Star Wars Outlaws |OT| Robbin' Hutts

It would have to be the remake with all the women though. It is a bit weird how every strong character in this is a woman and all the relationships spoken of are gay couples (and Kay flirts with the odd woman too). Fine - tell a story - but it does feel like a deliberate effort to make men feel uncomfortable. It doesn’t work of course - because most men are fine with women and gay couples - but it is a distraction taking you out of the story, when the writer’s underlying intentions are so clear. Lucas may have told it badly at times - but at least he was just telling a story.
yeah, they definitely went overboard. there's a distinct difference between organic story-telling & this kind of deliberate 'plug-in' type manipulation for the sake of 'inclusivity', & i'm not sure that, no matter how much 'better' they get at it, it'll ever come off as being genuinely spontaneous...

like yourself, it hasn't prevented me from enjoying the game, but, as inauthentic as it feels, i'm really not seeing it contributing anything, either. an empty exercise in virtue signalling that, as always, fundamentally accomplishes nothing...

it's dumb fun, & i'm enjoying it. if you've ever thought you'd like to play an open-world game set in the original trilogy star wars universe? it fits the bill, imo...

otoh - recommending just about any game nowadays at full price is something i'm not really sure i'm ready to do. so I'll leave it at that...

This has some really stupid bugs in it. The stuck in combat bug, now I encountered "stuck during loading after cutscene" bug. Taskmgr needed to shut the game down. Surprisingly technically busted game by Massive standards (all previous games I played by them were fine).

Yeah this is entering janky territory for me now. Wtf is with the schizo shoulder swapping in corridor/tight spaces??

Also, wtf at the two side quests that say the treasure is located south west, when its clearly south east. Basics man. Sloppy. I was fucking stumped for ages.

Should I be buying anything with my cash? I have 10k credits, but not really sure there's anything to buy. I'm still only on kijimi just finishing the anka mission.

The Cockatrice

I'm retarded?
Not sure how many hours in, prolly 20'ish, but so far I'd give it a 7 at best which might change only based on how the story ends/comes together.

Atmosphere-wise, I'll give it credit, its very star war'ish if thats a word, I really like the whole mood of the game and exploring it, however it's a bit diminished by how messy the engine is visually. The blur and lack of color depth is annoying tho i fixed them a bit with reshade. Theres a ton of shimmering in a lot of interior places which is fixed by using RayReconstruction, however if you use RR, vegetation and hair and other similar stuff are incredibly blurry and leave trails when moving, so I had to disable it, not to mention the fact that it cuts 50FPS in certain places without any significant visual benefit. Animations are mid af, the tiny guy is prolly where most of the animation budget went. Also the fact that I have to restart every 2hour or so due to the texture bug, that still hasnt been fixed is fucking lol.

Gameplay-wise, stealth is pretty fucking bad mechanically, but I am a stealth fan so I dont have any issues with it, I am playing on the hardest difficulty and Im ok with it. Shooting is ok, nothing really good nor bad. Like I said, I enjoy the exploration so far, finding stuff is rewarding and not extremely bloated and gearing up is ok. Ship gameplay is also kinda basic af, just pew pew and loot and thats it. WOuld've been nice to find some cool locations in space outside of the generic space stations which are all sameish, hangar, market and cantina at the end. Nothing mysterious or messed up to find, it's the most safe game I've ever played and we have to thank Disney for making this shit kids friendly. I was impressed with the wanted system with imperials, it seems to be well thought, theres severe patrols/ships flying around, they put baricades and whatnot everywhere once you get a wanted level. Far better than GTA/Cyberpunk. The reputation system is dogshit and theres absolutely no risk to it as you can safely get in good graces with everyone. Generally all games with reputation system have a bad reputation system implemented so I guess Im not surprised. Ideally it should've been one or the other, and with no way to get back in good graces with anyone once you drop to a certain point, nor should you be allowed to farm rep. It should've been quests/choices only.

Audio wise its great, fantastic soundtrack as expected from a star wars game, sounds effects all are great as well, especially love the quality of the blasters. Voice acting is ok.

Story so far is just mid, it doesnt seem to go anywhere, gather ur crew, do heist, nothing that we havent seen a million times in cinema. Side quests are unremarkable af.

Finally done. My final score is Star Wars is Female 6/10. Outside of the atmosphere, everything was 5/10 at best. An obvious cameo couldnt save this heap no matter how much it tried. I dont think I've ever once said while playing it, "wow this is nice, this is fine, this is fun" or anything similar at all. Im glad Ubisoft is loosing tons of money over this feminist crap filled with 80% female character's npc's and the only villains are 2 white males. Lmao. 6 is prolly too much considering, but whatever.

