Sony has filed DMCA to Lance McDonald to Remove the Bloodborne 60fps Patch

Sony is harming Sony reputation wtf are you talking about lmao.
My MIL is in an assisted living facility where you pay a compulsory amount of money each month which you can use to buy food at on-site dining.
They had to ban outside food at these areas because it made the food they were serving look like the subpar crap it is.
I think he means that kind of harming Sonys reputation.

The money sony is paying for the lawyers to file this fucking joke of a claim could be used to pay this guy to officially patch the game. And make more money in the process.....

This "modder" has broken in-game balance, his illegal hack can cause worse game experience and someone can blame Sony after all!

He doesn't have a right to touch Bloodborne, even if he bought the game!

Mr. Nintendo Lawyer, is that you?

I mean it's possible that there's an official version of this in the hands of Sony. I'd imagine they wouldn't want an unofficial one to be out there anymore.

They want people to buy their version and a free one running around would compromise that. Just a guess.

What a stupid waste of resources.

It's not getting undone and it's never disappearing from the Internet.

Let's just hope they don't do a full palpatine and start going after emulation next.

Oh no, how ever will I play a 60+ FPS bloodborne now that the ps5 patch has been removed?

It is painful that there is definitely no other way to play bloodborne at 60fps now. I am positively crushed.

That's not the objective. A DMCA costs them practically nothing anyway, they have in house legal counsel for that (which they're already paying, you could argue not giving them something to do would be wasting money). Even if they hadn't, ChatGPT would be absolutely adequate for that kinda benign task.

It's about sending a message to guys like McDonald. Coming up with a patch like this as an outsider isn't easy, you need someone somewhat competent for that. Sony just send a very clear message to him and guys like him, and you can bet that that message was received loud and clear.

Also, I know some people here are trolling, but some seem to actually believe this means Sony is cooking up something. No, lmao. And even if they were (which they aren't), there's no valid reason to go after stuff like this.

They're doing it for the same reason Nintendo does it: They're petty assholes who are full of themselves and love to smell their own farts. This is precisely what happens when multinational multi billion dollar companies go unchecked.

At Sacred Symbols, Mr Colin Moriarty hinted many many months ago in one of his podcast sessions that he'd seen what looked like Bloodborne related from a potential insider.

For a free (or was it $10) patch i think it was fine. 60FPS is huge in this game.

And the cheap PS5 edition added some texture cleanup and a few other things.
It was not free, it was 10 dollars just the patch, 20 dollars with the dlc.

If you consider what they did with hzd for the same price, yeah it was kinda terrible.

You should also consider that cdproject did something similar to hzd with w3 and it was a free upgrade...

I think you could call it mid maybe at most. It fixed things, it added some new stuff around lighting and textures, it was cheap. And it didn't break anything.

But either way, I would pay $10-20 for similar upgrade to bloodborne if it fixed frame pacing as well.

They already did that, they lost the case but kept filling more and more lawsuits and threatening stores until the emulator went away.

Sheeat, how did I forget. And I fucking used Bleem way back in the day.

Don't forget Connectix's VGS, at least those guys, or some of them, were officially hired by Sony for emulation BC last I read.

In a scale where hzd patch is top stuff, and w3 patch is mid, i think that i'm till gonna consider got patch as low tier, it doesn't deserve a mid rating, sorry.

With that or tlou2 remaster patch i thought like they were straight up trolling me, a nextgen patch should not need any 400x zoom to notice a 5% difference.

Meanwhile, the modding community has almost perfected the emulation of this game ...

The emulator is why they've issued the DMCA.

Because its the patch that allows it to run >30 fps without issues, the unaltered code has issues due to fixed timings.

This combination of things allows pirates to play a "better" version of the game than is currently offered - and here's the thing its not like the game is out of print or impossible to play otherwise - which is a pretty cast-iron reason for them to step in, because it devalues any prospective update.

It's because they're going to announce a remaster with 60fps and having a free patch will hurt sales. Actions speak louder than words. Remaster confirmed.

Not trying to start console war but this is why the industry needs Xbox, without competition Sony will be so arrogant. Not just Sony, every company will be arrogant when dominating.

If I'm not mistaken, Lance's patch is only for the PS4 version, other people ported it to PS5, but in both those cases it requires owning the game. No piracy involved.
