where'd you find the disguise
lower right corner of the map, it’s among the loot in a small closed area you reach when going through a hole in a fence after a zip line
I found it late, not sure but could be missable so don’t rush away from the map when Indy starts talking about wrapping things up. I missed a mystery from skipping it and going too far on the main story. Hoping you can return later.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
One question. If i want to do everything, should i 100% the first HUB before moving forward or i can come back later/at the end of the game?

I'm fairly sure you should be able to come back later, cause I picked up something in the Vatican that lists locations for all collectibles in Marshal College.

Also, before leaving for the final story mission in Vatican City, Indy made a comment that I should wrap up things here before moving on.

So, you are given a heads up beforehand.

I got that and i also got the last side mission. I did all side missions and mistery quests and almost got all the collectibles. I think im gonna move forward with the main quest now :D

I was too nosy and stepped over a progression spot, missed a mystery puzzle among other things, you don’t get the ”Are you sure you want to leave? Yes/Now” warning, it’s just some chatter at one point.

After exploring a huge empty excavation site, and some kind of small military base with a locked cell, I eventually found a guy talking about these places later. But me visiting these places was totally devoid of any sense, such a weird experience. You go there, beat the bad guys and then... nothing. Because I suppose that the story event is removed until you actually trigger the right event first.

What's the point of being able to go to all these places early ? You need to give this some meaning, otherwise it only leads to a super weird experience. Like guards standing there, guarding stuff but there is nothing to find and they don't say anything...

Not locking the player is a commendable idea, but this is implemented poorly at least in this first part of the game.

Any workaround for the broken frame gen? Right now I'm just using RT indirect lighting and turning off shadows and reflections. At 4K DLSS Quality I'm getting between 65-70 in the starting jungle. With frame gen I can turn on RT Sun Shadows as well.

To get access to the fight club, you have to reach a certain point in the main quest to open up the area where you can pick up the blackshirt uniform. meeting Gina and the arrival of the airship

Can you be a little more specific? Like where do I go exactly after meeting her and seeing the airship?

Fight club is in a room with a locked door (if you knock without a blacksmith uniform they say "only guards allowed" or something like that. It is located in a side hallway, then down a few stairs, under the ramp that leads up to the fountain area, way over on the left side of the map to the south of the large base complex where you rescue the boy (if you got that mystery quest). The uniform is with 3 guys in a little alcove area, boxing each other. Someone posted a pic of the place that showed indys wrist all curled up with the whip, forget if it was this thread or not. Anyway, you get there by climbing through a fence with a low hole cut through it up on the roof, around where you look for the cats IIRC.

Ok yeah I see where I missed it. After you take the zipline and land on the roof after meeting Gina the hole in the fence is right there that leads to it.

If you go to the fight club door before the uniform, it should add a marker on your map for the guesstimate area where you can find the uniform. Not sure if it's there at all times, but the map did show me the estimated location with the navigation option enabled.

Also, story is picking up in Gizeh. This is as good, if not better, than the adventure tales in the movies.

And I really like the Voss character. It's like what they tried to do with Mads in the last movie but a lot better executed.

You need access to this door

Indiana-Jones-and-the-Great-Circle-2024-12-10-20-05-13.png

Which you can find opposite the workers office on the excavation site

Indiana-Jones-and-the-Great-Circle-2024-12-10-20-05-35.png

For the door to unlock, you need Gina to unlock it for you, and you meet her as you exit to the excavation site on a prior part of the quest. Just keep doing the main quest and you will exit from the site and see her walking in there.

After the door is unlocked, walk in and through the doorway in the middle, up the stairs to a church site

Indiana-Jones-and-the-Great-Circle-2024-12-10-20-04-35.png

Balcony doors on the right lead to a wire you can zip down to a roof on the other side

Indiana-Jones-and-the-Great-Circle-2024-12-10-20-06-33.png

Turn around and find the opening in the fence, and down there in an isolated area are three blackshirts you have to defeat so buff up on health, bread and fruits. Once you beat them, you can pick up the blackshirt gear (uniform, baton and keys). And return to the underground boxing ring.

Gizeh progress:

Unlocked the Nazi uniform, the entire map is open to me now, huzzah.

The whole cut-scene with Voss, Indy, Gina and the german officer's fight was so good. Like watching a Spielberg directed movie scene.

