very fun to play, but it has a high coin toss factor (Misty).

Would like to finally get the Exeggecutor ex's to try Venusaur ex and Butterfree decks, but luck is not on my side, even after opening a shitton of Charizard packs.

Do you have normal Exegguctors? I ran them for awhile instead of EX, and they still did the same job of being a tank to build Venasaur, just a little weaker. I still did well with them before upgrading.

I guess I'm not getting that Lapras card. I got Pikachu like 4 times in a row, just now got the Clefairy. I think the Lapras card is the only one from the event I'm missing.

Interesting Tier list breakdown …

Pikachu runs the meta by a large margin. The highest deck in this list that I can create is the Ninetails Rapidash deck list which has given me my 10 wins in the pvp event. Good luck trainers. Add me if you want shop tokens.

In the regular game and Live, the player who goes first gets the energy advantage and the second player gets first attack.

finished the lapras event and practically zero rewards...I've never uninstalled a game so quickly

I avoided online for a while, and still feel wary about it... but after building the perfect dragon deck and beating all the expert CPU challenges in a row with the same cards, I took it online for a bit this weekend. Seven matches played... perfect streak of 7 wins, and most of them were against asians lol

might stop there for a while to keep an undefeated record

GOT IT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. I did the expert mode or whatever because you don't use stamina if you lose the match. I lost a few times but eventually won and the first time I won I got the Lapras EX card.

pro tip for deck construction: you don't have to use all the energy types based on your cards; you can, for instance, have grass Pokemon in your deck but turn off grass energy on the deck config

I do this in my best decks because I usually have at least one basic/1/2 Pokemon of a different base color that I use strictly on the bench for its abilities, but don't want its energy type polluting my turns. Pokemon with bench abilities are amazing, and once you realize you don't have to be restricted to the color(s) of the rest of your deck, it opens up all kinds of interesting combinations.

you had to fight the event matches over and over again to get packs and hopefully get all the event cards twice or more.

if you have a strong enough deck you can just let it auto play for you once your stamina regenerated.

I've completed all the SP content, including the lapras event. Shame you don't get a bonus for completing all objectives. Hoping for a new event soon, otherwise i'll just be opening packs to pass the time.

I did the same, 100% of missions on single player. Running out of SP missions is what finally made me do some versus... but it's actually more fun for me to build unique decks to beat the CPU than it is to play online, humans suck.

One thing I've already noticed about online play, that I absolutely despise: everyone has the same damn decks. As soon as I see the type, I know what the rest of the cards will be. There's a standard Mewtwo deck, a standard Bulbasaur deck, etc and they're always identical.

That kind of thing ruins the game. I guarantee that no one has my deck since it's unusual and mixes 3 primary color types with a lot of tricks / abilities, and mine usually wins (had some losses at last when I played handful of matches today... both super annoying ones). I honestly wish they'd just eliminate all EX cards because those are so predictable. My main deck has 0 ex.
