PS5 Digital Astro Bot Bundle at $399 vs Xbox Series S 1TB Robot White at $349 is kinda crazy

Those worried about the disc drive:

There will be bundles for those too. A higher price, but they will be available.

Only $50 more. In Europe it's sadly 100 euro more.

Then comes the 5:1 or 6:1 worldwide and people will wonder what happened, for that price Series S is almost a scam.
Then they pretend MS is our saviour for competition to keep Sony prices in line. Not with these MS prices they're not. If anything Sony is competing on price better than MS because they actually want to grow the console market installbase whereas it seems MS couldn't care less so they charge these stupid prices. The $599 Series X that they introduced was a complete joke too.

The "Best Value in Gaming" tagline is so ironic and braindead.

I mean, if we were back in 2020-2022 it would still (kinda) make sense, but now ?
Both the series consoles are literally dead systems, there's absolutely zero reason to get one now since they're (MS) transitioning to...whatever it is they're doing.

The few millions stuck with an Xbox are the only ones getting something out if it, when it comes to the rest of the new potential buyers (or people that have a PS)...again, zero reason to even think of getting one, it's a relic by 2025 standards

Series s was allways bad value against the ps5 digital, ms are stupid, gaming is about value not about what is the cheapest or the most powerful, ms please just leave gaming industry, 20 Years and you still have no clue.

Series S design is still the best of all of these current gen consoles. Thats what it has going for.

With no software sales to offset the cost of the Series consoles, prices stay firm. Sony can continue to sale at a loss and bring its consoles prices down.

PlayStation 5 isn't selling at a loss

Series S pricing makes no sense, especially when the cheapest PS5 often performs better than the Series X. Add to that the ridiculous price of storage expansion cards on the series s/x. Just not a great value at all. Unless you want a cheap way into gamepass, but don't want to do any of that xcloud shit (unplayable in my location).

PS5 isn't selling at a loss since 2021. They literally increased the price so that this still happens.

the S should have never been this expensive IMHO. it offers shit storage, and a downgrade in every aspect to a base ps5 even. The S should be a $249.99 console but they believe it's the value proposition for gamers. Honestly if I had a choice for a switch or a S id get the switch even with its older technology. The S has been an albatross for XBOX from a developer and core gamer prospective. I understand it's their best selling console so they are not going to move away from that. I image the next consoles version of the S will be basically the same as the X in fact they may just repurpose the X into a smaller factor and just have that be the base for next gen. While they introduce a premium PC sku

They really should've pulled the 3DS strategy, slashing the price to $199 and bundling with 6 months of game pass. That should've happened two years ago. It's too late now, MS probably already move on and focus only on their next gen hardware.

It was pretty easy to grab one for $149.99 a few years back from Costco and other retailers.

The Series S has never been the best value from a dollar to performance ratio but wow it's even worse now with this bundle. You're getting the game of the year along with a console that performs like 3x better for just a little more. Series S should be $250 at most for it to have convincing value.

It was a scam since day one.

It has a variety of uses, amazing build quality, and in many instances the retail prices were a reasonable $150 - $250. At this point in time it is not recommended unless someone really wants to play some niche older titles in the highest fidelity (at a price much lower than MSRP obviously).

The S is a great little machine, especially as an entry level console, but at this point it should cost $200. Microsoft continues to shit the bed in every way possible and their hardware pricing is no exception. These idiots literally released a $600 XSX at the same time the PS5 Pro launched. It's like they don't even care anymore.

No the reason the sale is happening is because the sale can happen lol

If it's like the earlier bundles, you have to buy the bundle to get the discount. It's not a permanent price cut. The bundle is only going to be available for so long.

Just makes me want a return to launch pack in games like Donkey Kong on Coleco, Super Mario Word on SNES, Sonic on Genesis (Altered beast for some).

That price without a drive and less ram and power, it's Microsoft in a nutshell.

Yes because it's too much going on right now that can affect manufacturing cost. So they're not doing an official price drop that they might have to revert from because the of manufacturing cost went up again.

Europeans are paying for the future US tariffs.

But it just came out a few months ago
They should have launched this Series S at $250 and discontinued the 372GB useable storage monstrosity but they obviously want to make money by upselling storage. They're trying everything they can to make 500GB be expensive whether that's their proprietary shite cards or getting a built in upgraded S.

MS realized that cutting the price just meant they were losing more money on the few sales they had while not selling more.
Now they are just dead in the water until they can try *something* new.

No reason to lower the price and lose even more money when they've, more or less, stopped producing these consoles. Those that are in circulation will sell out eventually at MSRP

So is this a parody account to illustrate how butthurt Xbox fans are about losing? Or is this one started by an Xbox fan to hide all their true thoughts behind "joke" posts? Or, God forbid, a serious person with autism?
I am more of a Sega fan. Only Microsoft games I play are Hi-Fi Rush, Forza Horizon, and Fable (minus III) and I play those mostly on PC. I do love seventh generation games though and modern Xbox platform unlike modern PlayStation platform provides many that I play on the daily. I have a PS3 as well but it takes forever to load and I am lucky to get a base resolution of 720p with lighting and dynamic color range that is not absolute garbage as many PS3 ports are bad. The PS4 experience is also ass though I have easy access to it in my household. I do not have autism but I am vindictive so piss off.

if it had 6 tflops and 12 gb memory it would've been a legendary console probably
but don't know if it is possible to put that at that price

I'm sure the company that lost like $1B per year with their original console, over $1B on RROD, and lost $100-200 per Series S/X could have probably done it.

They just didn't want to.