Almost purchased this game now but saw it had a fu***** pre-order bonus with costume and last crusade goodies that are now unavailable.

Fuck it, Fuck these pre-order items really.

They say it can boost pre-order, yeah okay sure, but what about frustrated people who end up not buying your crap because of that damn FOMO ?
Why can't they just add these items as separate DLC at the very least ?

Wanted to support the dev, now gonna wait for -50% minimum.

Sweet irony : People pirating the game now get access to more content than legit. Way to go devs.

Yes it's just a damn costume, but no, i will never accept these practices. FOMO on Single Player games is cancer.
I feel you man. I literally pre ordered it for this reason. It’s fucking bullshit that games have been doing this for like the past decade. The amount of times I’ve been fucked is unreal. With the Modern Warfare 2019 you could get an SAS and U.S. Marine skin if you bought like the $90 edition. If you didn’t, you were fucked.

PSA / Pro-tip:

If you're in an enemy presence area (even in disguise) and about to pick something up, if you see the word "Steal" next to it (eg Steal Money), do *not* pick it up.

The word Steal only appears when you're in an enemy's line of sight, if you pick the thing up, the enemies will aggro, even if you're in the appropriate disguise.

Wait for people to move around, as soon as the word Steal disappears, pick the thing up.

I made a quick video of beating the 2 final opponents in the fight club. I bought the book from the guy next to the ring, and fused two health bits together to build resilience (apparently). And Ive bought one health and one stamina upgrade from Valeria the apothecary, plus read some of the books on melee combat...

Parrying and then countering with a couple of swings, backing off and then doing it again hopefully on their next swing. And try and keep them locked in. Probably many ways to do it, like you can charge a powershot to hit through block, or use push and clinch but I didnt really try that. And some books to unlock the ability to use that on heavyweights.

Fuck dude I missed the confessional scene too. How do I trigger that? I was in the Sistine Chapel a shit ton over the weekend doing the sidequest for that crabby nun and it never occurred.

It's a part of a side quest, right before you leave for the final story mission in Vatican.

When Indy says he should wrap m things up, you should also get a new field research mission to go talk to Gina in the cistern chapel, that confessional scene happens near the start of that side mission.

Jesus. Glad I started over lol

it triggers after meeting gina again in the chapel, I don't think it's really missable if you are simply doing her story thread.
That mission is missable as it shows up as an optional field research, it's not a part of the mandatory story quest.

adamsapple

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
you can't use the travel feature to simply go back and do it?

At the point I'm at in the story, there is no way for me to go back to Vatican from Gizeh.

But I have heard elsewhere that yes, you will be able to go back. I'm guessing after a point you get free roam across the world.

Go into the menu and set upscaling to TAA and then set it back to DLSS. Fixes it for a lot of people and kind of helps for me but it's still kinda borked for me either way.

This fixes it.

Something is not right.
I got the steam version and there is no path tracing option... apparently limited to min 12gb vram and I got 10.
Then, the game goes to fucking 3fps if I get 4k, dlss balanced and supreme settings (again, no PT available).
But once I switch to 1440p.... then it's 60 fps+ even with quality DLSS.
As soon as the game touches 9700mb vram, it goes to 3fps and stays there.... and to be honest it doesn't look that good to warrant that.
edit: Listen guys, I even dusted off my pc and installed new nvidia drivers lol.

Game just keeps getting better. At this rate there's a good chance this replaces Silent Hill 2 as my GOTY. Off to Egypt!

With path tracing, this just might be the best graphics of the year as well. A few more of my shots:

Just as an academic exercise, I have 2 images from the same (or very close) spots from yours, so we can put Series X and PC w/ Path Tracing side by side.

My personal opinion:

Pic 1. The PC version is more lit-up, but I kinda like the way the Xbox version looks more with more of Indy in shadow with his eyes being clearly visible.

Pic 2. PC Path Traced version has a nice hue / traced light on the left portion of the image, but Xbox version is no slouch.

Did you turn off Low Latency in NVCP? Track your VRAM usage with an on screen display. You might be bottlenecking.

Memory allocation, put it on high I think. Higher tier if you see the performance hold. ID tech was like this also for doom, barely a noticeable effect of streaming from supreme to high, or even medium for that matter.

