How long do you guys think it will take for the Leviathan DLC? Think it will be free?
There is no DLC planned, so if theres gonna be any its at least a year away.

I too want more FFXVI but I dont think well get more story content for a good while if at all.

So I finally completed the end of game area.

I still feel like the game starts strong, continues to ramp up but hits a peak somewhere in the midway point and sort of starts to slide. For me that's specifically the more the game focuses on Ultima. I didn't find it to have much mystique or interest for myself personally as the whole kill god thing is done just about every time one way or another, I felt the story strong points were moreso in the characters, world, and the attempt at political intrigue. This is why I began to enjoy the side quests more than the main story beats later in the game. As far as spectacle, I think the fight with Bahamut in the sky was mostly peak for the game as well, the end didn't do much for me. I also didn't care much for Barbanas, though the bit in the ocean was nice. I think the area of the tower could have been much stronger spectacle.
A bit of a vague ending, but I guess either Clive or Joshua one lived to write the book shown afterwards - Clive was given the quill and I'd rather assume he lived as Joshua coming back to life cheapens what story there is there at the end for me, but the book appears to be authored by Joshua?

And finally some questions about NG+
I had a few hunts left as well as I did not mess with the simulation environments at all. I did one stage and completed one trial (shiva). Should I load my old game and bother to do any of that? Is there a reason to? I started a new game on FF mode and so far it's not very difficult, but I'm only at the hideaway so there's a lot of room for improvement. I'm just not sure if I have it in me to do all those quests again right now so I'm not sure if should reload my old save and work on that stuff or just carry on from the NG+? I was thinking NG+, but also thought I'd have access to the simulation stuff but I guess it makes sense not to. Thoughts?

Dear god, sidequests are killing me, i just opened the 4th map, can anyone say if they ll got better ?

I just skiped all the Mids main quest cause it was so boring.

A game focused on action comba that barely has any sidequest with combat, god damn it.

Well didn't skip one single quest so far, but thats how I play my RPGs, I never skip side quests........unless involves farming.....I'm looking at you Nier.

I’m sorry it’s happening to you too. Although I’m glad I’m not alone here on GAF. I mean, I know there’s already a few others, but you know what they say about misery.

I have the game on hold until it’s patched. It really does hurt my head, and it makes me not able to concentrate on the game itself.
It‘s a minor problem compared to the leather noises…Clive gets another outfit later on with leather pants again right after I thought I could escape the farting noises…he really is the Dominant of flatulence. Hell he squeezes his hand in a cutscene and it makes a fart noise.

13 years of not farting one single time, till he got some new leather pants….then all hell breaks loose.

Most side quests just add a bit more story to some side characters or add more to the world building. I have done them all so far and they range from pretty bad to decent. The side quests with a + sign, gives you something unique, like increase number of potions u can carry, unique weapon, mount, etc. So dont skip those.

Usually i dont, but i m so bored that i just dont care anymore.

For someone that played 14 ( and skiped a lot of dialogue) i know how boring sidequests can be sometimes.

I think I'm gonna have to rank Clive among the best FF protagonists, next to Cloud and Ramza.
Yeah, I surprised how much I liked him. Before the release I got impression that he was going to be angry all time and only thinks about revenge but that was not the case at all…..but I like when gets angry especially during Hugo fight.

Where do you even find all the chronolith challenges? I've got 100% map exploration and only recall seeing one for Shiva..
Not explored well enough. I havent done the challeges yet, but i think i found 2 chronoliths in each region. The maps are quite big, so better just google they locations.

So if they end doing some DLC, something was hinted by
Joshua, he mentions Leviathan is in one of the Eikon murals towards the later part of the game.

Yeah I thought that was rather tacked on I felt like it really didn't even need to be mentioned it did more harm than good considering there's nothing else about it at all anywhere.

But maybe that is the reason.

I turned on the Gold Saucer theme from OG FFVII and immediately had a realization that XVI had no real break away from the serious overtones. I think it’s good, but it isn’t on my top list of favorites. I feel like I’m going to forget most of this game in the coming months. They recycled the same room and group of enemies for their dungeons. After Diablo IV, that’s over saturation. I hate to get too picky, but I hope XVII takes some lessons from this and they’re not just sniffing their own farts over the sales/scores.

Did the
Bahamut
battle last night, a real tour-de-force, how are they going to top this lol. Lots of wild stuff narratively in this chapter too, some fantastic cutscenes.

