It's a shame that devs had to reveal they are white hating trash. Would've tried the game otherwise. Now fuck them. It's OK for them to be racist but not for others to be racist towards them huh.

History major. And also a Wildlife Biology grad. That's your video game community manager. Looking at her jobs experience, she also changes jobs every 6-12 months while doing Twitch content creator stuff over 10 years while working side gigs as bartender or other low end jobs.
(Edit: sounds like she didnt graduate with a wildlife degree. But minored in it. Started off in it and then changed to history to graduate. No doubt clouldnt hack it in a wildlife biology program so switched to an artsy program.

I see. Usually people use Alum to refer to their school, not major. Normally you would say History grad or BA in History or something.

It's kind of insane that Compulsion Game is making a game with Sweet baby Inc and has such a woke / toxic Community manager etc. when you think about what We Happy Few was.
The intro to the story in We Happy Few in particular was really great, showing how toxic positivity, censorship and echo chamber can be dangerous and crazy. And now they're right into what they were painting in that game. Crazy.

Even if the team and staff weren't toxic, this just looked unappealing to me from minute one. The jittery animation style trying to be like a stop motion thing...no thanks. I also just have an irrational dislike of the whole swamp aesthetic. I had my fill of swamps when I lived in Florida.

Honestly the game looked interesting initially minus the quips which every game seems to put in lately. Oh and somewhat nauseating cutscenes jitters looked off. But the community manager BS put me completely off the game.
I might catch it in GamePass at some point if it actually has positive reviews from some of the YouTubers I follow.
I will grab a month (probably 3 months pack on big discount,
) or whatnot to try another game or two down the line anyway.Who are they making this game for and what is the target audience? The way money is burnt in gaming industry is crazy. This so called "modern audience" has proven to be non existent or not big enough to make games like these profitable. Surely you have to ask yourself when making a game who the target audience is. Problem is Microsoft is so woke as a company (as are many publishers these days) they are ok with burning their own money. Only problem is they then end up laying off devs when games like these fail. Absolute idiots, all of them.

The "animating on the twos" shit never looks good to me. The game itself has a lot going on though. Hard to judge, but I hope the platforming is challenging and that the game doesn't play itself too much.

The good thing is that the animation on twos can reportedly be turned off for the gameplay, but it's always on for cutscenes.

i don't want to be the one to defend the game because it's not for me, but production wise it looks good, it has some personality, for people that like casual action/adventure games this seems pretty interesting
I shat on Microsoft for years because of the way they've been producing games but for once it looks like they managed to bring something valuable out of a studio that was unremarkable, not saying it's going to be an incredible game (because it won't) but it seems well made at least, for Microsoft that's a start

I think it looks better than The Gunk and Kena. I still don't think it will sell. Do you think this will surpass Kena's concurrent highest player count on Steam when it releases? That number is 2,643 and that was after it had been Epic exclusive for some time. This game is also not shipping on PS4/PS5. It's doomed.

You've seen their studio. This game is centered more around what women prefer. Female main searching for her mama(where the father at?). Emotional backstories of hurt for the enemies. Given the setting and who is making it I'm sure it's going to be full of talk about the tragedies that occurred during slavery. Hopefully for them they find the female gamer audience they're looking for.

It wouldn't make its money back. I'm sure Microsoft threw a bunch of cash their way. Game Pass is the best thing the studio has going for it.
