It's another reskinned lego game. Who buys these games anyway?

Insecure teenage boys. Although I must admit I haven't played Forbidden West yet so maybe my opinion will change.
It’s not a reskin, it’s made by a different studio, and why are you slagging people on their opinion for something you admit in the next part of the same sentence you are unfamiliar with. Please, pay attention.

How bad can it be though to act like a child about a game?

The Horizon series has sold as much as Gears of War series.....but with half the of game releases.

Horizon is extremely popular which is why they're trying to put it everywhere.

I think this popularity is an illusion. They made so many bundles for this game that it was almost impossible to buy a PS4 without this game included.

Where are they then?

This game isn't going to sell well anywhere.

Like I said in the review thread, complete waste of time. Herman is high off his own supply.
it’s a kids game. probably didn’t even cost much. Assume most of it’s sales will be on Switch.

Let's see, as of January 2020, combined sales of Horizon Zero Dawn in the Americas and East and Southeast Asia were a total of 8,842,114 units, 2,881,620 of which were bundled.
This means that less than 33% of HZD sales, across those specific regions and up to January 2020 were from bundles. While over 67% were NOT from bundles.
We can't really use numbers from Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia/Oceania, India, Turkey and Russia here as not only they were tracked until November 2019, but they also had no bundle separation from retail sales.

People hate Aloy, for some reason. And they hate Hermen, for some reason. None of those reasons are rational, so they translate that into hating the game and claiming it's not popular. For some reason.

Yeah, I think it’s a mix of more “HR in the room” in Forbidden West and it being more of the same as OG game, but with a worse story.

Couple that with Sony determined to make Horizon one of their main IP pillars.
Worth pointing out that the person who you're all quoting these days(HR in the room) had this to say about Forbidden West.

Do we have any numbers to compare to other LEGO games on Steam? Doesn’t really seem like a genre that’s very prolific on PC.

That being said it also wouldn’t surprise me if Horizon fatigue has set in. Sony is acting like it’s a Nintendo level franchise when it just isn’t. It’s not bad but it is pretty mediocre aside from the production values. It’s basically the Ubisoft open world formula with good art direction & a unique setting.

Weird enough for me. My girlfriend was super stoked for this game. No clue why, she even preordered it on the switch and downloaded it last night. Steam though, is probably not the place where lego games thrive anyways. Just an odd experience that I had myself since the game just seemed like a weird thing to make .... like lego and horizon... but why? I liked the first game and never got around to the 2nd one.

Sounds about accurate and as expected from a Horizon entry, and no matter how hard Hulst tries Horizon doesn’t have what it takes to be a strong AAA IP as Uncharted or TLOU

But a tv show, a movie, a superbowl ad!!!! It will be a world renown hit !

I have never played a Lego conversion title on PC. They have all been switch, ps, or Xbox.

Do folks actually enjoy pc-coop in these titles? I didn’t expect it to perform on pc but I have much higher expectations for the switch and ps.

Yeah, these are definitely titles that sell much better on consoles.

Nope, the reasons are very rational.

Aloy is an empty-shell character. In 100 hours of gameplay, I barely learned anything about her. It's a badly written character like Rey from Star Wars, a nobody. Her design is the best thing about her, by far.

Yes, the Horizon saga is popular, but not because of her. They created an interesting world with awesome-looking dinosaurs and top-notch graphics. That sells. Said this, it's popular but not nearly as much as the demented Dutchman believes. The long-term potential is limited. This isn't Tomb Raider, FF, or Assassin's Creed. 3-4 main games and that's it.

Really? Not a SINGLE comment has mentioned that, unlike the other Lego games, this one's banned in the majority of the world like all other Sony games. They've made people so used to this insanity that it's not even in the minds of hardcore.

And yes, by my calculations, roughly half of sales (and ccu) get cut off due to Sony's self-ban. Steam is a worldwide platform heavily used in developing countries unlike consoles which are primarily for developed regions. But with that said, this game would have still flopped with double CCU though.

Yah Sony be self sabotaging here

On steam? Hell no

I think the most popular ones don't ever peak even above 15k.

Lego Harry Potter had something like 620 peak.

Not true. Horizon is just a bizarre choice for a Lego game. The main draw of the series is the graphics, which doesnt apply here. It’s not really a series for kids. So who is this for?

If you look at Amazon rankings nobody is buying this anywhere.

^Pretty sure we know some people are blatantly trying to paint black into white. Like claiming how this game isn't developed by Guerrilla Games when the studio is listed as "developer" on Steam.

Like batman with 500 ccu on steam?
Horizon is just a fine game for Lego - kids likes dinos (hunting mecha dinos is a main draw of a game, not a graphics). They already has one set in place and probably will have more.

Horizon Zero Dawn sold 15.6 million copies as of November 2019.

This was the tail end of the PS4 life cycle.

Horizon Zero Dawn probably sold less than 5 million copies through bundles.

The game sold over 24 million units last year. I would say 20M without bundles is popular.

People tried to do the same with forbidden west and we found out the following

Not only that Sony estimated they lost $85 million+ by putting forbidden west on ps plus. All those lost sales would have been through standalone sales.

Literally the only lego game was the Star Wars skywalker saga

Look at every other lego game

Lego Horizon is also charting on Amazon. At 67, behind Black Ops 6 at 56/58.

Honestly nobody asked for a LEGO Horizon game, personally I'm waiting for it to arrive on PS Plus to play it with my wife. Ain't no way I'm buying this outright in a store or digitally

Lego games sell for the long run because they are based in super popular franchises that new generations keep re-discovering.

This... is Horizon. Nobody wanted this, nobody cared about it.
Especially baffling on switch where none of the main ip has released. why would they think anyone would give a fuck about aloy. I get why they did do a switch release to grab that huge user base number but there’s no chance competing in such a dense game library using an ip that’s never released a single game on that system till now.

LEGO asked
The game will help them sell constructors
And it will be probably sell tons, judging by other "500 ccu" LEGO games.
And for Sony it's a good opportunity to expand brand recognition, especially among children

It is rather simple isn't it, it benefits all parties so I don't understand the confusion
