PS5 Pro reviews

This opinion is not trolling when you take into account the price of this box imo
Stupid review

“And if you're looking to play games in the best way possible, a PC still presents more value for money.”

A $2000 PC is a lot more money for similar quality if you can’t tell much of a difference from PS5 to PS5 Pro
From all the ps5 pro threads we know money isn't an issue. If people are making jabs at users who "can't afford" 830 pounds then it's fair to say there is no argument at the price of a decent pc. If this is your hobbie and you love it 2 grand for the best experience possible is nothing to most.

And to that zubie tech post. Why not load any of the great PC ports not some piece of shit Sony port that is literally the worst example of PC ports in the last 10 years. It's like loading up Alan wake 2 on a 3 grand PC and ramping it up to ultra with over 100fps and then loading up the shimmering mess of a ps5 pro patch and doing it the other way.

Look at consistency across multiple titles.

Facts of a gaming PC.

Every single game can be user tweaked to what they want to play it at. Huge improvements across ALL games the day you buy a new gpu.

Ps5 pro.....let's hope someone patches it and then it could still be a bad patch.

I didn't feel that this would be thread worthy, but with all the PS5 Pro threads, I wasn't really sure where to post this. Picking up my PS5 Pro later today, and it just got me thinking...I'd really would like a display that can 120hz mode, but I really don't can't break the bank. The PS5 Pro is reasonable to afford because I can get almost half the cost by trading in my current PS5, but a tv would be all out of pocket.

Any recommendations on a reasonably priced, but still well regarded 4k 120hz tv? At least 55 inches I'm thinking, but probably no bigger than 65.

TCL QM7, basically the best bang for buck TV out there. You won't find anything decent that's cheaper than it.

I know you said 55” but if you are in the USA I saw Best Buy has the 48” LG B4 for ~$650. Other than that, either the Hisense U8 or the equivalent TCL is a good bang for your buck purchase.

Blah, blah, blah...I have yet to see a single mention of the most important potential issue by far:

How's the stability? Are we talking Boston Dynamics or is it more like Radio Shack?

Can I just put my M2 SSD from my regular PS5 into the PS5 Pro? Will it work? Or do I need to reinstall all the games?

I fully disagree.

The problem for me with this generation and with the PS5, is that there are too many graphic modes and graphic settings to configure and compromise on. There shouldn't be any graphic modes or settings on a console. Otherwise, I'd just get a PC.

That's why playing games on Switch is more comforting for me, you don't have to worry about any of that stuff.
I really hope that the addition of PSSR for PS6 will lead to an end to this graphics setting madness. We have consoles so developers can decide the best way to present their games, offering six or eight graphics mode is insane. I think Hogwarts has even more.

My brother, if you hate the 2-3 graphics options on console which mostly just downgrade the graphics for 60fps or turn on ray tracing, then you would HATE gaming on a PC and it would provide you no comfort at all.

However, I do agree with you, but PC gamers do not. You are correct that convenience and plug&play and uniform hardware are a huge advantage on console and will only be matched on PC by a bespoke prebuilt like a steamdeck, which is designed from ground up to copy Nintendo switch and to be convenient like the console it directly and indisputably rips off.

Very early days, but I adore my new Pro. Its a silent well built bit of kit. I will be changing the plates. But hardware side its great.

I'm not using VRR to test. So my first test was with AC Valhalla. I know the game extremely well and know where the stress points are and I used to have tearing issues. It also runs with DRS. Off to Jorvik I go and not only is the image now crisper due to higher DRS but I simply cant get it to tear any where anymore. Big thumbs up.

Next game was Horizon Forbidden West. I only tested Pro Performance mode, but it is better looking than fidelity and totally locked 60fps. Excellent upgrade over base PS5.

So far I am moist, moist and erect. Everything I wanted in a silent package. Brilliant bit of kit.

Of course some people will not like it or even be able to do it. Pre builds also exist but of course they have worse prices.

