Avowed launched to “Very Positive” reviews on Steam

Maybe there's an option in the dev tools to generate NPCs using random NPC assets & they forgot to check only female assets. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The NPCs are 100% created with lousy random generator and metahuman. Dead stare from Starfield is also there, along with non-blinking eyes.

Some of you really need to stop giving a shit about games you never had any interest in. Reviews are meant for helping people make purchase decisions not for some dumb dick measuring contest.

People also, get this, like different things. Some of my favorite games aren’t rated that highly.

Agreed. People hated that Thief 2014 game and I thought it was amazing. Except I didn't do anything but a pure stealth run. They game had a setting where if you were seen (even by bosses) it was game over and they built the bosses around the mechanic it was brilliant.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Reading comprehension is hard, but some of you thrive on taking words out of context. I'm not interested in continuing this waste of a good mechanical switches. I've made my point, and to me, made it quite clear.

You've made your point, it's just a half baked point. 🤷‍♂️

These are 2 positive reviews for KCD2 which I saw in a few seconds on the games page.

I do not recall you being this picky in that game's Steam thread.

Not that picking apart steam reviews for their validity is a worthwhile usage of one's time anyway.

But here you are. 🤭

Yeah completely done with these types of low effort NPC's. Especially in bigger budget games.

I was on the fence before and willing to give it a shot but when I saw all the previews and the completely phoned-in NPC animation I was out.

So what you guys are saying is that Avowed is the Starfield of The Outer Worlds-likes?
Nah it's much better than that turd.

The writing\male-female dynamics are still tow quality but at least the combat is much more fun so you can at least appreciate the gameplay.

"Framerates don't really matter guys, so just ignore them." WTF is this mental illness? And they dare call themselves "PC Gamer"?

Not even sure what PCGamer is getting at with that comment. The game is running really well for UE5 with nanite + Lumen. One of the best optimized one in fact. Runs good on console, has 40 fps mode with the graphic fidelity if you have VRR. 60 fps mode performance. We've seen WAY worse UE5 game performances.

It's a good game. I think a lot of the hate is in bad faith, though the art director talking shit deservedly put a target on this game. I find the Skyrim comparisons to be the most ridiculous. Maybe the game was initially greenlit as a Skyrim killer, but that was clearly changed once MS acquired Bethesda. This game is much closer to a Bioware game than a Bethesda game, actually. I'm 41 hours into the game and having a great time. The girl bosses early in the game are a bit much, but I'm enjoying the companions. I wanna romance Giatta, though. They should add a romance patch and a theft system (most of the items are already in place). I think those 2 things would really help.

This the current reviews?
Of course not.

Point is, initial reception, especially since 5 days of expensive premium that creates 'can't be that I've played so-so game for that money' kinda response is a bad indicator. After initial hype and all sorts of 'but it's good' Starfield is sitting at mixed. True reception will be judged in a week. It is also not 81 but 78.75% according to steamdb and will slide down more eventually.

People who spent 90 bucks on a game gaslight themselves and each other that it was definitely worth it.

That certainly wasn't the case for Civilization 7. Game was getting slammed with mixed reviews even by those spending the extra cash.

This is just sad, INTERACTIVITY should be the FIRST priority in a western RPG, I mean hell Two Worlds had better interactivity than this...TWO FUCKING WORLDS!!!

Come on this is Obsidian, unacceptable

Oh Come On Jim Carrey GIF

He was obviously using hyperbole with the "90 hour AAA games" then again, if someone is investing that kind of time into your game, then it's doing something to keep their attention.

However, we are seeing the side-effects to these "AAA-like" games, and the cuts being made bringing them all the way back into the PS2 era of interactivity and gameplay with just a high-res coat of paint.

This is why they are starting to feel like they're lacking "soul" in current year. No passion, not like developers used to have.

I have only ever seen the character creator before release, and am enjoying my time with the game. Not the best ever but fun. The character modes are astoundingly lackluster.

It’s not a bad game by any means. The game looks pretty damn good. I’m not worried about the colorful visuals, it’s a fantasy game with weird looking characters. I’ve been enjoying it. I can see why some may not be happy if they were expecting dark fantasy from the first trailer. The gameplay is good especially in first person for this type of game and moves along briskly. I don’t know if it would ever stand out as a memorable game but there is something intriguing about it where I want to go back and explore. As far as the story goes no fucks are given so I couldn’t tell you how that goes either good or bad.
