Star Wars Outlaws |OT| Robbin' Hutts

This is one of the best looking games on PC if you're pushing all the RTX features. Just jaw dropping. However there are some serious issues with frame pacing and frame rate in outdoor sections. Literally had it go from 60-70fps down to less than 20 by just turn the camera.

I finished the game this morning.

7/10 for me. I enjoyed my time with it. I enjoyed the game for what it was and didn't read into the reviews or noise.

The best vent/ladder/tunnel simulator of 2024. lol

Alright, got it. Played for 3 hours. So far, its okay, visually looks nice, no doubt, but not without issues. The blur around the edges is annoying af and just like DF said, if you turn the setting that deals with all that stuff to low, it makes everything wobbly when you move. Very annoying. Also the low texture bug/loading after playing more than 2-3 hours is another annoying aspect. Everything else is just ok, nothing really good or great despite what the Disney bots on gaf say. Will continue to play it tho.

I still keep the lens effects on low even if not optimal, anything higher than medium and the game become a blurry mess that look worse than 1080p...

Ure not annoyed by the wobbly textures when moving? It seemed very distracting to me if I put that setting on low. Also who was the idiot who came up with black bars because "muh cinematic feeling". Going fill screen just zooms in and cuts half the vision lmao. Not to mention it runs worse somehow. Theres like only a very small minority who have a 21:9 monitor.

I notice way more the blur caused by the lens effect.

Yeah the 21:9 is some bullshit, it looks super zoomed even if you adjust the fov.

The game is full choke of questionable design choices.

Two questions

How do you switch between the blaster and pistol?

With blaster in hand, can you zoom in further? There's a scope but......

Despite my better judgement I've bought standart edition on PS5...

And it's not bad? Granted, it's not a masterpiece and the first two hours are a slog (introdduction in general is very weak), but somehow everything came together after 5 hours and I really enjoying both the game and even the visuals in quality mode.

To my huge surprise. Stealth is shit though, but it's bearable.

Keep pressing triangle and when the menu open, just press triangle until you get the modules you want.

If you mean changing modules, then you have to into the your ship in the place where you upgrade the blaster.

Zoom is pressing l3 i think, only used once.

Man I didn't expect this but this game is growing on me. The first few hours gave me a really bad impression for some reason but after 20 hours I am hooked. The game is great if you accept certain limitations and it gets better when you start unlocking skills and have more freedom.

The locations so far ooze SW, it's very well made.

What isn't well made, or great to look at is the aliasing and other ugly shit on riversbeds in the big open fields. It's distracting for sure.

Oh brother, this is the type of shit I hate.

I was having fun eliminating these goons silently and then this happens. And this is why I hate we can't save manually. Let us at least have shorter intervals for autosaves, or well, it seems autosaves don't even happen in these (forced) stealth bits.

At least anyone I knocked out was still knocked out after I died from falling through the map.

Pressing triangle switches between blaster and ion. Holding triangle will load up the charge/blast shot (once you get it during the story)

The only weapons with scopes are the couple sniper rifles youll find on scout troopers. No zoom on pistols, but when you pick up certain blaster rifles like the A-3000 the over the shoulder perspective will zoom in a bit more when aiming.

Agreed. No quicksave has been a plague to PC gaming for decades.

Aren't there mods for PC? Personally I'm on Xbox.

I don't mind a challenge, but what Ubi did here with these forced stealth areas and then dropping you back at the start if you get caught is just an annoyance, not fun.

The blaster isn't part of my equipment yet, this was a blaster dropped by a baddie. That's probably why Kay dropped the blaster when I press Y. It's still early for me in the game. :)

And dont worry too much about the stealth areas. With the right skill upgrades and loadout they do become much easier and breezier and dare i say...enjoyable.

That's good because I hate how I keep having to do it over again if I get caught or die. We really should be able to save or let autosaves happen during these bits at all.

It seems I didn't even die from falling through the map, I just respawned back to safety and the baddies were gone. Wish it would just do the same thing if you die too. It's not a huge issue to be dropped back at the starting location of the stealth parts, but at least keep the baddies I slugged down.