PC is not for everyone, that's for sure. But it offers WAY more options.
Offers way more options. I find this talking point interesting bc that's often touted as a negative for the Nintendo faithful, who are usually only interested in playing games. They will often mock multifunctionality in consoles, saying things like, "I don't want it to play movies, music, do my laundry, yadayadayada....I just want it to play games!" But when it comes to PC vs console, suddenly it becomes a positive. :pie_invert:

Nothing wrong with having options, you could just use the default option on PS5 and call it a day.

But I do see your point and I think Sony also realized this so hopefully this will not be the case with the PS6.

Other stuff tested:
RE4 now playing in resolution mode with RT - no drops at all so far. Seems a locked 60fps.
Death Stranding - all the drops I got in quality mode now gone - locked 60fps.
Dead Island 2 - crisper resolution, seems to have better shadows and draw distance, far better frame rate along the seafront town. More stable frame rate (it used to be OK, but with a lot of hitches, these seem much better now)

So far all the annoyances I used to have are gone.

Will be testing GT7 tomorrow.

I was talking about options in GAMES.

Don't like motion blur/dof/ca/other piss filter? You can turn it off (no guarantee on consoles for settings like that)
Don't like 30fps? Play at 60 using lower settings
Don't like 60fps? Play at 120 using lower settings
Game has weak textures? There probably is mod with better textures around
Don't like color saturation? Change it in reshade
Game is too sharp/too smooth? Change it in reshade
Game is washed out (starfield)? Same as above^
Game has no HDR/broken HDR? Auto HDR/RTX HDR or specialK are your friends.
Don't like character models? Change them with mods

etc.

Don’t notice any difference in Dragon Age, maybe patch isn’t out? Don’t see a pro option in gfx yet.
still waiting on my pro to deliver. hopefully soon. this was one of the games i was interested in knowing about. i've seen a few posts on youtube of gameplay, but you can't really tell. so this is interesting to hear. would be nice for the folks that already have the damn thing to make a list of the games they've played and give bullet point/succint impressions. all these influencers just play the game and are like, sweet! like, we can't tell on a youtube video! just give a quick, honest impression ffs. basically, exactly how you just did. Dragon Age: no difference. Boom. moving on. i should probably just start a channel at this point. a channel for the people! just shoot it to me straight! i don't need some fat dork with a lisp going on and on about PSSR and the technical workings of a game. there's a time and place for that. give me the "i'm not some fake gamer middle aged goon or prime soda amped up tween" impressions of what XY and Z is like. shit! this stuff writes itself! it has been decided: i'm starting a channel. Radical_3D will be my first guest.

No graphics modes or settings? What about for people who suffer from motion sickness? I'd be damned if I have to play Skyrim on Switch without any way to turn off motion blur.

This takes all of 1-2 minutes and you never touch them again. I just can’t believe most people are this unmotivated to care about the way their game looks/plays.

I can’t even get the data transfer to work - regardless of WiFi or LAN

Edit: Sony is listening. As soon as I posted it started to work. Connected both consoles together with a cat6 cable, and both consoles to WiFi. Estimated 15 minutes for transfer of ~100GB saves and system data
Quoting for viz - connect the consoles with a cable and both consoles to WiFi. My 100GB save and system transfer finished in 10 minutes

From what I read it just a higher base res before upscalling. Looks a little cleaner but if you turn on fidelity drops it to 30fps so looks like ass to me. Was hoping u get the best of both… Maybe it will come later.

6 feet in front of a 77inch oled tv, can barely see the difference side by side. That said other games look much better.

Can’t Git Gud
This guy. Couldn't even install the drive in correctly lol at 6:20
I don't think he hooked it in

I see 450 EU for DE officially, looks like there are some local deals to get to 399

Agreed though that EU pricing is worse than US

In my country(scandinavia) with a disc drive, the pro is about 1100 dollars retail. I can get the DE for 460 dollars retail now. its a insane price difference. I had the ps4 pro, got a ps5 now but with that kind of price difference im just not buying the pro. I wish the difference was only 100 bucks like in the states
