Need your help guys since I'm not super Tech savy and this is a really selfish question.

I'm hesitant if I should buy the X1X because I can't afford a new 4K TV for now and the X1X is 700$ (with taxes) here in Canada. So, can anyone confirm if my current Sony Bravia TV is good enough to justify the purchase of the X1X? Will I see a significant enough visual upgrade form my One S?

Your TV is from 2011, 1080p with poor viewing angle, cant even find a lag test for it on google.

Just buy what you want for games, lets face it you are not going to get much out of that TV

Can get a b7 55 inch in Canada for 2240$ after tax and shipped. Anyone think it might go lower for Black Friday? We have 15% tax so that's around 1950$ it's been at the 2500$ before tax price for months now.

Just want to chime in here, I've seen that exact issue. Everything was great with HDR until I switched into HDR Game Mode.

It's sort of ridiculous, makes me want to just take the TV back, and pick one up next year.

New to the forums, and I'm looking into buying a 4K TV. Figured its time to upgrade, but I'm not trying to spend a fortune. I think my maximum would be $700. What do you guys think about these three models?

I have the TCL 55s405 and while I am very happy with it (especially for $399.99) outside of GT Sport on a Ps4Pro I'm not seeing a really big difference. The one poster said it was because it doesn't have a Wide Color Range (or something?) but that game looks freaking outstanding in 4k HDR. I hear the TCL p607 is the tv to get and it should fit into your budget as well.

55b6 here....i'm on 04.31.10 (europe)...love the blacks and the iq and i absolutely avoid to upgrade the firmware, but when i try to open youtube i get a prompt asking me to upgrade the application in order to use it.... i dont know whether or not to accept. Do i get the full firmware upgrade or just for the application? kind os a sneaky situation :(
any suggestion?

I took a deep breath and jumped on OLED wagon with LG Signature W7, 65".(Mediamarkt had good deals on them (DE))

My spouse went from "it's silly to spend 4k on a TV" to "wow, what a device".

Excitement aside, I am not convinced with the way white is rendered on the screen (in "eye saving" mode, in other modes it's brighter and effect is not as notable).

Is it common for OLEDs to NOT have good uniform white?

Could you point me to resources with test images/videos for 4k TVs?

The first few things to do are turn off the eco settings. I'm not in infant of my TV right now but there are located at 2 different places in the menu system.

A calibration help set a white point. I'd let the set run for a couple of hundred hours, then get a respectable calibrator to come and calibrate the set for you. The amount of money you spent on a set, a few hundred to get it at it's max so you can enjoy it for many years is worth it.

Well, it's pretty subjective, so it's better to see for yourself.
I'm "black levels" biased persons and for me it's hands down no competition, OLED wins.

Local dimming is too limited to make up for it.

LG is not the only manufacturer rolling out OLED TVs, though. Sony's A1 is quite notable (although, pricey).

LG shoulder really have different branding for their Oleds because a lot of people have this inherent bias. They're not even in the same ballpark as their regular tvs.

Everyone said when Sony (and Panasonic) got into the game, it would be lights out. Not nearly as clear cut a victory, and considering the price difference, most people end up going for the LGs.

Samsungs QLED is just a quantum dot display with a LED backlight. The real QLED TVs are self emissive like OLED and won't be on the market till next decade.

OLED will be king until then.

Regarding that HDR thing.
Watched "Stranger Things" via built in netflix client in LG OLED W7.

Wider dynamic range was great, but it also came with with like 60 frames per second.
Is that because the content is like that (Netflix recorded the show at higher framerate) or did some TV setting kick in?

Is there a way to defeat it?

I just have bought the Philips POS9002 OLED for around €1340 euro's. It haves an 2017 panel and it will get HDR10+ according to Philips, so I won't care about Dolby Vision at all. I actually think that HDR10+ will win the HDR race because of it's open source and backing of big studio's. No doubt Microsoft and Sony will support it too on their consoles.
And the best thing of this tv is Ambilight. It's really amazing to see on the wall and having it synced with the Philips Hue light.

