It just started resetting randomly. Especially if I try to update or install something. I called MS tech support and they couldn’t help me, they literally just said I need to take it into a Microsoft Store… the closest of which is over an hour away.

So yeah, it just doesn’t work. Seems like either a super corrupted firmware install, or a problem with the PSU. Or possibly the SSD/RAM (but that’s much less likely).

Either way, definitely sucks.

Yeah the games for this are nowhere near the OG xbox or 360 that’s why I think it sucks. Where are games like halo? Fable? Splinter cell? ninja gaiden? KOTOR? Black? Elder scrolls 3/4? Lost odyssey (a JRPG exclusive believe that?), mass effect? Bioshock? Nowhere to be found.

I really like the Series X hardware. It has features that I really enjoy. The problem I have is the software strategy. I don't feel comfortable investing in games there anymore, at least not until they have a plan that makes sense. So I've been buying most games on Steam or PS5 instead.

Question for Xbox owners about the much-touted Quick Resume feature. If I want to pause playing a game on PS5, I put the console into Rest mode. Then, a couple hours later when I want to resume, I turn the console on, and I'm back in the game at the same point. How does the Quick Resume feature differ from this?

You can do it with multiple games and I might be wrong on this since I haven't utilized the feature that much; with an update that they released later, you can even resume a game after a full shutdown. On the PS5, you are putting the system to sleep and going back to that last game you had running while with Xbox, you can return to any of the games that have been put in "quick resume" mode. It's like having multiple windows open on your computer and if you don't close it out you can return to them, or sort of like how it is on our phones. I am not sure if you can do it with more than 5 games now but that's what I remember from launch and as I shared earlier, it's not I feature I use that often. I barely use the resume feature on PS5 so lol.

A truly neutral person wouldn’t word the last part of their post as “…when I do play Sony exclusives….” as if it’s so hard for them to play a game on the PS5. The console itself is good. The controller is crap compared to DualShock5. No games.

I had one from launch until september this year. Since I never owned an Xbox before, I took gamepass and played through all the exclusives I missed. Then I sold it. Sold my ps5 too, and now I have a PS5 Pro.

A Switch 2 I will buy, a ps6 as well. Never again an Xbox.

Last time I checked PlayStation was dominating Xbox pretty much everywhere. That's not just a GAF thing.

I bought the Series X the day it came out, was a huge supporter of MS consoles going back to the OG Xbox. I probably have over 1,000 games for all of the Xbox platforms combined to give an idea.

Series X is great hardware with a lot of good features. The controller is a bit meh for me unfortunately as they didn't bother to do any real changes with it. The Dualshock 5 is a much better controller IMO, but the trade-off is the battery life is worse on that than the Series X controller. Either way it doesn't matter all that much to me.

But for me the real problem with the Series X is the genuine lack of exclusives. The only thing I use it for are Xbox One and backwards compatible 360 games even though I have several 360 consoles with one hooked up currently. I think GamePass isn't all that great personally. It's okay for trying certain things out, but I much prefer owning games whether it be digital or physical. However, I have shifted more back to physical purchases with digital purchases being the stuff no physical release existing.

All that being said, my complaint with this gen has nothing to do with hardware, but lack of exclusives as previously mentioned. It's like they blew their load on the hardware then said fuck it about software. I don't get it. They killed it during the 360 era with software, then completely forgot that you need it within two generations. I only keep the Series X because I like to play the few Series X exclusives here and there, but the PS5 gets more of my time these days. I go where the games are at the end of the day.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the system\hardware itself. The main issue it is missing to many games I want to play. Legend of heroes series missing and Y's series. It was also missing most of the Mihoyo games, Aterlier games, Yakuza and Persona games. Some of these have now come to the system but it's to late I've moved on as a customer. They've also just recently had 1 GOTY title and another potential GOTY title delayed from their system. I don't care why those games were delayed but they shouldn't have been and I as a potential customer really don't really care about excuses.

Also Sony exclusives are just better to me. I was never a fan of Halo even when I had my 360 and Gears was fun as hell but after 3 games I'm kind of done with that playstyle. Cover shooters to me got old quick. Plus I replay Mass Effect a lot so that takes care of any cover shooter needs for me.

I like it. I'm now on a 3 months only playing it, Started with Sniper Elite 5 and Black Ops 6 and waiting for Stalker 2 and Indiana.

It's a good console, the issue to me like been told already here, is how much will i need the next Xbox if everything will come to PS as well, we'll see.. i'm not writing anything off, perhaps even as a GP machine it will be worth it for me, But one thing sure is that MS made things unclear as how the future look.

For XSX? i don't have a single regret, fine console that gave me what i expected when i bought it.

The X isn't a bad console, it's solid but it's just not a particularly good one because it doesn't provide anything meaningful compared to the alternatives you can get. There isn't a big enough reason to pick it over a PS, Switch, or PC. What's worse is that it's hamstrung in terms of releases by the Series S so while PS and PC players are enjoying some releases those on Xbox are left twiddling their thumbs. But hey "quick resume", that might do it for some.

What do you think of Quick Resume?

I originally liked it as a feature, but I play half of my time on the cloud through my Steam Deck. Quick resume doesn’t carry over and if I play a game as a handheld, it throws up a warning and sends me back to the title screen on the console.
It’s kinda where my life is right now with the kids getting older and my wife using the living room more than she used to. I am happy the option is there and it is nice when I use it.

Series X is not a bad console, but the fact is that PS5 is simply better in every single aspect. Game performance is on match (even with weaker hardware), Dualsense is a much better controller (and technically much more advance) and besides the better line-up of exclusives, PS5 still receive MS own games. Even PS Plus is good.

As someone who primarily games on PC these days, there is something nice about having a dedicated gaming box with no fuss controller support. But generally speaking, yeah, Xbox very much lacks a reason to exist for the average enthusiast.

I personally never liked the white 360 design. It reminded me too much of a maxi pad from the front. If you had said the Xbox 360 E I would have agreed with you. That thing was designed beautifully with a great form factor.

It's just a shame it arrived so late in the console's lifecycle that it didn't get more custom colors.
