At this point i'm scared how the reaction will be if Switch 2 is succesful, given that a lot of people seems to pray for Switch 2 to lead to a new Wii U era for Nintendo, so that the ''bad graphics but still selling tens of millions of copies of games'' era can go away.

Yes, I meant that PS4 is beyond the reach of the Switch, and when considering a graphical impact that comes reasonably close, Halo 4 came to mind. That said, taking everything into account, Metroid still demonstrates greater overall power.

Looks fantastic for sure. Obviously you can nitpick but it's a screenshot, in motion it's not really noticeable.

Always figured people who complain about graphics these days are probably still young and grew up on PS4, everything is relative after all. There's a reason Digital Foundry has to zoom in 100x on a pixel to have anything interesting to say these days.

In terms of hardware capability the PS4 has better tech by a huge margin. That said, there are plenty of PS4 games that look worse than MP4. It’s in the developers hands and what Nintendo is doing with what little power they have is impressive.

I kept the attitude all gen buddy. When Switch was revealed even during the Wii U shit show I was never down on the systems chances. But I'm not deluded. No Nintendo portable will ever be a graphical powerhouse in comparison to the non portables.

I don't recall that but there are dimished returns for sure. As we can see with this new metroid, Nintendo are nowhere near that although the cartoony PS2 style look has a lower threshold. Far less textures needed.

PS3 level. Anyone whos seen the uncharted games etc ... look at the textures etc. Anything not on a character/enemy model is blurry plastic. I mean for a SWITCH its fine - art is good, colors are good, but anyone who thinks this game looks like something current or very striking .... Youre looking at it with rose tinted glasses. Shown on PS4 even this would be criticized. Dont say its PS4 level until you go back and look at what a base PS4 can do, like Killzone Shadowfall or Uncharted 4 etc.

I really wanna be wrong, but I don't know that Nintendo has the creative energy to repeat the success of the Switch in one go..
I hope they hit the ground running, but I am personally expecting failure to some degree. I know it's crazy, but I'm sticking to it for now.
I think Switch 2 will be a success but I don't think it'll match the Switch, and if it ever comes close it'll be a slow burn. My suspicion is that a lot of people bought into the Switch's fundamental concept (play the same games handheld or on a TV) but won't be particularly fussed about buying into a straight power upgrade anytime soon, particularly with the cost of living being what it is. If they can still play Mario Kart and whatnot, other spending priorities will take precedence. There should be a big enough group of so-called 'core' gamers ready to invest in the increased power and the benefits that brings (a wider-ranging library of third-party support, for instance) to make the console an objective success, albeit somewhat dependent on having a BotW-style blockbuster hit or two in its launch window, but I'm not convinced the wider audience will fully buy in, at least not for a while.

No shit sherlock. Well on my pc Halo 4 runs at 400+fps at 4K, you know why? Because it is alot stronger than the Xbox 360. Same for MP4, it runs on stronger hardware and it comes out 13 years later. It should look and run better than a old 7th gen game.

The game we are comparing is not 30fps. That’s the point of the discussion, that this game is pushing the limits of the hardware so well that it’s comparable to some games on more advanced hardware. Try to keep it.