You need to turn true motion off again, as hdr has its own saved settings.

It is also royalty free, unlike dolby.

Wow, background lighting is a really cool feature of Philips TVs.
I know how to make it run with enigma2 router, but it still wouldn't work with on TV apps of my LG. :*(

Looking to upgrade my TV and at this point, literally any new TV I get will be an upgrade as my current TV is an astonishing decade old (no really, I bought it in late 07). I've debated getting a new TV pretty much every fall since 2015 but never found enough justification when mine was getting the job done. This year I've seen that 4k TVs have dropped into my price range and I feel as if I can snag a decent one for around 600 bucks or less. Right now I'm looking at the Samsung MU6300 and looks to be just about right.

However I've looked at reviews of it and it seems like watching sports on it may not be the best. This worries me as the few things I use my TV for is sports, gaming and movies. With sports being 80% of that use. I need something that doesn't give me judder or ghosting during fast activity such as basketball. My friend's TV does that (no idea what model) and it's the most annoying thing in the world and I know I wouldn't be able to get used to it. So if not the MU6300, what else is comparable? I'm willing to forgo 4k and smart features as it's not necessary. Honestly, 1080P with good picture quality for movies and games and the ability to handle sports smoothly would be enough for me in that price range.

You're giving it way too much credit referring to it as a "quantum dot display". They're 100% LCD's, the quantum dot portion is just a sheet/film not unlike a color filter. They have been using QD's layers in high end LCD's for 2 or 3 years now, "QLED" is strictly a marketing term designed to deceive uneducated consumers. Real self emmissive "quantum dot displays" are many many years away, no one has even demonstrated an actual prototype AFAIK, just proof of concept glowing tubes.

The TCL P607/605 is the best budget TV you can get around that price. Much better than the Samsung MU6300. The TCL has things you want in a newer set. Full Array Local dimmin, Wide Color Gamut, HDR10 and Dolby Vision, brighter set and one of the lowest if not the lowest input lag on a TV set

P607s seem to average around 650 right now. A bit pricey, any chance they'll drop in price anytime soon? I'm willing to wait for a bit, maybe until after the new year?

This is how I'm kind of finding it to be. We got to the point where Plasma burn in was rare and I'm not sure that they become more susceptible to burn as they age.

Either OLED improves in that area or it's a better cost proposition when prices drop in 5+ years. Maybe I'm being overly simplistic here.

The 55p605 at BestBuy is the same TV with a different remote but is $50 less. $600 for a 55" 4k with all those features is an absolute steal. If you go any cheaper than that, you will be getting a significantly inferior product.

Depends on how you use it. Watching movies and broadcasts, it may not even happen. Playing games with static bright colored HUDs and watching news channels may show burn-in after a few hundred hours of playing the same content.

Yeah I could onyl find it at Bestbuy so I assumed it might have been some store exclusive model that was worse in certain ways. Only difference is the remote? 600 is right about where I feel comfortable paying.

OLEDs do indeed struggle with whites. Whether it's off-axis viewing angles or just plain old display uniformity, I don't know any display devices that do white that well. All the technologies have their own sets of pros and cons. I have the C7 65", which is the same panel as the B7, E7, W7 etc, and nope - not perfect (or even close to it) white uniformity .

Yes, the model from Amazon has an enhanced remote that also allows you to plug in headphones and stream audio from the TV to the remote. The BestBuy model has a simple IR remote, with no private listening feature. Otherwise, the TV is identical. If you own an Xbox, you can already stream game, TV, and app audio to your headphones via your wireless controller, so that enhanced remote is unnecessary. May as well save $50 on the TV set.

Costco has the the 55" c807 model on sale for $449 right now. They also have the 49" s405 series for $349

Is the KS8000 even available anymore?

XE90 is this years model and has a superior FALD panel compared to edge lit Samsung. Only go with Samsung if you get it significantly cheaper.

My 65c7 nd 65b6 have a few inches on the left tinted yellow on a white screen.
It's 55 that gets it better overall but seems like 65 suffers.
