It was just a kinda joking comment.lol sorry man im not in the loop like you are, I know theyre good cards, what i meant is are they as future proof as a 4080, i shouldve clarified
A randome 4Chan post? we can do better with all due respect
i know friend im just messing, im still sitting here with a 2070, only recently I started to have to lower settings (cyberpunk, elden ring, some rtx games gave me trouble). You are right about games not being all about lighting, im a bit older now and I don't really care much about 4k, ultra settings, full rtx etc, 1080p still looks good to me. But it would still be nice to play games at their full potential, A 4080s costs $1650 here, 300 or so more than a 4070ti-super, a lot of money in the current climate. I can only imagine how much the newer cards will cost, hopefully theyll be some discounts next year, because over the Christmas period there were none surprisingly. It was just a kinda joking comment.
Though, for sure, an RTX 4080/7900xtx are still great graphics cards. And you won't need to upgrade either of them until the 2030s unless games suddenly become fully path traced or they start going crazy with physics (where are the physics in games?).
I think we're reached the limits. To create a huge game, properly optimized, that runs at 30fps on a 4080/4090 costs over a hundred million dollars USD and I don't think that's the direction game dev should be going.
I miss the days when things weren't about trying to render huge worlds with hundreds of NPCs and 50 million polygons in the scene with the most realistic lighting.
Ray tracing is here to stay. Devs don't want to waste 1000s of hours baking lighting data on static environments. But there's more to a good game than pretty lighting. Hellblade 2 barely passes as a game.
As for the actual topic at hand, RTX 5080 and 5090 will likely be overpriced. But, if possible, I'd like to sell my RTX 4080 and get an RTX 5080, just because.
A card for that price would flop, even if they had a monopoly on the market
I think a large chunk of people who bought the 4090 would buy the 5090 at that price. It won't be that expensive, well, at least not the MSRP.
100%It's going to sell out no matter what they price it at
Hey.. ps5 pro has MORE than 16gb of RAM in it! It’s a bargain now!The same people were here to judge the PS5 Pro price. Claiming its way to high but will spend this amount of money on a single GPU.
This is why the switch 2 is not going to be any sort of powerhouse with Nintendo teaming up with nvidia again. Nvidia is too expensive
Why do we get all these reports with "leaked" prices every year when literally know one knows the price except Jensen and he decides the final price RIGHT before the presentation? Not even the board partners know the price at this point.
edit: I guess sites do it for the clicks, but still...
Yes, especially if AMD is trying to compete in the same performance tier.Is that actually true he decides just before without the board knowing?
DoubleThe same people were here to judge the PS5 Pro price. Claiming its way to high but will spend this amount of money on a single GPU.
And that's why it is expensive, because they know they can. It's going to sell out no matter what they price it at
Yup. 5090 will certainly sell very well. It's going to sell out no matter what they price it at
Lol yeah i'm sure devs are gonna start developing games with a 5090in mind instead of a shitty console as base version anytime soon...
doubtful at least.is it dumb to expect that 5070Ti is gonna cost the same as 4070Ti Super today?
If 5090 is 20-30% faster from current BiS 4090 then it will fly off the shelves even at street price of 3k usd/euro.
I think if its a decent power bump over the 4090 even if the 5090 was priced at $3000 US there are plenty of people out there willing to buy itA card for that price would flop, even if they had a monopoly on the market

I think even if its an artificial shortage manufactured by NVidia all we would hear is about how they are sold out everywhere trying to create FOMO on their partYes, people would buy it, but not that many people.

Has anyone seen comparisons of sales or Steam owner data of the say GTX 1070 1080 and 1080ti compared to say the 3070 etc or 4070/80 etc?
Or even the RTX series
I'm on a GTX 1080 still, I'm wondering how many of the 4000 series cards sold compared to other gens, the prices are just insane to me but feel I'm only one of a few resisting or are we seeing less mid-top tier graphic cards in peoples hand?
