Are the exotic engrams giving exotic items? Anyone confirm otherwise? I never had one, but after so many legendaries turning rare, I dunno if I should spin that wheel...

Goddammit. I really wanted the Titan Defender gear from Xur last week but couldn't afford it, and now he's selling a Striker item instead
For pvp, heavy machine guns get a lot more mileage. For PvE, I suppose it'd be worth it, but a secondary or primary would see more use due to heavy ammo rarity, so you'd be better off aiming for something else.
Well it was a definite exotic for me, just not for my class.
Personally wouldn't use an exotic heavy weapon. I'd go for an exotic primary or secondary just because you use them more.

Is there a reason not to drop my Motes of Light on the chest. If I don't care about buying stuff from the Speaker that is. No idea how I got so many.

Xûr, Agent of the Nine is the protagonist of Destiny as far as I'm concerned. I care more about his obviously weirdass goings-on more than I do any of the characters in the story campaign. Most importantly he's not the Cryptarch. Would he screw me?

Opened up my 15 or so legendary engrams and an exotic one I just bought.
Ended up with the Exo chest that he was selling and legendary Hunter boots, which aren't particularly useful to my Titan.
Did get a legendary Scout Rifle and two different legendary Machine Guns, though.

The chest effects don't seem very pronounced. Probably wait for another slot to show up and work towards filling it with a legendary in the meantime.
~15 legendary engrams with 4 hits on legendary items is about 26%, the researched odds of ~34% seem pretty believable.