I uninstalled this piece of crap tonight, it's one of the worst games I've ever played, the stealth sections have been patched but they still make you want to chop your fingers off.

The checkpoints are all broken - sometimes it makes you replay the same bit winding back ten minutes - other times if you die it actually puts you further ahead. Really janky game - trying to enjoy it and parts are definitely fun. The story is pitiful - so much virtue signalling - even down to the fucking grim looking slop that the aliens serve up to Kay and her going ‘hmmm delicious - you don’t get that where I’m from!’

You can spit it out, call it foreign muck and let the rat eat it love!

I long for Luke looking scathingly round Yoda’s hovel and turning his nose up at his nasty food.

Just started this and the games graphics seems all over the place. Sometimes the game looks great but than you’ll be in a section where the game doesn’t look as good. Just inconsistent graphics.

Can someone explain this super slow ass camera? The right stick that moves the camera is so slow. I looked in the settings for camera sensitivity and it did nothing. :/

Use Nix. Try to get good gear. Upgrade your skills.
The stealth is very easy.

Blasting off is amazing, then the conversations with Temmin look like a PS2 game, for example.

Finally found some decent settings. I’m playing through gfn and had everything maxed out but this was running like shit. Like 20FPS in some areas. I put DLSS on quality, took off frame generation, ray tracing to medium and dropped the res to 1440p. I’m now getting 60-70 FPS. 4K is still about 50-60. The game is a lot more enjoyable now.

okay, i'm confused. why was the bonus jabba mission made such a big deal out of, making it seem like it'd be your only chance to hang out with him, when that wasn't true at all?...

& done...

really enjoyed the game. felt very much grounded in the world of the original trilogy, the story worked quite well, & both nix & nd-5 are great creations. i'm not sure what people were expecting, but the game, for me, basically delivered in just about every way i was hoping it would...

but i do have to mention the couple of options that allowed me to enjoy the game as much as i did (& without which i may never've even continued playing after a while): the first thing being that the awful lockpick/slicing mechanics can both be completely eliminated via the accessibility menu, & the second thing being that the space travel related combat can be almost completely passed on once you've gone to each planet once (which allows you to simply use the fast travel menu from then on). so thanks, massive, for allowing a wimp like myself to play the game in the way i chose to. appreciate it...

I did a quick search thinking Ubi would cash in on Nix's cuteness but all I found was this questionable site with a rather sad looking cheap product 😄

I have 56 hours in this (according to save) and am two missions from ending.
It is the best Massive game since World in Conflict and my favourite AAA Ubisoft game since Watch Dogs 1.
It has flaws (mostly bugs and some poor cutscenes with weird looking Kay).
But god dammit it is a fun stealth action shooter set in my favourite SW era with pretty amazing production values. As a kid playing Jedi Knight 1997 I dreamed of SW games looking like this one day.

Damn you went HAM! I haven't been to some of these areas yet.

Massive has done an amazing job on this game and I'm now much more hype for The Division 3 after seeing this updated Snowdrop engine up close. This feels like the Star Wars game I wish we had as kids, so I do get that feeling as well. I got that feeling from Spiderman and Hogwarts Legacy too (lucky ass kidz) lol

nah, nah fuck that shit, TAKE ME BACK TO 1997!!!!!

Finished.
Endgame was pretty good. Overall yeah I am glad I got the month of Ubiplus for this. Completionist playthrough, 60 hours, just in time before the month runs out. Biggest issue were the annoying bugs. I enjoyed the gameplay, atmosphere, story was "star wars good enough". Better than sequel trilogy by a mile.

Kay looks good both in CGI prerendered cutscenes (done by Digic) and in the flashback from when she was younger. Something went wrong with the creation of the adult character model.

I don't think it's questionable, it seems to be run by Massive directly, also it's the exact same plush they gave their developers for the release of the game; that's also probably why it looks "a little cheap", since they had to make probably thousands of them to give away for free.

Edit: looked into it a bit more and it seems the "reviews" on the site are pictures take from random people and not real, and the domain name registrar seems to be some weird location in iceland.
Probably even more questionable than initially thought John Marston John Marston ; best case scenario they are making even cheaper knockoffs, but it's probably just scam city.

Was just able to buy a code for this game on PC for $15. As a Star Wars fan and someone that pretty regularly enjoys 7/10 esque games, hopefully I don't feel like I wasted my cash.

Excited to give this a shot after I finish FFXVI though!

Definitely going to jump back in on November 21 when that repair roadmap is complete with the DLC release

To be fair this fuck up is totally on Ubi. Looking at their stock prices I'm sure they regret not giving the devs more time.

Totally. And November 21 actually would have been a solid original release date

Yeah, and a solid release would do wonders for this game. Outlaws end of 2024 and Shadows beginning of 2025 should have been the plan all along. As much as I hate when I'm super hyped for a game's release and it gets hit by a delay it is always the right thing to do.