One thing I do wish was that the game maintained traditional Limit Breaks. The whole "rage mode, Devil trigger" etc has been done in so many other games. I always looked forward to unlocking the newest, flashy move in past entries. These of course started with FFVII but the seeds of it can be found earlier, think about Sabin's Blitz attacks in FFVI requiring specific inputs. So many cool attacks throughout the years from Squall's 'Blasting Zone' to Balthier's 'Flame Purge', Cloud's Omnislash most definitely.

And it all could have still worked beautifully within the current structure. Activate Limit Break, game goes into slo-mo and menu pops up to allow you to choose which one to use depending on how many bars it requires. Guess they really wanted to keep the focus on constant, fluid action and differentiate it from the FFVII remake, oh well.

That sort of stuff is the difference between an 88 meta and 94+

The game is a great foundation to build on. Really good game but has a few flaws that prevent it from being elevated higher, but it’s wayyy better than recent final fantasies

Is still a top 5 final fantasy game for me

CBU3 and especially Yoshi-P are not ones to take criticism lightly. They've always paid close attention to feedback with FFXIV, and I believe they'll do the same with FFXVI. The problem is there probably won't be much they can do, since many people's problems with FFXIV are pretty fundamental.

It may not even matter, because we have no idea who's developing XVII.

Yeah I liked it more than XIII, Type-0, Crisis Core, XV, and everything after XII. I loved XII. That’s been the last Final Fantasy that I had that home feeling for. Squaresoft was idolized by me growing up. I really haven’t had the same feeling for them and it’s kinda sad. I use to make excuses because the games were long and had a lot of text. Now a days I’m not so nice about it. I think Square has a lot of competition these days, but they have excellent production value to their IP.

I suspect XVII will be their next mmo.

Getting to level 100 is by no means necessary, but if you want to grind tha I found a prety fast place. Equip all 3 EXP accessories (Scholar Spectacles, and On Fortune and the Heavens I & II) for +55% EXP. Warp to The Shadow Coast. Chocobo to center of town with orcs, traning group 1. Get off chocobo near stairs, run and shoot 2, run back and up stairs and shoot 3. Gather them up in middle, Dancing Steel and then Zantetsuken. Sometimes they get too far and reset\run back to spawn, lowering you to744000 or 500kish but still really fast.

Is this a new game plus grind?

Possibly not. AFAIK, XIV was far more successful than XI so they could see fit to keep XIV around for longer. It’s not like they’re obligated to make every third entry a MMO.
Since im a newbie I was looking at the final fantasy games available for sale and was going crazy because I couldnt find 11 in steam or ps store lol.

At some point I nicknamed it internally "FF11 the lost" turns out its just a discontinued mmorpg

Do the titan and Bahamut fight get topped?

Can they even be topped????

Power-wise It felt like Titan is meant to be portrayed as way stronger than Garuda, Phoenix, or Ramuh, and he canonically owns Shiva, but Bahamut is like a world ending threat lol.

The attack Bahamut casts at the end wouldve literally destroyed the planet. Only Donald duck has had such power before.

And no I think thats the absolute top in the game but there's more good spectacle coming.

Alright, tried my first Cronolith trial, smoked Stage 1 and thought I was the cock of the walk, realized in Stage 2 there aren't any potions for healing, the real FFXVI starts here 👌

You talking about that epic Kingdom Hearts 3 move he pulled at the end? That shit was epic.

I don’t know what people expected. I am fine with these small bite sized quests that add some flavour. I don’t need to waste whole day doing it.

And it’s not like you are suddenly playing a racing game in side quests in other rpgs.

Made it to the halfway point, and my opinion has changed somewhat. At the start of the game I was really feeling it, but now I think I've taken in the full measure of what this game is, and I'm sad to say I'm a bit disappointed overall. I feel like they substituted depth and content for flair and flash, much like Tales of Arise did.

Don't get me wrong, I still think it's an amazing game, but let's be honest: it's a highly polished hack n slash, cinematic experience. Personally I think Hogwarts Legacy is the better experience. Of course that could all change if FFXVI pulls the rug out from under me and evolves into something more than: fight mobs of enemies, cutscene, boss battle, cutscene, mob enemies, cutscene etc.

Anyone get a weird bug where enemies health resets and they run away in open areas? Seems like when they get too far from their usual roaming area. Seems like a weird oversight that should have been fixed in play testing