High rep with the Crimson Dawn gets you good stealth gear. Also, even rep that's in Good status means you can still walk around territories without consequence (except Imperials), so try to do that as early as possible so it makes upcoming contracts much easier.

Like let's say the Pykes want you to steal something from a Crimson Dawn lieutenant who is located in their warehouse in Mirogana. If you're cool with the Dawn, you can just march right in there, locate the target and then send Nix right over to take their shit and run it back over to you. You'll barely need to move. Stuff like that will take you a minute or less and becomes a quick way to score credits for that blaster upgrade you need etc. .

That's very good. I'm actually on good terms with the Crimson Dawn right now. At the moment I'm doing a side quest to sabotage something but I'll get back to that after this.

Yeah I think the first planet was a bit too heavy handed with the stealth sections especially the base since you’re just starting out and barely have any skills or equipment… but once you get past that hump things go a lot smoother and it’s a lot less aggravating.

This game really tickling my lizard brain with the sidequests, intel, expert abilites to grind for, Sabacc, Sabacc cards to find, treasures/weapon upgrades to find etc. etc. Only on my second planet at 19 hours in. Without typical leveling up the side stuff feels you're exploring to upgrade your gear so it keeps pushing you to clear the map before you move forward.

This game has a lot of flaws, but it's so fun to play so it doesn't bother me. Last game to get me hooked like this was Wanted: Dead. Another flawed game that is better than the sum of it's parts.

I'm in that part for the blaster upgrade but it seems the part is in a area I am not allowed to enter and fucking hell do these guys spot me way too easily, while other times the AI is dumb as hell.

Restricted areas often have other ways of entering them, only very rarely is there only one guarded entrance, in those cases you have to use nix for a distraction, or cause a distraction somewhere else with an explosive/smoke barrel.

Challenge is not the problem, bugs, glitches and stealth/ia being unreliable is the problem.

Hard to not get mad when the game does the 3 punch combo instead of the stealth takedown because the game decide to not take the input even with the prompt on screen.

Immediate fail state or punishment for failing stealth should only exist if mechanics are reliable and always work as intended not when they are random.

How can Frontiers of Pandora look crispier than Outlaws at 4K Ultra whilst having better textures and denser environments?

Outlaws can look very blurry and textures aren't really that great.

Finished it. The final mission did have some tough stealth sections, but the finale was great. All those years playing X-Wing and Rogue Squadron paid off because taking out a Star Destroyer is easy now.

I really want a sequel with this crew. It was really Mass Effect 2 in Star Wars. Ank reminded me of a pyromaniac Sophia from the Golden Girls.

Only 460/1000.

I am disappoint.

I only just got out the first hub. Got to be honest it was a bit boring up until then but since getting out the gates I'm really liking it.

Damn son! That's my OCD I guess.

As soon as I pick up a new buddy I complete all of their challenges before moving on :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Same here but I’m giving it a break today. Will likely hit well 50 hours or more, already into the 40’s but honestly it’s that that some of those treasure locations are a bitch to find on your own.

I still can’t find this one yellow chest in space around Kajimi at ‘Pirate’s Rest’ or something like that…I am starting to wonder if I already got it and it didn’t register on the map, or is simply not popping up on the pings…I have spent an unhealthy amount of time looking for that thing 💀

I gave up on most of the treasure intel unless its a blaster part or a contract takes me near its location. Im fucking swimming in credits and materials at the moment.

(But man they disappear quick once you splurge on a couple ship upgrades)

The treasure boxes in space are one of the main sources for the Trailblazer skins (the entirely yellow crates you can’t blow open). The ones on the ground that don’t have a listed upgrade also contain all of the different engine colors (as well as other cosmetics including more Trailblazer cosmetics) but there’s only 3 engine colors that I have found so far…

i eventually discovered that the more use i made of nix, the smoother the game began to go for me...

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Finishing up Visions of Mana, time to pop this in next.

Probably gonna avoid as much of the open world bloat as possible cause I don't want to spend a lot of days with Space Marine 2 also coming soon.
