UNCOMPRESSED metroid prime 4 footage best looking switch game??

Friendly reminder to those posting the bad textures of Halo 4 that the PS360 both had 512MB of RAM. Switch may be a more powerful version of that generation but is also a product of its era with 8X more RAM and newer architecture. It’s supposed to look way better, not trading shots with Halo 4 (graphically… I doubt no Nintendo game would let the scars in the soul that that game left in the fans). I think we already had this discussion when the game first showed, so I’ll use the same example:

Imagine looking at something this ugly and trying to tell anyone that looks good. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Even for '05 that looks terrible.
Zero idea how 2005 games looked. Also artstyle, in case you go look it up and find things like Fear, Doom 3, Starship Troopers and/or Riddick.
Crysis a game from 2007/2008 blows Metroid Prime 4 away, nearly 20 years later LOL.

Not really the same artstyle amirite.
Crysis itself is on Switch.
But that doesnt help neo members agrnda trolling. Plus, ithas things like SVOGI which the original doesnt have. One of few instances where the Switch version looks better (and runs better too) than the PC original.
I'll take a look and report back.
Oh you will, right neo member?

Cant recall Remastered was getting the same hyperbolic comparisons.

Xbox 360 - 240 gflops machine
Switch - 393 gflops machine

Halo 4 on 360 - 720p/30fps
MP4 on Switch - ~900p/60fps

Nintendo Switch computing power isn't a generation ahead of 360 to produce a generational difference in term of visuals. 60 FPS alone is already impressive.

I just literally put a video of a 60fps game that doesn’t overwhelm you with the emptiness of MP4 and running on a original 360. And flops aren’t all the story, as I said.

Best looking Switch game is not something to brag about.

I think they might be adding puzzle elements to the game like Zelda. This could take place of dungeon based Zelda titles.

Much more interesting things to discuss about it.

Advanced Warfare runs at 1024x600 and an unstable 60fps on 360

Prime 4 runs most likely 99% locked 60fps at 1600x900 (from DF's initial pixel counts of the last trailer). Retro's games usually are basically fully locked at 60

AW on 360 = 36,864,000 pixels per second
Prime 4 = 86,400,000 pixels per second

if we assume the handheld mode resolution will be the same as Prime Remastered (docked mode seems to follow it's exact numbers so that's a save bet), we are looking at 1070x600 at 60fps,
so 38,520,000 pixels per second. meaning even on the go, played as a handheld, the raw performance numbers are higher than those of Advanced Warfare.

The materials, effects, and general rendering in MP4 is also lightyears ahead of Advanced Warfare on 360, which wasn't even that great looking by 360 standards as it was a cut down cross gen title.

Yeah. On an empty corridor with nothing happening in the screen. With up to 3 enemies on the screen. I think we all saw the same unimpressive trailer. And again, yes it has a lot more GPU push, of course. NSW is mainly a 1080 machine, as it’s expected. It’s 12 years older than the 360.

you are comparing a dockable handheld to a home console.

also CoD's graphics are way more primitive. the graphics in that game look horrendous, even the textures on your gun model look like pixelart, now imagine how the rest look.

Remember that GTA5 started on PS3 as well. I understand that the graphics look underwhelming, for me especially the waterfalls. They have a cut off look. But getting 60fps and some kind of graphical fidelity on a handheld is ok enough for me. Prime Remake looked similar and I loved every second of it.

Nintendo has the deal of the century, they can afford to create games with 12+ year old graphics and have the approval of their audience. What Sony, Micro, UBI etc would give to be able to afford to release their AAA games with these modest technical aspects, it would take them 1 or 2 years to release their games xD.

Bruh it looks worse than uncharted 1 on ps3
We actually got ps3 vs ps4 remaster uncharted 1 comparision, pretty sure prime 4 is looking better from ps3 uncharted but again- u can compare it with ur own eyes, including resolution and framerate.

That ps3 texture popping and screen tearing is hard to look at nowadays xD

PS3 level graphics.

PS4 launched with Killzone Shadowfall. Not even on the same hemisphere.
It kinda reminds me of some ps vita games actually. Although that might be disrespectful to kill zone mercenary.

It might be better then uncharted 1 PS3 but it's not better then uncharted 2/3 on the ps3

To think that forums such as this has not yet realized that graphics doesn't matter, at all for consumers. Xbox is putting out graphical showcase after graphical showcase and those games all sell less than low effort Wii ports on Switch like Donkey Kong Returns.

Yups, thats where i wouldnt tell which game looks graphically superior, ofc different genres, 60fps vs 30 with dips to 25 in uncharted 2, still, to my eyes its roughly the same ballpark of visual fidelity :)

I am less interested in how the game looks and more interested in why all of you guys have these treasure troves of gotcha screen caps from games that came out in the 2000s.

I mean, that's some commitment just to win some fights on the internet. I don't even have a screenshot of the game I just played.

^ Uncharted 2/3, along with almost everything on PS3/360, also used more primitive and basic pre-PBR materials, whereas Prime 4 looks to be utilizing a similar physically-based shading system as Prime Remastered.

It's funny how switch is no longer a home console when it's convenient. Look for a portable game it looks fantastic but people need to start recognising that.

unstable 30fps, even tho it uses dynamic resolution scaling below 544p

Uncharted 3 also unstable 30fps at 720p

once again, these aren't comparable to a 900p locked 60fps game.
at least find a 720p 60fps game or something

What about Metroid 4 using primitive baked shadows instead of dynamic cascaded shadow maps which even launch ps3 games had

Switch people should touch grass more. It looks more or less ok for a portable shooter (especially if we consider that Killzone Mercenary was done on a freaking Vita), but there’s nothing fancy even by Switch standards. Astral Chain, Xenoblade games and impossible ports like The Witcher 3 are far more complex and visually more interesting than another corridor shooter from ps360 era.

a big part of it yes. hence Silent Hill 2 using raytraced lighting in a nearly completely static environment... retarded beyond belief, and one of the reasons it runs like absolute shit while not looking an ounce better than last gen titles.
Everyone should stick to 20 year old techniques then?

Being a switch owner surely you're used to unstable frames at a low resolution? The games just look better. Switch isn't on the PS4 level unfortunately. A glorified vita.
