Switch 2 upgrades look worse than Wii U emulation upscaling

That's exactly what a gpu upgrade is. Otherwise, a 5080 isn't doing anything that a 3080 can't do for example. You're paying more for better performance.

No it’s not, at all. New hardware lets you run new features and settings you couldn’t before. Nobody upgrades from a 3080 to a 5080 to take a game like 2017 BoTW from 30 fps to 60 fps.

No real difference. It’s just a higher resolution and framerate. Big whoop. Nothing that warrants charging extra. If this was a PC game you’d just bump up the settings yourself.

Here it is running on PC in 8K with Ray Tracing:

It’s running on PC with all those mods because modders are putting in hundreds of man hours working on emulation and mods. And they’re doing it for free

Nintendo has employees. Those employees take pay for labor delivered. They can’t work for free unlike PC game modders.

Thats why there’s a charge.

My God. So many people are hurt by the Switch being way more powerful and capable than they initially thought.

That tells you all you need to know.

P.S.: Switch 2 looks MUCH closer to the current gen than Nintendo ever did. And that's because of diminishing returns.

What does a 5080 do that a 3080 can't? Outside of more fake frames? Absolutely nothing. I can turn on every graphical feature in a PC game with a 3080. I just have to contend with worse framerates compared to the 5080.

Why only emulate switch games on pc when you can share online, how much better it is and never shut up about it 🥹

I mean people do upgrade if a new GPU lets them double frame rates. That’s a huge performance uptake.

What a disingenuous first post with a thumbnail screenshot and not the full resolution one. ESPECIALLY like its not like peoples have played it at the demo event or that we have direct footage from treehouse or anything, so to be days late to the party and propose that screenshot as evidence is almost deserving of a ban imo D DoubleClutch You actively went out of your way to make a narrative that does not even exist "oh but but the picture on IGN" yea buddy, you knew what you were doing. You still haven't updated the OP with this so really, a troll.

S2DS as Gambit2483 Gambit2483 nailed down

Also, its not the same assets

Not even the same textures as we can see @ 0:37 - 0:43

Also the reshade "ray tracing" what a fucking joke. Its not ray tracing. Its a filter and works nothing like what the devs set out to do with the aesthetics or the lighting system in the game. It looks awful to be honest, way too saturated and kills the whole Ghibli vibe.

i broke my magnifying glass the other day when it fell out of its belt clip as I was getting out of the car. Smashed right on the pavement. So I'll have to take the OP's word for it that this is a horrible terrible development.

It's updated to 4K, 60fps and HDR. That's pretty good. The HDR support obviously isn't going to be visible on any picture shared here, so we will need to wait to see them impact of that update.

I.. am not sure why anyone would expect the switch to natively support ultrawide monitors, so I'm not sure what your point is here.. Obviously a powerful expensive PC can do more than a cheap handheld console.

It's not about the size of your dick. It's what you do with it.

That's how it would summarize the conclusion of the Switch 2 power debate on GAF.

It’s hard enough bringing in links on mobile, I’m not incorporating APA style references for you.

You think this is worthy of a ban? You must be the most sensitive snowflake on this planet if a screenshot straight from IGN upsets you this much.

Go ahead, report me for this. If this is ban worthy these forums aren’t for me.

I had to pay 10 dollars on PS5 to upgrade my Lost Legacy collection today.

Do you think PS5 is the same as Switch 2 when it comes to charging for upgrades? Because it seems the same...

It's only 10 dollars. I don't expect people to work for free.

I'm just mad that not every game has it. Make every game upgradable for 10 dollars and I'd upgrade my entire library. That would cost me like 1000 dollars but also would be money I'd likely be happy to pay in most cases. Specifically XBCX, Luigi's Mansion, and the most recent Kibry. This is a nothingburger as is the cost of the Switch 2 machine itself. The only cost issue with Nintendo is them charging an extra 10 bucks for the new Mario Kart and not having enough games ready at launch. I honestly think MK is a special case since the last game is one of the most popular games of all time and still sells at full price above most new games today....but also they should have made that clearer during the pricing announcement.

Nintendo is charging 10?

In defence of the uncharted remasters, if You had uncharted 4 and not Lost legacy or viceversa, You got the other one by playing for the upgrade. Plus Sony released 60 fps patch for some of their games, and that was for free

Previous video isn't from there, that has music all through it and talking. Also doesn't have the piss filter Switch/Switch 2 has.

Yea I ain't scrubbing exactly where he took his footage but you see the footage is identical, with just a cellphone app GPS thing on the side so, its somewhere on youtube. Has no impact on what I said.

edit - Actually it is from that exact same footage. The fullscreen water fall climb is from 0:34. The korok section because he stays in split screen he cut off the cellphone.

Weird, why does it have the same piss filter in some sections and not in others?
Edit: Does it depend on the ToD?

I think the Switch 2 is a good console and that it will have a successful future. But these upgrades are a joke, and charging any money for them is an even bigger joke. It should be a complete freebie.

PC games receive much bigger upgrades and they many times make them free. Witcher Enhanced Edition, Bioshock Collection Remastered…
wtf is this?
That's not what the game looks like.
That is a very shitty attempt at taking a screenshot.
Try again, this time from a better source.

The Switch 2 is comparable to a heavily underclocked 2050 which is barely toaster level hardware by pc standards so ...

... No shit Sherlock

That first picture is bullshit or doesn't represent the upgrade. I saw uncompressed footage and it looked very beautiful. Sharp and detailed with a lot of popping colors. It was a night and day difference compared to OG Switch. It was not that blurry as that BS picture you provided.
What?... People on here posting things to suit their own agandas. The mere thought of it. ;) ;)

yeah cemu runs BotW great, but don't let anyone fool you about TotK on yuzu or ryujinx. Even with the optimizer installed there are graphical bugs, shader stutter, and areas that drag the highest performing PCs into 40-50fps territory.

this will be an incredible experience for anyone upgrading, and particularly those who have never played the games. The guys doing the hands on for NL weren't exaggerating. BotW on cemu absolutely blew mind, and in this case there's no set up required or bugs to work around. Well worth 10$.

I knew waiting 8 years would be worth it for BotW

I don't remember the original game being this blurry

We need uncompressed videos for comparison. As always.

Also, of course on PC it looks better. What else is news. But to be honest, the shader compilation stutter on those emulators is driving me crazy. Ruins the immersion and experience completely.
