Yep.
Don't know what this clown tested. But according to a german review the console is more silent than a launch PS5. No issues with coil whine.4-5dB louder hmmm. No talk about coil whine at least that’s my biggest issue with my PS5.
Especially since the people who are doing this mid gen upgrade is doing so for the very best console experience and imo that's not at 1080pI'd say most console gamers are playing on TVs rather than monitors though. Your question about how Pro does in 1080p is still valid, but I doubt those are the majority.
Pretty much. This isn’t a device we need to buy; it’s a mid-generation upgrade for those interested. Most of us are on a gaming enthusiast forum; do we not enjoy gaming? If you don’t see the value in getting one, that’s perfectly fine, and the same goes for those who do. There’s no need to get so hung up over the idea of this existing. It does exist, and it’s almost here.Honestly find the views weird.
Both for it and against it.
You don’t have to get the Pro. It is another option which is great.
No different to Mobile Phones or even GPUs.
Honestly some of the people leaving negative comments only tells me they want it but can’t afford it.
So I'm assuming all the PS5 games got FPS uncapped to push 120 now?
OOF, You trolling me or something?

I returned my first PS5 because of coil whine. This would be my main issue also.4-5dB louder hmmm. No talk about coil whine at least that’s my biggest issue with my PS5.
Aiming a noise meter a couple centimeters from the exhaust might not be scientific but it’s something. No idea what content he used, difficult to find maximum load content. I assume it’s not dashboard noise that would make it loud. 42-43 dB on the Pro, 37-38 dB on the Slim. No launch console comparison though. Did the german review show launch console vs Pro dB values?Don't know what this clown tested. But according to a german review the console is more silent than a launch PS5. No issues with coil whine.
I see what you mean, and majority may be a stretch but there are still millions of folks with PS5 and a 1080p TV, wondering if the upgrade to a pro is worth it. Or wrongly assuming that they will have access to all of the upgrades, which they wont. They will see a downsampled 1080p signal on their 1080p TV. A review would be nice to see if the PSSR does something for 1080p TVs, too. Im not sure how that works. If PSSR will have any effect on the 1080p signal. Maybe it does?I'd say most console gamers are playing on TVs rather than monitors though. Your question about how Pro does in 1080p is still valid, but I doubt those are the majority.
Honestly when I was seeing it side by side at my buddies house I personally could say yeah that looks much better
But now having played with mine at home VERY little so far but on a 32" 4k OLED monitor its like mehhh, is this the pro or the regular PS5.
NahhhWill you return it?
You’re too old to remember it seems when atari 2600, 5800, 7200, or NES, SNES, or PlayStation, from 1 to 2 to 3 were literally generational jumps that games were built ground up for, that were simply not possible on the previous hardware. Thats next gen. Not another new form of DLSS upscaling nonsense. I miss the days of literally loving the OG Super Mario bros, Metroid, and Zelda, to super Mario world, super Metroid, and Zelda: a link to the past. And that’s just Nintendo. Those days are gone, we live in a world where everyone wanted backward compatibility, so what you call “next gen” is slight graphical upgrades to old games.PSSR

One could argue adding a form of DLSS to consoles is in fact next genYou’re too old to remember it seems when atari 2600, 5800, 7200, or NES, SNES, or PlayStation, from 1 to 2 to 3 were literally generational jumps that games were built ground up for, that were simply not possible on the previous hardware. They are no db values. They wrote that the pro sounds less audible than a launch PS5 and has no issues like coil whine from the front.Aiming a noise meter a couple centimeters from the exhaust might not be scientific but it’s something. In many of the cases, that’s exactly the issue.Honestly find the views weird.
Both for it and against it.

Edit: I was…… poking fun at you, but trying to edit and you quoted so fast. Just didn’t work out.
My face when you post.
When did reviewing consoles become a thing? Especially an incremental pointless console?
i had an amastrad pc from the UK and i programmed as an 12 year old in quick basic. My fave game was elite. I used an illegally printed manual so i could play it.You’re too old to remember it seems when atari 2600, 5800, 7200, or NES, SNES, or PlayStation, from 1 to 2 to 3 were literally generational jumps that games were built ground up for, that were simply not possible on the previous hardware. lol....no. Was that a legit question? Thought you were being sarcastic.
Thought it was reason for the price tag, I'm guessing this is gonna be the new base model going forward an older SKU's being decomed. Sony prolly expecting global liquidity to get crazy during 2025.
I thought it was a pretty clever pointed summary of his evaluation of the direction this industry is taking. Or I'm just really dumb and I should've taken him literally and not think of anything else besides what's literally in the words he wrote.Yes thats the only improvement this console has... Great first comment
Its the same controller........Any words about the battery life of the dualsense?? Still the same shitty battery??
No Shit Sherlock. Its the same controller........
Still unable to run ER at 60fps? Underwhelming to say the least, hope other games fair better.Because it's private and I can still watch it, I'll post a couple screens.
Game boost feature isn't enough to push CPU bound games to a locked 60, they're still CPU bound (no surprise here...). However games like Cyberpunk may be pushed into VRR range.
PS5 also performs worse in GPU bound scenarios than an RX6800, at least in their example.
Power consumption (peaked at 240w in F1)
4k120 output mode is still limited to 4:2:2, why? No one knows. There should be enough bandwidth for full RGB as the console can output 8K.
I have no idea when those readings were taken. My PS5 Slim was LOUD the moment you start a game from the Home Screen. My Series X is silent at all times from just a few feet away. I’d like some real reading with meaningful data but I guess I’ll have to wait till mine arrives Friday.Yes he is but at least he did some decibel readings
The Sony 1st party, 2nd party games, exclusives and time exclusives runs better on ps5 pro. We cannot judge the ps5 pro base on launch. We really have to wait and see now PSSR ML evolve, learn and get better as time passes possibly within one year. Next year we can really see its capabilities especially with GTA 6, GOY, Wolverine, and Death Standing 2.Still unable to run ER at 60fps? Underwhelming to say the least, hope other games fair better.
That's what, 10 games? It'd be very underwhelming if only those would be the ones seeing an upgrade. The Sony 1st party, 2nd party games, exclusives and time exclusives runs better on ps5 pro.
The regular ps5 runs Elden Ring at 60fps locked, just load up the PS4 version.Still unable to run ER at 60fps? Underwhelming to say the least, hope other games fair better.
Good thing for me, I'm not an early adopter. If I get extra fund, I plan get ps5 pro next year. By next year it is possible that PSSR ML will be more adjusted, evolved, updated and more games develop with ps5 pro in mind. Anyway, I'm still satisfied with my ps5 slim for now. That's what, 10 games? It'd be very underwhelming if only those would be the ones seeing an upgrade.
I agree that PSSR will improve on the future, no doubt. But for a launch this is kinda crap. Hope you are right and those future games you listed make better use for it. Maybe being developed with the Pro model in mind might help.
Well you are the one that asked, if you knew it was the same why would you ask.No Shit Sherlock.
Pretty sure he meant same battery as wellNo Shit Sherlock.
Then why ask if it's improved if you know it's the same fucking controller? No Shit Sherlock.
At least it's within the VRR window - even in quality mode.Still unable to run ER at 60fps? Underwhelming to say the least, hope other games fair better.