Slimy snake also said he didn’t have PT but I thought maybe it would be a gamepass version issue. Sucks they locked it to 12GB minimum. That means a 3060 12GB can run it but not you? 😅. That’s an idiotic thing from the dev. Leave peoples to try it out. Reduced memory hungry effects, smaller memory allocation, maybe DLSS balanced, etc.

For sure a mod will unlock it. Apparently Russians on a forum have found out how but I can’t find anything.

My 3080 Ti does it without frame gen (takes memory) but a 4070 with 12GB and frame gen is fine also? Puzzling decision.

I don't use that. The only thing I ever do in nvcp is force vsync globally to ON and turn it off in all games. If I remember correctly, it helps with gsync.
I also limit fps to 120 in rtss.
And yeah I have rtss set up. Vram at 9700mb constantly.

I switched textures pool size to HIGH and it runs ok now. 70-80fps with all maxed out (supreme or whatever) and 4k(dlss balanced).
Vram still maxed out, so not sure what's different. Switching this to more than high, destroys the game but nothing changes.
Does it actually affect textures quality?
If so, maybe I should lower shadows to regain some vram and increase textures pool size?
Even DLSS at dlaa at 4k does not bring it down to 3fps crawl like ultra memory pool does. so stupid

Also, first impression (only made it to vatican and punched few guys) are very positive. This is a normal game. The old style like they don't make them anymore.
One thing I've noticed is that it controls AMAZINGLY with the controller sticks. Seriously... Remedy terrible deadzones, acceleration and whatever the fuck is horrible compared to fast, clean sticks in this.

Xbox Series X version looks great! But there's a few things:

  1. The two shots you replicated are both from cutscenes, which are going to rely on carefully placed baked lighting much moreso than gameplay. Gameplay is where the biggest differences are going to be with real-time path tracing.
  2. On PC, HDR screenshots are captured in JXR format and I have to manually edit them to convert them to PNG and bring them down to SDR levels. It's an imperfect process though so I wouldn't put too much stock into the color saturation of my shots vs yours.
  3. There's also a lot more fine detail/image clarity in the PC shots vs Xbox, but that's more down to resolution than anything.

I'd recommend this if the pop in annoys you:

Add the following line at the end of your config file, located in the directory where your saves are stored:
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\MachineGames\TheGreatCircle\base\TheGreatCircleConfig.cfg

r_lodscale 3

It's a weird bug for sure with 3-4fps and vram limit.
4k, balanced, everything supreme. (no pt). Textures on ULTRA, Launch the game, 4fps. Set shadows to low, vram dips to 9500, fps unlocks to 80. Then I can set shadows back to ultra and it stays at 80... with textures still on ultra

Nah, I am fine. If would prefer PT though once folks find a way to enable it

Yea for real. ID tech since doom has been finicky with VRAM overbloat but the memory allocation setting will make almost all problems disappear. I have 45-60 fps on a 3080 Ti and 5800x3D ultrawide 1440p, DLSS quality, at high settings and medium memory allocation. I used to have memory allocation to high and it worked for a night, then I came back the other night and performed like 11 fps, so set to medium.

The settings are finicky right now, bugs in the settings, such as defaulting to TAA rather than DLSS when opening the game, etc.

Tweaking a bit you should definitely see good performances.
Tried a bunch of different things but it’s always choppy here with path tracing.

Everything max with no RT is like this, in Gizeh, on a 60hz TV so this is locked.
sv9gcCF.jpeg

🤗

And with max RT path tracing:
9QKDhzS.jpeg

😬

At best I could tweak it up to 40fps, which is a stuttery mess without VRR.

I also stumbled into a save damage bug… Unable to load the save. Fun. There was an option in the menu to do a rollback on the saves, tried that, it said it couldn’t be undone, but same problem again… Had to go all the way back to end of Vatican before it worked again.

Check this timestamped digital foundry video

Also at 9:45 he mentions the impact of the textures streaming. I've run the game hours on medium texture size for getting path tracing in and I've never seen the texture taking time to load. He says the texture quality can be impacted at a distance, but even at a 800% zoom it's barely noticeable stuff.

Still in the Vatican, holy shit is this thing big. I wouldn't call it an immersive sim IMO but exploration and traversal is Dishonored vibes. It's simple is a good way, both combat and puzzles but level design is king. I like where the story is going. Great voice acting. I think they nailed it
