This has to be one of the WORST adverts I've EVER seen - not just in the gaming industry.

They are calling a Steam Deck, a Meta Quest, a Mobile Phone an "XBOX". What kind of a mentally-challenged person came up with this, seriously?!
Execution might be terrible and I guess, based on this thread, debatable, but the point they are trying to make is clear enough. It doesn't align with what "Xbox" has been, but it is how they want people to start looking at their platform. Will this work or not? I suppose it remains to be seen.

Enjoy researching which version to download on PS5 since it can't even automatically handle that without system issues. All this is, is smart delivery across all devices. That's awesome. When PS does it you will think it's awesome as well. You already can see the PS UI and trophy set up on Ghost of Tsushima on PC. You guys are literally stuck in the past and blinded by console warring. You're going to cheer on this exact thing soon.
Somebody is having an absolute meltdown here :D

The cringe part is, while he shills away...

You don't even have to "search." You select a game, and if there is a PS4 version, it asks you which one you would like to download. Also, on the PS5 as your main console, it downloads the PS5 version by default unless instructed otherwise.

What year is this argument even?

Well there it is. Microsoft has officially lost it. I have series x and plenty of games for it so i wont be selling it but after seeing this ad its clear they will never make traditional home console ever again and its sad. End of an era indeed.
But you can just buy any of the other dozen or so Xboxes, what’s so special about the old Xboxes that makes you sad they won’t make more of them?

The Xbox is dead, long live the Xbox!

😉

On a serious note, I knew this Xbox app as a platform strategy would happen, they’ve been taking baby steps in this direction for many years. But I didn’t think they would do it this fast. And they’re rushing the pr before they have a legacy game emulator working. If my PC is an Xbox, why can’t it run all Xbox games I’ve bought?

You guys are just being retards. It's a brand name. There are Xbox t-shirts too and no one freaks out that it's not a box. Playstation is also on PC and it's not a station. But sure, keep the fake outrage going. Xbox app is on my phone right now. Playstation has an app on phone. Xbox already has log-ins to play on browser, or TVs or fire stick. This is how it's been since 2021.
Xbox is clearly moving in a different direction now and wants to make it clear to their customers but let's not pretend that the console wasn't what defined it. They have a new strategy now and they have most of the "pieces" in play and so they want the world to know (e.g. the casuals).

And, come on dude. If this was PlayStation instead, you'd be right there with them, acting the same way lol.

You guys are still attached to the Box.

Unless Playstation royally fucks up anytime soon, Microsoft is never going to outsell Sony when it comes to console. Their options are to either sit on their hands and try to bang their heads against the same brick wall over and over again, or they could change the business. That's what they're doing. We'll see if they actually succeed here, but at least they're trying something.

Before anyone calls me an Xbox shill, I've owned an Xbox console once in my life. A 360 for 2 months before Gears 3 came out, and sold it right after I finished the game.
they dont have to outsell sony or nintendo, just be competitive. they did it to themselves and the reason why xbox is doing bad, its all on them. this isnt a strategy, its them giving up but MS ego is too big for them to outright give up and do it on some side ways type of way.

its not bad tbh, its quite good at communicating their device agnostic new approach, as they transition to effectively being a publisher...I don't personally like the ad, but I think its effective at getting across their intent.

This is where everything is going. I'm not a hypocrite at all. It's been obvious for a long time. Sony will have a PC store, cross play, cloud on TVs / phones, and sync up saves. Portal as well. I'm not a liar like most of the clowns on here.

This is what they have been setting things up for and are now finally beginning to advertise it because all the "main" pieces are in play, so I get that but the device we call a "console" is what has defined Xbox for generations and I don't think you can ignore that; which I thought was what you guys were going back and forth on.

As far as interoperability/cross-play/cross-platform is concerned, well, yeah, they are all doing that but you know that is not what this thread is about. It's about what MS as a company wants to communicate what Xbox is. Sony and Nintendo haven't done that, yet. In terms of communication. Sony and Nintendo are not saying you can play PS games almost anywhere. They might get there, might reach the same conclusions but simply by doing similar things, does not mean they have abandoned the traditional model of console gaming.

Only retards are unable to grasp this, and I don't believe for a second that Heisenberg007 Heisenberg007 can't figure it out. He's not that stupid. No one has ignored the console. The console sales are bombing and it's been documented in every sales thread on here weekly in multiple regions for years. They are pivoting to marketing the app and salvaging the brand since Xbox is a 20 year brand. Everyone with even a tiny brain can figure this out if they're trying.

"Every screen is an Xbox" plan is going strong I see. I don't think it's been a very sound plan, but let's see where this goes.
