PS5 Pro discounted in UK (Curry's, Argos and EE)

Correct. The base PS5 is going to outsell the Pro 5 to 1.
As they would have correctly forecast.

The amount of copium as if Sony has went of and made millions of these devices and will somehow be sitting on millions of them I do not believe.

I think they have probably learnt something from PSVR2….. well hopefully 😂

They're trying to drive traffic to their store. Hopefully get some word of mouth and social media traction. Looks like it was a good bet.

Uhm site wide discounts are normal.

I don't think consoles often get discounts like this a week after launch. I think it's not normal at all.

Though I should say that when I saw this had been posted on Hotukdeals, they didn't make mention of the other consoles being discounted. I probably wouldn't have made the thread, had that been indicated.

I called it. Same thing happened with the PS4 Pro. it was down to $340 a week after launch for black friday sales.

If anything, it's more of an indication that Argos are desperate to generate traffic for their web site during black friday

I ain't even bothering with it until sometime next year. For the amount I use my PS5 and the stuff that's actually going to take advantage of the Pro capabilities, and the fact it doesn't have a disc drive, well, there's honestly no point. Really ain't worth bothering with. Guessing a lot of people feel the same since it's not exactly flying off the shelves.

No, I want a PS5 Pro and I thought the price and lack of disk drive/stand was an insult to their loyal customers so I would like to see it fail at their MSRP price as I feel Sony needs a little humble pie, especially in the UK, Europe, AUS and Canada. Seeing it potentially have to be cutting the price due to lack of sales early would instil my faith in humanity a little and hopefully allow me to buy one sooner rather than later. :D

Win, Win!
If you wanted it, I think you'd have bought it. I am sure you have spent close to the price of the Pro on something else, that you actually were interested in. It is perfectly fine for you not to be interested in the Pro console if it doesn't have the features you need or want. If it doesn't sell to their expectations, they will drop the price and if you can justify it then, more power to you and if this were anyone else, I would probably take them at their word, but, it's you so I am not soo sure.

If you are being genuine, then, color me surprised. Still, the need to see something fail that you have a passing interest in, or small interest in, is just weird (again, if you actually had an interest in it, you'd have got it already, even if you didn't agree with the price).

EDIT
And the main thing you keep hanging on to... is the price. You highlight that any chance you get, ignoring the fact, that most of us would like to pay less for things we want, but since we want them, we pay the price, because we find some value in it. You obviously don't and seem to be in denial or want others to think you have a genuine interest.

Was it?

"The PS4 Pro does not appear to be discounted anywhere. However, Best Buy will give you a free console with the purchase of a Toshiba 4K TV on Black Friday."

"No PS4 Pro deals so far

We haven’t seen any deals for the PS4 Pro on its own yet, but we’re awaiting ads from retailers like Amazon and Target."

(one deal if buying it with a TV).

You have an abnormal/unhealthy level of interest in seeing the Pro fail, where you even ignore the reality of the situation. It's a Pro console which exists alongside the base model. It doesn't need to be flying off the shelves (would Sony love that? of-course, but that isn't the point here).
Thought I was the only one who noticed. Dude has jumped off since Phil’s Redline announcement. One minute? Kumbaya. The next? PS5 Pro took my lunch money!

I want it, not at £830. I would feel scammed at that price, so I'm waiting. I will 100% buy one when the price is right for me. No offence to anyone who sees the value at full price. I cant understand it and I think everyone is nuts buying it at that price without a disk drive and stand but I'm not telling anyone how to spend their money etc. If people think its worth it and enjoy it thats great. I guess we should just say nothing at all if we arent interested in something but this is a discussion board and I guess/imagine the point of it all is that it is healthy to read peoples differing opinions.

yes it was. I remember it all too well because i had this whole thing with amazon who refused to price match the pro i had just bought and asked me to return it, and then order a new one. but i had downloaded all the games and didnt want to go through the return process.

target was also offering it too and i wouldve gotten an extra 5% off thanks to the target card.

I will just add what I said post edit here.

And you can certainly share you opinions but that's the thing with opinions, people can challenge them. Again, if I am wrong in reading you, my bad, but it just doesn't seem genuine to me based on how you conduct yourself here.

Found that with 10 seconds of searching. So this isn’t unheard of.

xbox series s was aviable for preorder under msrp in germany.
A few bucks off. not much but it was. So its not the fastest.

If its a site wide deal, then well, those things have happened before and will happen at times.
Would be a very fast discount if its a "real" discount.

For example in germany we have a store chain that from time to time promotes "no VAT"
they just eat it themselves. This goes for everything on the site. so if a console would release day and date, it would qualify as well.

Well yeah its not going to sell at £700 + 100 for disc drive. Its getting to Winter and people are going to tighten their wallets on unnecessary spend and start to think about gas and electric bills (which is bloody high here) and Christmas.

Plus families are still buying Nintendo switches for their spouses for the Holidays lol. Or stretch to a PS5.

Weird presumptions based on a site-wide discount?

Or did you miss the statement that PS5 Pro is outselling PS4 Pro?
Look I agree that’s a good sign but how many can even find a PS4 Pro on store shelves anymore? It’s been out of production for years.

It is obviously Sony's doing and a galaxy brain move.
They discount 50$ on the ps5pro but add 500$ to the disk drive price thanks to goddam scalpers (all scalpers are Sony employees, all scalping proceedings go directly into heman hustler stupid ass pocket.

Look at him with his smug smile posing in front of the castle he built using our hard earned money

Crazy timing - a week after launch and on the run up to the Christmas period - you'd expect these would be flying off the shelves, not being discounted.
It's the middle of November. And I doubt Sony expects a $1k CAD console to "fly of the shelves" when they have a perfectly fine $600CAD alternative on the same shelves.

one single outlet in nowhereville, UK does not equal global prices.
Should really rebrand GAF to BombaWatch.

Seems like every other thread the past few months has just been about desperately wanting gaming products to fail.

I can promise you my comments are genuine. It's fine to not believe me but if you saw my house you would see that I am genuinely being honest that I want one.

I genuinely just find the product as a bit of an insult not including the disk drive. That's just my thoughts on it. I never thought they would only offer a digital version. I think it's slimy. Simply that.

That's basically what the discount was for me (I got it for a few quid less) through my works discount portal. I wouldn't put any stock in this being a reaction on it not selling well or anything like that, since it's one store doing it and it almost matches the 6% discount you can get through an employment reward program.

Worth mentioning that for those that get these kinds of rewards, you could potentially knock up to another £40 off this bringing it down to just over £600. Pretty good to be honest.

UK Retailer, Argos, have cut the PS5 Pro price from £699 to £659 within a week of launch. I assume they must be drowning in them and that the appetite for Sony's latest console isn't there currently.

Is this a stealth official price cut? It'll be interesting to see if other retailers cut to the same price across the board.
PS4 Slim was sold at a 100 Euro discount 2 weeks after it came out in 2016. Ok - it took a week longer - but that was a 30% discount, not 7%. 🤷‍♂️
My guess is the retailers have some pricing flexibility built into late gen SKUs and use it as they please.

As someone else mentioned, ps4pro was also cheaper first holiday season, which lends credence to my theory.

Good spot OP, £40 off is a good offer by Argos. Showing as last ordered 3 minutes ago and 100+ added to baskets in past 12hrs. Seems healthy enough to me.
