Seeing as it would be a new game, why wouldn't I? I kind of prefer a fixed gender to choice anyway as I think they can better build one story rather than two. Most important thing to me is that the character is interesting. Often it comes down to intent, if the intent is to tick a bunch of boxes you can just about bet that the character is anything but interesting and it will be obvious. There is a bit of that going on in the industry sure, but it will self correct as the games tend to just not be good as devs are too busy patting themselves on the back and not catering to their audience. But its a bit ridiculous to think a gender choice is automatically pandering when literally half the population is women.
