"RT reflections were developed after the initial delay to AC Shadows. Given the shift in our release window, we wanted to make sure we remained competitive on high-end PCs and PS5 Pro. We had an extremely motivated team that had learned a lot developing the RTGI solution, and felt confident in achieving the objective of shipping RT reflections with a 30fps performance target on Pro. For launch, our priority was quality mode specifically to ensure it didn't prompt graphical artefacts or other issues. We've continued to optimise RT reflections and the game in general, and we're happy to say that a future update will enable RT reflections on PS5 Pro's balanced mode".

Please tell me where I said that. I was saying that PSSR will be better in the future from day 1 (or even before Pro launch). After Avatar and SH2 I was saying that it NEEDS to get better and soon. It took them few months...

This only confirms that PSSR wasn't ready for launch in November.

DLSS is the best upscaler there is. There isn't any doubt about that. I think "annhilates" is too strong, but better.....definitely.
3 isn’t. How’s 4 working on less powerful hardware. I’m curious if this whole “yeah, sure, use 4 on your old 2060…” is in fact an upselling strategy from nVidia to tank your performance.

DLSS4 Performance looks better than DLSS3 Quality, so you get better performance in the end.
That’s very reassuring. If we don’t need thousands of euros of silicon in ML cores to move better models, maybe we can go back to make raster great again. MR.GA!

On consoles, yeah. But so far in specific games TSR and even TAAU (like in this case) can create better results with less issues than PSSR.

Updated version should be better in every scenario.

But there's plenty of games in November that had noticeable improvements with it. So that's incorrect.

In games without RT or with basic RT (like reflections in Ratchet) results were ok.

on my 3070 I get higher framerates and MUCH better image quality at 1440p dlss 4 balanced relative to 1440p dlss 3 quality

1440p dlss 3 quality looks like 1200p or something, better than 1080p but nowhere near native 1440p
1440p dlss 4 balanced somehow looks like 1500p, better than native 1440p

JS has sharpening with PSSR while DLSS doesn't have anything applied (even FSR2 has sharpening)

I already proven TLOU1 just needs update and preset change for DLSS3 to not have issues like that:

Yeah...."on consoles". That's what we are talking about here. The dev "in this case" is saying PSSR will be better than TAA.

Standing still 3 has some advantages. But I play my games moving, not like a DF analysis.

This is about "image quality" though.

DF gave way too much praise to the Pro upgrade of Shadows. No PSSR automatically disqualifies it from contention.

I agree. But I personally don't mind.

I don't buy Ubisoft games until they are $20, so in a month or 2. Lol.

They will have it implement in by then.

Stands to reason given ML upscaling on consoles is brand new. Even coming close to DLSS3, at this point, is impressive and it was desperately needed, imo.

Still scratching my head over the DF's gushing on AC:S on Pro. If anything, this game is putting an exclamation point behind the need for PSSR, but how is it DF wasn't the one saying that?

I hope devs start using FSR 4 so we can see more implementation across console and PC. Kind of begs the question, why even bother with PSSR unless it’s like a lighter version of FSR 4?
