Star Wars Outlaws |OT| Robbin' Hutts

ubis pc launcher is so bad it literally pops up a outlaws ad to buy the game every time I exit the game. :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:
What's bad about it? This is the first time I've used it, and it seems smooth and unobtrusive? What should I be looking out for? I like the seamless cloud saves, switching between PC and Rog Ally...

Oh okay, seems like that would be the minorest of minor inconveniences and not worthy of a ‘so bad’ comment… Was assuming there were some technical issues or something. I like it so far…

And the game is great. Kay is absolutely not unlikeable (or ugly) - that other thread is beyond stupid.

I'm not a big Star Wars fan, but I watched the first three movies as a kid, so I figured I would give open world Star Wars a try.

There is something about Nix that really works for me. He has a similar vibe as Stitch from Lilo and Stitch, but the way he is completely loyal to her while regularly pestering her just pulls me in.

Played more and still having fun.

Curious about the reputation system. I tanked my rep with one of the factions because I got caught and blasted my way back out.

How easy is it to get rep back up? Can I max all factions? Does it matter if I ass blast them all?

I'll buy it sooner than later, everything I've read in this thread connects with some of the short play through sessions I've watched.

Good stuff. I did like Division 1/2 as well, this group of devs are pretty talented. Its not just "Ubisoft"

moved the game to my nvme and it definitely benefits from it, take off/landing and hard loads use up to 1.2 GB/s of data transfer, and even toshara feels a bit better to speed around on by a few digits of fps.

I'm super fucking lucky at sabbac, i haven't lost a single round yet and i always do a sabbacc in the first turn basically, the other turns are just passes and using the malus for other players :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Shit seems broken:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Add a few more rules and variations and they could release this thing on mobile for people who like minigames.

Really enjoying the game. Especially for a Ubisoft title it can’t be stressed enough how organic the exploration feels. Just walking around and soaking everything in is fun on its own. So much attention to detail

As an unabashed lover of Assassin's Creed games since 2 - "I am Ezio Auditore da Firenze!" (probably my favorite moment on PS3) it's kind of what Ubisoft has always done. They create a world, a setting, and allow the player to just exist there while pursuing missions at their own pace.

I personally really like Ubisoft games because of this.

Im liking the game but the texture issue is bad on my 12GB 4070ti. I have to set object detail to 100 out of 400 otherwise the textures just go to shit. Rhis seems too low for such a good card.

That's more like the beauty of open worlds as a genre, a world to explore at your own pace, you decide when you want some story, some exploration or some combat.

Same. Once you realize/get over the fact that it’s really not designed to be a 3rd person shooter with a giant arsenal it really hits the vibe. Yes it has some mechanical problems with the stealth but the rest is basically exactly what I wanted. No Jedi, no Sith or force powers — just a regular ol’ smuggler trying to make their way in the galaxy.

It’s also the first SW game that actually stays in line with the movies — you’re not supposed to be murdering dozens of stormtroopers/cartel enforcers in every mission. You sneak around, take few down quietly, grab your objective and GTFO.

Needs a quick save system real bad though

Tatooine is full of interesting spots/vistas, even though it's only 6km across east/west

Those places where you can sit down and watch the time of day change would make for some cool interactive animated wallpapers

The mission in the mos algo mines seems bugged though, can't seem to finish it.

opposite for me, my opponents keep getting prime/sylop sabbac, especially the high roller tables seem more rigged.

Hellishly long post incoming, but TLDR: I quite like this game.

I had been very interested and excited for this game since day one, with the notion of playing as an outlaw/thief in the Star Wars universe sounding really enticing, even for someone like me who isn’t all that into the franchise that much outside of a few bits and pieces. So when impressions started coming out, and people were hurling negativity towards Outlaws, I grew a little disheartened, but maintained the notion that no matter what, I was going to try it out for myself. I held firm on that stance once official reviews were released as well.

I can now happily report that, after about 3 hours in, I’m having an absolute blast with this game. Like I stated above, I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, but the world, the atmosphere, the tone, and the music all just feel so authentically and passionately set in that universe. The game just has a level of… Slickness about it. Like, even the title screen is unreasonably stylish and just plain cool to me. I love Kay and Nix so far, and the gameplay, while limited thus far due to me having just started and gotten off the first planet, is really fun and responsive, and I can feel there being a lot of cool depth and potential for unique situations there as I go on.

I’m not trying to white knight for Outlaws whatsoever, as if I genuinely didn’t enjoy what I was experiencing, it would’ve been a quick and unfortunate uninstall. However, it’s one of those games for me where I honestly can’t wait to get off from work tomorrow and play more of it, and I personally haven’t had that sensation in quite a while. Visually, the game is stunning as well, and truly takes advantage of all that RT goodness; it looks and feels like a current gen game in my eyes.

All that to say: I’m so glad that I decided early only how I wasn’t going to let the impressions and reviews of others keep me from an experience that I’d been looking forward to. If I had, I would’ve missed out on what is, so far, a genuinely fun game.

Just got through the first ~2 hours, and you know what, quite interested to keep going as it’s been pretty interesting. I like the lock picking mechanic, the stealth makes sense, and the world is pretty rich and atmospheric. Kept an open mind here and I digging it.

constant theme regarding this game (self included). this'd appear to (finally) be a star wars game for people who mostly enjoyed the original trilogy, & then bailed. people who liked the original, juvenile, pure pulp version of star wars, which the game's turned out to be surprisingly true to...

Calling the original trilogy “juvenile” is a bit harsh lol come on

Empire is one of the darkest “kids” films of all time to me. Still is. It was the most difficult one to watch when I was a kid. I always ran out of the room when I knew Chewie was going to get really upset about where Han was (Hoth) and when he’s in Vaders clutches in Bespin. I hated it. Super upsetting.

Then I turn 12 and it becomes my favorite and one of the best movies I’ve ever seen 😂

It definitely carries the tone of those original movies (from what I remember at least), which is nothing but a good thing. The game is just fun and packed with personality.

This game got a lot of unwarranted hate but it did need to be looked at through skepticism due to Ubisoft track record.

That said it’s a great game on ps5. Solid 8-8.5/10 for me thus far.

Dudes make sure you go after the scoundrel set of gear. The holster alone gives a severe boost to the ion stun gun recharge speed

Additional my vids on how to play 🤣😎

Bros... how am I going to hold off on getting this until I finish a few other games. Hell, GameStop is offering 75% bonus trade credit towards it right now.

I must hold strong. Maybe I can make it until Black Friday.
