PlayStation 5 Pro Delivers Impressive 8K Resolution Gameplay in No Man’s Sky; Could Begin to Change Minds About The Viability of the Resolution

The tech experts at Digital Foundry took an in-depth look at the PlayStation 5 Pro patch of the popular game developed by Hello Games, highlighting how the game's 8K mode delivers extremely sharp visuals, thanks to PSSR, which upscales the game from a base resolution of around 2700p to 8K. The image quality remains impressive even in motion, proving once again how high base resolutions deliver much better upscaling results. Looking at performance, unlike what the in-game menus suggest, framerate is always capped at a properly paced 30 FPS in 8K mode, which makes the game absolutely playable in this mode. In addition, No Man's Sky seems to be the perfect showcase for an 8K resolution mode, as the game's high contrast and highly stylized visuals with long vistas suit such a high resolution incredibly well.

Whoever decided that every game-related Youtube video needs a thumbnail with the host pulling the most retarded and obnoxious face they possibly can needs to be dragged outside and shot.
I think it started in the mid-2010s and I'm not sure if it was Markiplier, Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye or one of the other famous ones back then who started it but the younger audiences clicked on it, then the algorithm apparently liked and boosted due to that, so much so that everyone had to play along.

It's also a psychology thing.

Regardless the new algorithm grift is finding any small millisecond of T&A on screen and using it as a thumbnail.

At one point I considered getting one. Do you set custom 16:9 resolutions between 4K and 8K through NVCP?
No, it just reads the TV's capabilities (I assume EDID) and you have the 8k resolution selectable along with all the others. Its all very normal.

Do bear in mind I bought my 8k TV to get the best 4k experience, not to watch 8k. Its a Sony Master Series. And you had to go 8k to get all the other top tier capabilities - one of them being 3k nit luminance. A bit like buying a car's top trim level, just because you wanted leather seats. That said, 8k desktop graphics mode is superb. And I do love the 4k upscale onto the 8k panel.

8k is pointless to people here until Nvidia does it then it becomes a MUST have and 4K will suddenly becomes too blurry!

Edit: OT I think 8K is massive resources hog and shouldn't be aimed at for at least 15 years.