Oh my God - trying to get the trophy where you get 5 star wanted and then pay off an officer. It doesn’t work on planets as you get your wanted level, but then have to go into a city to pay of the woman, and then get ‘caught’ by any stormtroopers that see you. If you try it in space when you try to land you get ‘Return to Game’ then 10 seconds, dead.

What a fucking shit game this is. Trophies like that are supposed to be fun. Hmmpph.

I finished it yesterday and LOVED it overall. It has bugs and few big design flaws for sure but it's a very good game. Best thing from Ubisoft since AC Origins (I liked Odyssey too but it was bloated as fuck).

Looks like there is minority of people that really like this game.

Oh and card game is very good, too bad there are not that many places to play it:

I got this game for free with my GPU.

It seems decent so far? I kinda wanted to wait because I read that there were some updates coming but I wanted to play something new on my new card so I went ahead and started it. I'm at the open world portion now.

Started playing this and I think it's pretty fun so far, but honestly the performance/IQ sucks, even on my 7800X3D/4090 combo.

I think I'm going to shelve this until this supposed big patch in November, and maybe once I upgrade to the 5090 when it drops in a couple months.

Game is out of alpha. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Damn. Told you it will be a much better experience after nov 21 and playing this on the Pro. 2 more big patches like this until that time.

"Improved melee animation after punching an enemy wearing a helmet" also lol

Just completed it, the last 2 hours or so were kinda cool as an ending. But the game is so up and down I can't recommend it. And not just because of graphic glitches.

I don't think I'm even gonna bother with any of the trophies I missed. Really not worth it.

So apparently Target is providing refunds for assassin's creed shadows, But it seems they may be doing this even if you don't request it because they just accidentally refunded me for Star Wars outlaws too lol 😆 I was like, ok...I seem to have more money in my Bank account for some odd reason lol

So I ended up purchasing both games at the same time simply because Target had the steel book version, When I heard they would be giving refunds because of the delay my assumption would be there just granting it for those who ask, Because on Amazon when tons of games were delayed it's not like I automatically got a refund or something I just waited until the game released like I did with cyberpunk and so many other games that got numerous delays

So I think it's weird they did it automatically but even screwed this up by giving me a refund for both purchases so maybe something is messed up in their system where it's in the same cart the refunding the whole thing by mistake.

I tried contacting them through their chat and it's like the person is telling me the refund is complete and it's like they're not understanding i'm telling them they actually gave me a refund for both instead of one lol

So...basically got Star Wars Outlaws for free lol I'll try to chat with them again, but if they don't see this mistake.........niether did I

That massive update is dropping tomorrow along with the first DLC

Lands on Steam tomorrow as well

First, we've updated the stats on all weapons and enemies, making headshots more rewarding and tuning armor and health for all enemy types, to differentiate archetypes and make them more distinct. We've also added weak points to enemies which allow you take down tough opponents with a well-placed precision shot at the right moment. To bring it all together, new defeat animations and hit reactions have been added to make sure hitting enemies is as rewarding and gratifying as it can be.

Second, we took a step back to review what we would call "weapon feel", to really upgrade gameplay mechanic aspects like recoil, fire rate, ammo and accuracy for every weapon, and we updated feedback in terms of audio, VFX and UI. The goal was to create weapons and blaster modules that feel distinct and rewarding to master. On some weapons, such as the Ashiga ABR-2 Zato Blaster Rifle, we had the opportunity to completely redesign the shooting pattern to bring out the weapon's unique gameplay style.

Next, we reviewed and improved the utility of weapons. For Kay's blaster, we added the ability for the Power module to hit cover and knock out enemies that were hiding behind it. We also updated the Ion module to stun enemies for longer and make them vulnerable to damage while they are stunned. Our intention is to give you more freedom and to make using the different modules during combat even more fun.

For weapons that Kay finds in the field, we made sure that you get to hold onto them longer, even when climbing and traversing the environment or interacting with enemies and the world. This change, that was highly requested, means you can now make longer term strategic choices, get more rewarded for turning enemy weapons against them, and have more varied combat encounters.

Lastly, we've taken a new approach to how cover works. The camera will no longer try and predict which shoulder it should be on, it will now be more comfortable and stable around cover. To facilitate this, we've added the ability to shoulder swap when aiming, giving you greater control and precision. Add to that a host of improvements to the animations around and reliability of using cover and we hope this will let you focus on tactics and action, rather than thinking about the cover mechanics.

As said, we're bringing you many requested changes in Title Update 1.4, which will be our biggest update yet, coming your way on November 21st!

I think I might start a fresh game with all of these additions...
