It's really good. I beat it last night. Lots of games within games cooked into this game. Lots of subtle easter eggs too. And the lore IMO is very deep. If you guys haven't played Wire Lips I'd recommend that one too. Same devs.

But this isn't horror, even on the game description it says adventure rpg. It has some violence like a murder scene but lets not mix this up with the likes of Silent Hill psychological horror.

I can’t take anime seriously. For sure not in horror games. Probably has positive reviews because “anime girl”.
Yeah, it's getting a bit silly. These days it almost feels like every game with anime girls is getting praise regardless of the content, lol.

I glanced at a trailer of this awhile back, and I thought it looked like a solid and well put together game. But it never gave me a horror vibe at all. Let alone a "psychological" one.

I can't handle the art style, it's just a bridge too weeby. Happy for the people who are digging it though and the developers' success.

sold an estimated 800k to 900k+ copies

Developers from Aihasto do not disclose the exact figures, but, according to the estimates of analysts from VGinsights, sales of MiSide reach the mark of 963 thousand copies. The Gamalytic service estimates are slightly more modest - fresh horror could be bought about 795 thousand times. If this is true, then the revenue of the novel was about $ 9.7 million.

It is also interesting to divide by region. About 46% of players are in Russia – MiSide is available for purchase in the domestic segment and took fifth place among the sold games in the region for the week from 10 to 17 December. Followed by China (34.4%) and the United States (3.6%), while the rest of the number of players is divided between other regions.

It was pretty good, you can finish it in one sitting. Recommended if you aren't put off by the anime style.

It's a cult classic IMO. Story is good. The characters either have depth or have likeable quirks and the mystery behind it all has all manner of players across all regions speculating by what the lore, story and what the future content means. It's like Doki Doki Literature Club meeting Stanley Parable.

But if you can't get invested because Anime then yeah the game isn't for everyone.

Lots of secrets beyond the achievements too built into the game world.

For the low price of $15 it's not bad at all.

With almost 40,000 positive Steam reviews, dev behind this winter's biggest horror hit "never expected MiSide to be so popular" and will "carefully consider future plans"

One of the year's biggest breakthrough hits came right at the very end, but it doesn't plan on stopping any time soon.

MiSide is a horror about getting trapped inside of a video game with a virtual waifu who sometimes wants to kill you - a recipe obviously made for viral success. The initially cute and friendly Mita might begin the game innocently enough. All she wants is to do chores and eat lunch with you. But in a Doki Doki Literature Club-style twist, the multiple versions of her won't react well if you, for some reason, want to take a break from the game. And by that I mean she'll chase you with a chainsaw.

In just a few weeks, MiSide managed to court almost 40,000 Steam user reviews, a whopping 98% of which are positive. "Loved this game," one of the many 'Overwhelmingly Positive' reviews reads. "There is a very good blend of cutesy and scary too; too many times I would get too comfy and almost completely forget this is a horror game, and then... BOOM! I would be harshly reminded that I shouldn't get too comfortable while playing this."

Now that it's a certified hit, indie developer Aihasto said "we never expected MiSide to be so popular," in a recent blog post. "We are very grateful to every player who supports us! In addition to continuing to polish the game and produce the planned content, we will also carefully consider future plans, which will cover all aspects of the game, both inside and outside the game. We will share new plans with everyone as soon as they are available!"

Part of those plans include a new photo mode that was just added a few days ago, alongside extra settings, accessibility options, and bug fixes. It sounds like we might even get some new goodies in the weeks and months to come - the future plans covering stuff "outside the game" might also hint at upcoming merch or multi-media projects. I'm sure any potential Mita dolls won't malfunction and start picking up knives, right?

It looks very polished for an indie game made by 2 dudes, and considering its huge success I'm hoping they'll consider doing a console release later this year.

I started it then I saw someone is working on an English dub so I put it down to wait on that. The bit I played was surprisingly good though.
