UNCOMPRESSED metroid prime 4 footage best looking switch game??

I find it funny how your trying to flex with a switch game that looks like a early day PS3 game while using a early ps4 game that still looks better why not compare it to a PS5/XBX game that also running's at 60+.

Nintendo fans are someone else indeed.
My brother in Christ, at no point did I attempt to flex on your precious PlayStation. My comment was:
PS4 level graphics. Not bad for that lil toy. Excited to see it on Switch 2.
An off the cuff comment indicating that I found the game impressive looking enough that it can be compared to some PS4 games, a 12 year old console. Cue the absolute unhinged masses, including yourself, swooping in to defend their girlfriend with different varieties of "NOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T COMPLIMENT SWITCH GRAPHICS!!! PS360 TRASH!!!"

Look, I am truly happy that you Sony enthusiasts have something in life that you are passionate about but for the love of god please try to regulate your emotions a bit better.

PS3 level. Anyone whos seen the uncharted games etc ... look at the textures etc. Anything not on a character/enemy model is blurry plastic. I mean for a SWITCH its fine - art is good, colors are good, but anyone who thinks this game looks like something current or very striking .... Youre looking at it with rose tinted glasses. Shown on PS4 even this would be criticized. Dont say its PS4 level until you go back and look at what a base PS4 can do, like Killzone Shadowfall or Uncharted 4 etc.
How about PS5 graphics

Some touches of better than PS3 visuals, but mainly between PS3 to PS4 fidelity....my hope with the Switch 2 version is the noticeable aliasing dies.

PS4 level visuals are the last time graphics jumped in a appreciable enough way, so I'm fine with Nintendo being limited to that while delivering portability.

That's like saying "the very best burger at McDonald's!"

Regardless, no there are much better looking Switch games from what we've seen so far. This is nowhere near PS4 level graphics as some are claiming.

I would assume that the resolution on Switch 2 will at least double. it's already 60fps so the performance is taken care of already. increasing resolution is the simplest thing they can do. and higher resolution also means less aliasing by default.

However, there have been rumours about it having raytracing, which could mean that there won't be much of a resolution increase because adding RT would take up a bunch of the GPU resources already.
maybe they will make use of DLSS tho, which would mean less aliasing.

"So Switch 2 has PS4 level graphics in a handheld? Cool!"

"I'm sorry you can't say that. You're supposed to say Switch 2 has less than PS5 level graphics in a handheld"

"Oh, uh, okay...wow this has worse than PS5, better than PS3 graphics in a handheld!"

"Did you just insult PS3?"

yes, RT in a Nintendo game...
they have a system that has RT acceleration hardware, why would they not use it?

if anyone said when the Wii U released
"normal mapping in a nintendo game [insert laughing gif]" they'd rightfully be called a fucking retard...

just saying.
They can't even implement 20 years old tech like shadow maps

The Switch is more capable than it's often given credit for.
It's not a PS4, or even an Xbox One, but it's certainly not a PS3/360/Wii U either.
In the hands of talented developers, it can produce quite nice results.
So it's a PS3.5?

Any platform can punch above it's weight with a good developer. Maybe this is good by switch standards but if you are not stuck in a Nintendo only gaming bubble this ain't going to impress you. I'm taking it from the replies some people here are switch only gamers.

More along the lines of an 8th gen Series S; 2015 technology but with the constraints of a portable chipset. But yeah PS3.5 kinda works I guess in that it sits between PS3/360 and PS4/XBO in capability.

I have a PS5, so I'm by no means stuck in a Switch bubble, but it's only logical to judge a game by the standards of the hardware it's running on, and the laws of physics themselves prevent a portable chipset from being in the same league as a contemporaneous dedicated console.
It would make no sense to judge Switch by PS5 graphical standards when its a completely different kind of device.

Personally, I play on everything from PS5 all the way back to my old SNES, so I've never had any problems appreciated how something looks for its time and hardware.

Yeah I play on a ps5 pro but I play games on it from the latest stuff all the way back to psp, PS1 and even 2D games like Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2.

If the Switch is a PS3 Pro effectively I wonder will the Switch 2 be like a PS4 Pro?

Basically yes.

Roughly it'll be a PS4 in raw power, with a lower power draw but more RAM and a much more modern feature set (DLSS, Ray Tracing and a File Decompression Engine for example).

So because of diminishing returns, Switch 2 will be closer in output to PS5 than Switch was to PS4. But it still won't come close to PS5 / Xbox Series X.

And then when ps6 is out 2 years later it'll be an even bigger Gap. Do you think we'll get a switch Pro in 4 years?

I don't think a Switch 2 Pro will happen. I think like with Switch Nintendo will prioritise battery life improvements, since they know that's important to people.

Diminishing returns are having an impact Even when PS6 comes out I still expect most games in its early years to be ported to Switch 2 and PS5.

Nintendo players are not ready what switch 2 will do for image quality.
Even if it was just switch1 performance, but would have DLSS Transformer model run in DLAA mode over it, image quality would already sky rocket.
I hope nintendo managed to get DLSS Transformer Model for the Switch 2.

If the Switch 2 uses a somewhat modern chip ( Ada lovelace ) its going to murder the old maxwell chip thats in the Switch.
But it being nintendo it probably uses ( in the techwold ancient ) ampere.
Still going from 900 series to 3000 series is 4 GPU architectures in improvement. Pascal was a big jump in efficiency as was ampere.
This thing can be around 10 times the speed of a switch chip on raster + extra performance for DLSS, giving it around a 20 times performance increase and good AA on top of that thanks to transformer model.

All nintendo has to do, is to get the transformer model running as a backbone of the console design.
Lets see if they can, especially games that look like nintendo would get serious CGI vibes with that level of Image quality.
Power diffrence between Switch 2 and PS5/XSX would look way less then it actually is.
Only problem for the switch 2 is that the output to the TV needs to get to 4k somehow, 1440p wouldve been a much better sweetspot to output for the switch 2 but next to nobody is going to use a 1440p screen.

The Switch 2 chip is Ampere, but with some Ada features.

I'm not sure about this. I think the only reason we didn't get a Switch Pro was that the chip shortage made it financially untenable. It seems like certain 3rd party partners even had Switch Pro devkits by the time that Nintendo pulled the plug.

That said, maybe the OLED was such a success that they'll stick with that strategy for the Switch 2, even though I think it was originally just them triaging the last minute decision to scrap the Pro. Who knows.

It can run on it, see the 2050 mobile running the Transformer model in YouTube.

PC gamer here. I'm pleased by Nintendo graphics normally. Now if they only had some better IQ... But that's about it

Why would they add RT? It's a useless feature
Ffs... If the engine is built around RT then it's gonna save a lot of dev time and give better graphics, the problem with current gen games is that engines are still built for last gen graphics, also Nvidia RT cores are way ahead of those in PS and Xbox.

Take Indiana Jones as an example.

I'm not saying they will use RT but it would be the most Nintendo thing to do if they decided to.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is probably using PBR (Physical Based Rendering) at 60 FPS like Metroid Prime Remastered which is a wonder on the Nintendo Switch :)

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be technically the best looking Video Game for the Nintendo Switch!!!

It looks really good!

Now, unless the Switch 2 automatically "boost" the performance of the Switch 1 game (aka, i wouldnt have to buy "Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Switch 2 version"), I will skip it to not buy the same game twice... probably (if the game is just TOO good, i might be unable to resist just getting the switch 1 version)
