Lots of delusional takes on both sides in this thread.

No, Prime 4 does not look as good as what the PS4/PS5vcan do.

And yes, the Switch is more capable than a PS3/360.

I don't know why people have to take things to the extreme.
That’s graphic whoring in GAF is all about.

Less embarrassing than bringing 30fps shit shows to the discussion. 🤷‍♂️
Plenty of 30fps games on switch and there will be plenty on the Switch 2 as well.
The art style and the feeling that the artstyle presents the player is amazing in MP. It's Nintendo magic at work. More with less.

Yeah, I am blown away by MP and I own all systems and played through almost all graphical heavy hitters the last 30 years.

This might be the best looking Switch game technically.
That I don't disagree with. The Switch deserves to go out with a bang.

So what you're saying is that it's as capable as a 4090?

I feel like both BotW and TotK look better, in every way. Textures, environment size and complexity. They're not FPSs of course. Just saying, they're more impressive to me.

They don't. They run at 30fps with dynamic resolution and terrible FSR. You can't play 30fps on modern TV's so therefore it automatically loses to MP.

MP looks clean, runs at 60 and can look good in motion on modern TV'S. MP wins.

It’s 2025 and we have people flexing the power of the Switch against the PS3.

The fact that it is debatable makes it even more embarrassing.
It isn't really debateable though, at least not to anyone who actually understands the subject matter or isn't just trolling.

As far as the two being comparable being "embarrassing", one is a dedicated console that weighs like 3kg and draws like 100-200 watts, and the other is a portable device like 1/10th the size that draws about 10 watts. Their relative power level makes perfect sense if you understand the underlying physics and technology.

Alien Isolation looks good but plays like shit because of a triple buffered v-sync.

The game has HUGE input lag.

that is an understatement. I think I never played a game with more input lag than the Switch version of Alien Isolation.
and no I'm not kidding.

it has to have about between 300ms and 400ms of lag. it's absolutely insane.

back when OnLive was still a thing, I used it once when it was still only officially available in north America. because cloud gaming was a new concept and I wanted to check it out.
and so I played it from germany on a north american server and doing that still had less input lag than Alien Isolation on Switch. and again, this isn't an exaggeration, I absolutely mean it.

I asked Feral Interactive about this directly and they said that the developers ran multiple tests and in the end decided to go for more input lag vs lower image quality. However, this seems to be a unfortunate choice.

a terrible one yes.
the reason I even played it is that a friend of mine bought it, and shocked beyond belief came over... as in he drove from another town to me, just to show me this...

he was so shocked that he had to fucking share it with someone. he was in utter disbelief, and so was I

Even if your TV is in Game Mode (which it should) it's really jarring.

this happend 2½ years ago. I had the lowest input lag TV on the market at the time, one that is only bested by one of its most recent successors by 0.4ms

so best case scenario basically, and it still felt like playing a cloud streaming game on a server that's on another continent

This is guaranteed OG Switch footage. If you know what to look for it's not _that_ special technically, but it's really well presented.
But not Switch 2 levels at that. It could very well be running on a switch 2 in BC mode, but surely not native Switch 2 code.

Playing this at 120fps will be fun. I was honestly surprised that Nintendo even made the effort for the Switch 2 to have 4K and 120fps capabilities.
It's probably cheaper and makes more sense for future proofing it, not always lower specs are actually cheaper, newer hardware can be cheaper or be expected to be cheaper for most of console's life span due to economy of scales
