Fucking ripping off Evangelion is one thing. Now you're telling me that Ayato is Haruka's cousin's son? That's the straw that breaks the camel's backs, kids.
Rah Xephon is a horrible show and I recommend it to NOBODY. At least MSGA was fun to hate. This is just a terrible, slow, not-an-original-bone-in-its-body, shittier version of Evangelion.
Fuck Rah Xephon and its creepy incest. I should've dropped this show as soon as Ayato's mom started coming on to him. I figured "Oh its just crazy mindscrew Oedipal jazz, it'll pass." NOW THIS?
Girard Spriggan? This character is so mishandled. Think the name was dropped once in the previous arc and now I'm supposed to give a shit about her. Or maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention. Cutting to a flashback midfight so jackshit happens in current time is not the way to approach the end of a series. Just a wasted opportunity all around.
Scene at the end with Kio desperately using his funnels while on the defensive gave this episode some modicum of merit however.

It's just the final straw, really. I've sat around for 14 episodes, 90% of which are plagiarized straight from Anno's desk, 5% more being ridiculously dull, and the remaining 5% being somewhat interesting. Rah Xephon just isn't a good show, largely because it steals ALL its ideas from Evangelion, and what it doesn't steal is so predictably phoned in that it's not worth caring about.
It's quite possibly the single most boring Mecha show I've ever seen.
The problems with having 7 less episodes to work with (It was a good thing they got that 4 episode extension). They just went all out with the Newtype stuff at the end because they needed to, they had no choice. Mobile Suit Gundam's way of introducing Newtype Magic was better though, it was more gradual.
I liked how Gihren just assumed that Hitler was a great man before Degwin could finish the story.
I thought it was funny, too, but judging from the fact that WWII was the Middle Ages to him, can he be blamed? How many dumb kids today know who Medieval kings were? I do like the fact that I've had sufficient time to ease into the Newtype hijinks (though episode 40 maaaaybe pushed that) but I wish there'd been more time to understand the Zabi family.
You already know from early in the series that Maya Kamina is a Mulian (as is, as revealed in this episode, Ayato). The Shitow family is clearly not Mulian. So why do they say that Rikudo was potentially Maya's father? Think about it...
Do we know the Shto's aren't? I don't know any of what you've outlined here because frankly, this show hasn't ever bothered to tell me. 14 episodes in and Haruka still hasn't followed through on explaining to Ayato the deal with the blue blood. And now her cousin is the mother of her childhood boyfriend. Between that and the absolutely terribly cliche interactions of Dr. McFey and his stereotypically draconic (but requisitely attractive) assistant, this show has covered pretty much all stupid anime relationships in one fell swoop.
It's clear you hate the show anyway (you really do seem to watch a lot of shows that inspire a LOT of vitriol in you!), so it's not like I'm going to change your mind on it - it's a shame you're stopping where you are, though, as episode 15 is truly excellent.
Also, if you were correct, surely it's no weirder than Eva anyway, what with (Eva spoilers)
Rei being recreated from the remains of Yui Ikari - ergo Shinji is attracted to his own mother in some ways... how very Oedipal...
Well, 1) I've only watched 2 that really inspire vitriol, this and AGE, the others I'm enjoying, as I retracted my earlier criticisms of Gurren Lagann and Eureka Seven. 2)It being comparable to Eva is part of the problem with the entire show, since it's ALL ripped off from EVA, but for the record outside ReBuild I detest Shinji x Rei anyway. Even so, it just serves to show what a terrible job Rah Xephon does at replicating Evangelion, since everything in Evangelion is made compelling and interesting, and everything in Rah Xephon is like seeing my 13 year old self write terrible Evangelion fan fiction without knowing it.
Rah Xephon's just bad. It isn't ever original, and it's terribly boring. It's a shame, because I did want it to be a good show, and I did love the art style. Unfortunately nothing ever happens in the show, nothing ever gets remotely explained, and 14 episodes in we get incest. YAY INCEST.
Now for some good anime:
Record of Lodoss War 7
In this episode, we have climactic battle to the death of King Fahn and Emperor Beld. Once friends, they look a lot like King Hyrule and Ganondorf, but the old King fighting his more youthful friend reminds me more of Math, Son of Mathonwy being run down by the armies of his friend Pryderi in the Chronicles of Prydain. It's a great battle, suitable for a series ending, but we're only really halfway there. Also, Wart, no longer the toad from SMB2, warns Parn that he must defeat Karla, who is actually an evil circlet, that just happens to be possessing the body of Leilia, daughter of the High Priestess. Oh, and Parn fights Ashram, and manages to CUT A TINY PART OF HIS FACE!!! Wooo! Go Parn!
Cardfight!! Vanguard 15 ~ 25: He did it! Aichi stopped being so cheap, bought boosters and could lead his way to the regional tournament with his new cards. It was about time. Also, they meet with the national champ whoo seem suspicious to say the less. To complete it the Misaki centered episode was good. Did I say I like her before? I'm tired of Emi already though, she's such a bore.
Jojo 20: If your name is not "Jojo" you gonna have a bad time in Jojo's show. Though it was not in vain, I hoped he could accomplish a little more than that. He disappointed me.

i agree, as opposed to other's decks, Misaki's doesn't try to show off, it has just this cool -almost arrogant- power that flows out quietly. And before you knew it, she'd exterminate you, keeping her composure.
Ah, crippling shyness, age-old enemy of Japanese schoolgirls everywhere. If becoming an idol can cure social anxiety disorders, who knows what other miracles can be wrought through the power of IDOL CULTURE?
Oh come now, anyone can see it's a dumb show to sell more idol crap, something you normally don't think would be any good. But it's pretty fun in spite of it.

Probably Kio's shining moment for me. Seeing him stick it to Flit was the best, but I wish they'd carried it all the way through. "You're no savior!" Is the best timed line of the entire series.
Rinne No Fanservice 7
Hoo boy, was there ever fanservice in this episode. From the eels to the baths to the skinny dipping to the groping. LOTS of fanservice. What surprised me, though, was that it was an excellent episode with meaningful moments, fanservice not withstanding. The eels were egregious, but the bath served as a meaningful, if pandering, bonding experience for the girls. They're starting to really pull together now, and it's turning into a heartwarming little show about the powerpuff girls. We also got to see some backstory to Muginami and Google Video.
Mirai Nikki 26 END
Well that was certainly something... The show pulled a last ditch effort of BS, things went awol one last time and then it ended. The ending was certainly something. I'm not sure I'm satisfied by it and the post ED stuff is rage inducing levels of teasing. Fuck this show.
I suspect there's incidentally a lot of less-heard-from groups in animegaf. It's hard to rally around something and promote it if no one else seems to (outwardly) care.
Sure there is. Don't you see the HxH posts each week?
I mean, speaking for myself, I'm pretty shounen-friendly. I'd be posting about One Piece and Toriko each week if I wasn't like two years behind on both
