PS5 Pro reviews

That's obviously not the point of the system but that sharpening filter is a nice bonus actually :pie_roffles:

and when it moves, you don't see a difference.

I really hope that the addition of PSSR for PS6 will lead to an end to this graphics setting madness. We have consoles so developers can decide the best way to present their games, offering six or eight graphics mode is insane. I think Hogwarts has even more.
I’d like to just see a frame rate option. 30 , 40 (if 120hz tv) and 60+ Just optimise the game to get a solid frame rate at that setting

Can I just put my M2 SSD from my regular PS5 into the PS5 Pro? Will it work? Or do I need to reinstall all the games?
I can confirm it works. I did this before I even powered on the Pro for the first time. It made me delete Astro Playroom off the M2 because it comes installed on the main SSD. Other than that, smooth sailing.

Anyone got the stand? It’s kinda wobbly honestly. I screwed a bit with a coin but I don’t want too strip it

No wobble but when I tried it horizontally after vertical it was cooler to the touch. Could have been other factors like time of day and all that because it has been much warmer than normal but it might be something to look into and test further.

From what I read it just a higher base res before upscalling. Looks a little cleaner but if you turn on fidelity drops it to 30fps so looks like ass to me. Was hoping u get the best of both… Maybe it will come later.

6 feet in front of a 77inch oled tv, can barely see the difference side by side. That said other games look much better.
Just got mine. Have to say, pretty impressed with the clarity on the stuff ive played. Could just be placebo. About 2 ft from a 55" lg c2

what? your brain? you cannot return something that it's not even available, troll.

What? Are you fucking thick? I posted that on the 6th of January, the Console was released on the 7th of January which would have been 'tomorrow' when I posted it, it's now the 8th of January because of Timezones, I live in London

I chuckled. For reasons.

My PS5 Pro arrived yesterday, and all downloads are not yet complete.
I play Genshin Impact every day, and the input response has been greatly improved on the PS5 Pro.
Genshin is a native 4K/60 game, so there were some slightly heavy moments on the PS5 OG.
Input lag during crowded battles, faster button response for picking up items, and momentary stuttering after fast travel have been improved.
This game is not yet Pro Enhanced, but I'm happy to be able to operate it comfortably and enjoyably.

Any site have dismantled the professional and analyses the shit out of the circuit boards and chips?

How is the extra 2GB ram making the OS super smooth?

This thing is legit above my 3080. Maybe if I had a 12gb variant, pc would still have a tiny edge but as it stands now, it is faster.
That's impressive. 3080 is about 4070 speed.

btw

What? In pure power perspective it's much below your 3080. It's below Radeon 6800 in raster.

Honestly when I was seeing it side by side at my buddies house I personally could say yeah that looks much better

But now having played with mine at home VERY little so far but on a 32" 4k OLED monitor its like mehhh, is this the pro or the regular PS5.
32 oled monitor lmao

Although I don't think it's quite at the level of a 3080 (when it's not VRAM-starved anyway), I wouldn't use unpatched games as evidence that it's slower than a 6800 in rasterization.

Yeah it's not whole picture for sure. But so far nothing suggest otherwise.

Of course I'm talking about pure raster power, 6800 loses when it comes to final image quality.

I think the PS5 Pro, like the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X, are products that are very focused on brand enthusiasts, which is not my case. I'm going to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 next year, so I'll wait for the PS6 around 2027 - 2028.

High quality analysis barely happens anymore.

You mostly have clickbait reviews that will largely shit on the PS5 because that's generates the most views and many of these online channels are PC oriented.

We'll eventually get proper analysis of the PS5 Pro, but it's probably going to take more than a couple of days.

I really like the PS5 Pro these days, but the biggest real drawbacks I find are rarely mentioned.

I dock it points for the boost mode not hitting the rendering potential in games so far, I dock it points for not having an updated HDMI controller to deliver proper 4:4:4 chrome subsampling. I also dock it points for a lack of integration with PS Link. I dock it slight points for the cheap legs instead of a proper stand despite people complaining about this on ps5 slim. Just seems tone deaf for a premium product.

the PS4 Pro was at most 1/5th of the units sold after it came out. Yea, it's for enthusiasts, obviously. The One X was kind of a one time thing for MS to fix their shit.

NGL if somebody asked me right now if the PS5 Pro was worth it I would say absolutely not. Maybe I'll be convinced but I think this is a tougher sell than the PS4 Pro.

I’m a huge PlayStation fan, and I bought the Pro, but it’s clear to me that this PS5 Pro falls short. I hope it’s just a matter of needing specific optimization to fully show its potential, but at launch, they’re lucky to have Final Fantasy Rebirth and F1, as those are the only games that really justify the console’s price. We went from thinking it was equivalent to a 4070s to barely surpassing a 4050.

I hate comparisons with PCs, but the leap from a 4060 to a 4070 is much more noticeable than what the PS5 Pro achieves, and the price difference between models is similar.

You can really tell that Sony is heavily focused on making profits.

What’s his conclusion though? Its just click baity

It’s not a hard sell if you’re the target market.

Why doesn’t he make a video about how a high end gaming pc is an even harder sell?

Not this again. A high end pc is not a hard sell to its demographic and those wanting it. Just like a ps5 pro isn't a hard sell to those after it.

I personally find a pc that costs 3 times as much as a ps5 pro an easy sell to me. It's called preference and value proposition.

On a 2k pc I can get a 9800x3d and all the trimmings I want within that budget. It will smash the shit out of games for years. I can tweak to have consistent framerates above 60fps.

I don't even understand why I bother as it's like talking to a brick wall.

I don't know why it's crazy to think that a person could think like this....

Ps5 pro....700 pounds...comes without disk drive and stand....same lame cpu...a bump in gpu power but requires patching by a third party who could do poor patches....Sony may not even support the device properly. Other developers may not support it properly and provide no patch or poor patches for legacy games/ future titles. Not enough of userbase to care.

Pc 2 grand....every single game instantly becomes current gen with either souped up settings or performance that you control. All future games can run as you want. User defined tweaking to their flavour. May have stuttering on some titles but even silent hill 2 stutters on console...so what to do?

That's exactly how I laughed, when I saw that I sold my PS5fat from 4 years ago, paid 350€ for the Pro and only gained 10 fps (and hopefully) and a little more sharpness in some cases.
If you are able to show me something more than a gif, to show me that it is a good buy today, I would appreciate it.

Ah yes only 10 fps difference

Mr Rogers Clown GIF

The games I’m playing with Pro patches look better at 60 fps than they did at 30 fps on base PS5
