Yeah but if you had choose your favorite vr game?
it's really not close. alyx is like 3 generations ahead of astrobot. astrobot was a fun proof of concept for vr the way mario 64 was a proof for 3d platforming. alyx is this preview of a future that other developers maybe won't ever catch up to.

HL 3 to display the capability of upcoming RTX 5090? Will never happen. Half life alyx for ps5 and psvr2 will still make me happy.

And you should be very thankful for that... I've had this guy spoil bosses in several games just because youtube keeps recommending me his videos.

YT showed me a thumbnail of the final cutscene of Metaphor ReFantazio because I was listening to its OST on YT. Fucking shit website 😂

So let's assume it happens. What could be the big technological advancement? Maybe something related to the NPCs, like AI that can react to every little action dynamically. Would be my guess. It kinda fits into the current time.
But i don't believe it until i see Gabe himself reveal the game.

It’s called VR. If this game is real, it’ll likely be a hybrid flat and VR game that runs just as well on both. That’ll be where the innovation comes. Pushing what VR is capable of, beyond Alyx.

They have a new VR headset to sell.

I have a feelings for these things.
Like then DNF 2001 build leaked, I woke up hour early thinking about it AND IT WAS RIGHT THERE.
with this? nope. Valve don't need no tga to announce anything

hope it's not a vr only game.
Alyx was soooo limited, slow and just bounded by having to cater to physical abilities of everyone playing.
That and combat was very lanient.
And I just don't want to play sweaty vr ever again. I don't like wearing vr, my eyes are not good enough and it's a mess

it won't be pushed beyond alyx.
vr is a gimmick. Why would I want to play a game limited to my room size, my speed movement and my body? ... and with a stupid headset on my head that is always a problem to see clearly through.
Best way to play Alyx for me was still on oculus cv1. no other headset after that gave me oled, very light headset with good audio. CV1 was the best. The only good pcvr headset for me... unacceptable with satelites, cameras, poor tracking etc. Just talking about headset alone quality and comfort.

VR controls are not a gimmick as their point is immersion and you are not limited at your room size movement speed and body as walking with the stick is an option.

I'm not going to watch the stupid game awards live so I'll be counting on checking GAF later for reactions either euphoric or despondent about HL3 announcement

I know all of this. I used to love vr and had every major headset.
Finished Alyx 3 times.
But it still ends up being a gimmick sitting on a shelf. Every time. Games are obviously simplified

Do you really call doing all the movements and buttons presses to reload, move your arms, head, legs, etc "simplified" vs only pressing buttons and moving sticks and/or mouse???
These are my fav parts of vr but are inessential in the grand scheme of things like whole gameplay, pacing, scale of the game etc.
The game is not about reloading weapons. That's what every vr game is about.

The game is or should be about other stuff. Dragons Dogma 2 is not worse than blade and sworcery because you press RT to swing a sword vs really swinging your arms.
It's in fact the opposite. You don't focus on micros tasks but on other elements.
And look at forspoken. Ain't no way you are doing that in vr.

Game is ALSO about reloading weapons and all those "gimmicks". DD2 is worse in immersion than B&S and that is the main point of VR games.

Valve is on the same level as Rockstar, who are notorious for announcing things on their own terms. They won't do it at TGAs if it even exists.

Nope. Not only. That's where I would hope the innovation comes in. We need to start seeing more games that play as well in flatland as they do in VR.

As I say above, the main thing would be creating a game that plays as well flat as it does in VR. There's so much more that can be done with levels of interactivity, and with how the gameplay functions.

Alyx is a good game, but it suffers from trying to be too kind to people who don't have good VR legs. It ends up being slow and quite basic. VR needs to move on from that.

Design a game to work both on a screen and in a VR headset, and you can stop worrying about catering to VR newbies.

Half Life 2 is VR is fucking amazing. And that's largely because it's a fabulous game that just so happens to be in VR. That's where Valve should go with HL3.

High chances of Valve Deckard tonight. Dunno still for HL 3 although, announcing it along side their new headset is a megaton event.

You're underestimating The Game Awards and its pretty funny. The last TGA got more live views than the fucking GTA6 trailer. Lol.

And trust me, Half Life 3 is not coming close to the GTA6 hype/views.

Elden Ring, Uncharted 2, and Xbox Series X are the biggest annuncements I'd say.
I think your talking shit. It seems viewership has dropped by 117 million this year.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
I don’t think it is getting announced. Mostly because i don’t think it isn’t getting made, and also the announcement is bigger than TGA
