It’s a nice mid range system for a good price.
Yet you still got bothered by my comment 🤷

I’d say being beholden to the whims of a publisher for game updates to simply enjoy the full benefits of new hardware (or even work at all) is way worse then any of that. Want to play Witcher 3 with the next-gen RT feature set? Here’s a stripped down version stuck at 30fps. Want to replay a classic game from 15 years ago? Shit out of luck. How’s those RT reflections in Returnal look on the Pro? Not been updated you say?

Frankly I’d rather deal with shader stutter then any of that nonsense. Even though shader stutter is increasingly becoming a fixed problem on PC. Of the top 100 rated Metacritic games on PC this year, a grand total of one game had bad shader stutter.

And seriously, who tries to spin mouse and keyboard as a negative? Anyone can just use a controller if they want to.

You're not beholden to the publisher for game updates. The boost modes work just as they do on PC. Developers are using DRS and have many different modes that instantly benefit from the new hardware. More significant updates on PC like adding RT features or DLSS requires a publisher update (or some modded hack that's not qualified to the same standard the devs intend).

The stutter issues are a constant feature of UE5, it is uiquitous and people like Alex from DF complain about it constantly

Frankly, having constant issues/hassles just playing MODERN games is way more intrusive. Using a mouse and a keyboard on a couch absolutely is a negative.

Really is a fantastic console. Horizon Forbidden West is the best looking game on the market, and Digital Foundry showed a 4090 with DLSS playing it side by side to PS5 Pro and the PS5 Pro looked just as good.

Glad I can really have the best of both worlds for a much cheaper price than PC with a closed box highly optimized experience (no shader compilation BS, no mouse and keyboard BS, no having to figure out why this game won't boot up BS, no UE5 stuttering non stop BS). For a premium product, PC users really get the shaft because it's anything but elegant. Far from it.

PS5 Pro is basically a nearly perfect 4K60 experience. So anyone complaining before about blurry performance modes will no longer need to worry for the most part.
Cope. The best of both worlds is a top-tier rig + a PS5 Pro like I or TrebleShot TrebleShot got.

You do you. No Cope about it. There are aspects to PC that do not appeal to me (but do appeal to others) and they require you put up with a whole lot of *caveats* I don't care to deal with. To each their own. I am perfectly content playing on console and have zero need for a PC. My 10 year old PC edits/consumes content just fine. I am personally not missing out on anything by not owning a high end PC. My own personal opinion should not detract others that do value what PC offers from enjoying their experience. I never said PC gaming was invalid. *It's just not for me*

Of course you’re beholden. DRS is nice and all but you are still coming up way short for a large number of games that simply never get updated or the visual feature sets are stuck at 30fps. Returnal has great RT reflections on PC but this is simply not available on PS5, because the game hasn’t been updated for it. Witcher 3 with RT is a visual showcase for an masterpiece of a game, but on the Pro you have to settle for 30fps. Going back even further, plenty of great PS4 games are stuck at 30fps. As for all those great PS3 games, well we all know about that.

PC gaming is absolutely not easy or as couch friendly as console gaming, I don’t disagree with that. But you listed a bunch of issues that were quite hyperbolic and certainly don’t apply to all use cases. PC users are getting the shaft because it’s not elegant? Sure on the surface it seems that way. But for me it’s pretty damn elegant that I can boot up a game from 2011 and play it at 4k120 and no patch from the developer is required.

He's not lying.

95% of PC games that are exclusives are indie games (from very small studios) made to run on potatoes and/or they are literally just asset flips.

And to be clear, I'm not saying those games are bad, but they sure as fuck don't look like Astro Bot.

Which is awesome for you. I'm just saying you're not getting the best of both worlds. Take Black Myth Wukong for example. It hasn't been patched and still runs poorly on the Pro. 40-45fps in Quality Mode and bad IQ in Performance Mode with dips below 60 anyway. On PC, you can toggle DLSS+Reflex and get 1440p/60fps on a 4070. Cyberpunk also hasn't been patched.

On the flip side, if you've got a Pro, you can now enjoy games such as GOWR or HFW at high IQs and frame rates for a relatively low price.

That's the best of both worlds.

Art style matters way more. I mean, look at Astrobot. It looks absolutely gorgeous on inferior hardware, much better than 90% of PC games. Most of the PC games shoot for realism and it's so awfully boring...BORING! *makes an obnoxiously loud snore behind an unsuspecting PC gamer while he's gaming on his PC* /Nintendofanargument
With that logic, Astrobot also looks better than 90% of PS5 games too. I would also say it does since its budget is also higher than 99% of the games out there anyway. This isn't the flex you think it is. It's coming to PC anyway, so meh.

I will never understand all the hyperbole and praise I'm seeing for this underwhelming yesteryear's tech. But I guess it's a fine starter device for contemporary graphics tech. Too bad they hamstrung it with that old CPU, it will make it age like milk.

The stirring is from the shook PCMR people ruining every Pro thread.

Why does every Ps5 pro thread get hijacked with PC fanboys projecting their insecurities? Hey Mods, whats going on? For something you PC guys hate, or have no care for because you have something better, there is such an overwhelming conceited effort to convince gamers that they need to buy something else based on your own anecdotal experience. Those PC threads must be a circle jerk with people mostly asking for advice on how to diagnose a problem, so sharing their PC builds and performance in console threads is a boost to their ego and makes them feel superior.

This is how PC fan boys look when ever a Ps5 Pro thread pops up....

Well, you win universe. I finally agree with something said by JSF.

Isn’t it just yet another standard home console that can run current gen games at sharper resolutions and or higher framerates?
Yes but that's what made him appreciate it again.

"I have also got a top end gaming PC that can run every game at native 4k120fps and to be honest I was moving away from consoles altogether feeling as if the experience is hampered and the ability of the PS5 was weak.
Now I have my Pro I find myself happier to sit down and just play shit
.... There's a few small things like the initial boot of the pc with all my additional tools opening in the background and the windows log in (can't be auto logged in for some reason I've tried) to the random situation where games don't launch (crew motorfest won't start cos of some random error I can't be arsed to fix). I have come to re-appreciate waking the console from rest and things just work."

True, There are of course advantages to high end PC, I didn’t suggest otherwise. I just overall prefer the console experience. And the Pro solves one of the biggest issues surrounding base consoles and poor IQ with 60 fps.

That should be solved *going forward*, but still need to wait for some games already released. I hope black myth gets a patch.

The OP mentions the word PS5 or Pro or a combination of the two a total of six times. The word PC is mentioned five times. It is literally comparing the two and asking for opinions. This is not a PS5 Pro only thread so why are you shocked that people who play on PC are chiming in?

But this is just how consoles have worked for a long time now.

At launch they can moderately hold a candle to powerful PCs. Within 1 year there is a gap, within 2 years there’s a significant gap and the console is antiquated.

Quite a few people go through this. It's the meme chart.

Consoles at the beginning, PC-only in the middle, Both at the end because you just want to play games.

OP says he owns and enjoys both and asks if others feel the same.

Hey Mods, whats going on?
What's wrong? It's a gaming discussion on the gaming discussion board.

Could it be that those posts make you feel... insecure? :lollipop_content:

Nah but seriously, asking the mods to remove any kind of respectful discussion just because some posts don't match your opinion is cringe.
